Hey hey yall! We're back with another episode of ATLA!

The aptly named "Bitter Work" isn't as dire as we expected from the title but a fun, lovely little world builder of an episode that does a lot of things.

It solidifies Toph as a badass little Earth-Bending teacher (and her and Katara's mild rivalry continues to simmer), calms our shot ass nerves with Iroh's truly lovely break down of all the 4 Nations tribes and what makes them tick and of course the new star of the show:

Mr. SkuttiilyPoops!

UPDATES ON FUTURE EPISODE ROLL OUTS/SCHEDULING ETC!

Moving forward, episodes of Uncut Patreon ATLA Reactions will drop every Wednesday, corresponding with our weekly Wednesday drop of ATLA YT edits.

Wednesday will be the only day we drop ATLA content, for Patreon AND YouTube. However, we are going to maintain the roll out of Uncut Reactions for our Patrons at two episodes ahead of our YouTube release schedule and not one ahead as we previously had done.

So when YT is getting S2x13 “The Drill” that same day, you will be watching S2x15 “The Tales of Ba Sing Sae,” and so forth (we cry a lot in that episode).

With this rollout, we will never miss a deadline and you guys will never be wondering why you haven’t received a video. It was over ambitious to think we could cover ATLA twice a week and cover other shows in a consistent fashion, and for that we humbly apologize.

As we’re sure you noticed, we go the extra mile in our edits, providing more comedy beats and different media references, and we really proud of trying to forge a unique voice in the reaction community. And that extra work takes extra time.

After speaking with our friends and contemporaries The Normies, Imon Snow and Blind Wave, they advised us that consistency be top priority, and switching to single episode drops per week, as they did with ATLA, helps us do that.

If we’re going to build anything lasting with the channel going forward we need to build it consistently and this change is a way to ensure that you guys are getting what you expect and we are delivering it.

Now, if you signed up expecting 2 drops a week, we understand how that could be frustrating, but we’re only looking towards our peers and what seems to be the standard of YT reaction roll out.

Also, speaking personally (Sean), the work schedule was legit running me into the ground and started to affect my actual physical and mental health. In the times of CoVid that's another factor that we wanted to consider and would hope that any of you would take similar steps for yourself in a similar situation.

This show and you guys have breathed life into the channel in ways that we never could have dreamed. I doubt we will ever experience such a rush of enthusiasm and overall positivity than we have with the ATLA community and we will be forever grateful. Must be all the ginseng tea and Uncle Iroh wisdom you guys have had throughout the years!

We chalk this up to a learning experience and promise to fulfill our contract with y’all and communicate more clearly in the future, since you have been so gracious to invest in our channel. As out of work bartenders who didn’t plan on any of this happening, you guys will never truly know how much this means to us and literally helping us keep the lights and we will be forever grateful.

NOW, back to our regularly scheduled mispronunciations (even though we’re getting better!), perverted tangents and all the feels that S2 is given us :)

Perfect response. I'd been actually sitting on upgrading to see your full Lovecraft reactions, and now I am actually gonna do it, because you saw the issue and fixed it in the perfect way for you, and for us. We don't mind being patient. We waited 9 months between seasons 2 and 3, and we waited for years for Korra. Thank you for communicating and being respectful of us and teasing us the way you do, and thank you for caring enough to be truthful and take a step back for yourselves. <3

This is personally my favorite episode because it really resonated with me as a teen when Iroh was explaining to Zuko how the 4 nations are interconnected and can draw wisdom from each other. So much so I got tattoo of what Iroh draws in the sand to remind me of the freedom, passion, stability, and the go with flow nature of life.

SeanTankTop

I appreciate that Kelsey! The understanding means a lot! And in regards to the upgrade you also get Mandalorian reactions, The Boys S2, First run Manly Movie Mondays and our Shitty Movie Night Watches as well!

SeanTankTop

WIll, that is amazing! We are looking at getting ATLA tatts once we're out of the weeds with Covid!

I actually very much like the atla videos on youtube and always watch them even though i saw the full reaction. The Edits are great and i get to understand all the references you guys make during the show.

SeanTankTop

Thank you so much! Yeah, I definitely want them to stand as two different experiences. Like the uncut stuff, you're just chilling with friends. The edits a bit more participatory in how it reflects our sense of humor and our headspace of watching the show. The kind words mean the world Ad!

Michelle

Im more that fine with only one episode a week. I mean i like consistency and your guys time and health is more important i think that having two episodes a week. i wouldnt want this whole thing to affect yalls watching experience anyway cause u feel obligated to meet those deadlines. i just want yall to hopefully enjoy this show as much as we do and be part of that journey as you go through the avatar series. thanks for updating us in the change and a great reaction as always too.

All four of the elements are based off a different real life martial art (virtually exact copies). Airbending: Bagua Earthbending Hung Gar (though Toph has a slightly different form for her blindness) Firebending: Northern Shaolin Kung Fu Waterbending: Tai Chi So, Iroh's movements resembling Tai Chi is very deliberate.

Avi Chetri

“it keeps exploding in my face. like everything else does” - Every teenager ever. The angst! I feel 16 again.

Cody Taylor

Its passwords like this that make me struggle on mobile where i can't copy and paste 😭😭

Avi Chetri

Aang: Wow guys, I just learnt to earthbend! Katara: I wonder how Zuko and his uncle are doing... Zuko: [screams at sky]

Byron

The new schedule is perfect if it helps your mental health. Also, Iroh didn't choose to not ascend, remember, Azulon was (most likely) assassinated and Ozai took the throne before Iroh had made it all the way back home from his seige on Ba Sing Se.

Brianna Grout

The next episode is really good! Probably one of my favs!

idk if someone has said this yet, but "bitter work" is kind of a rough, inexact translation of "kung fu"

Iroh's lesson in this episode is just such a perfect example of how well designed ATLA's magic system is. It combines the show's lore (balance, the four nations, chi) with real world principles (Positive and negative energy, the behaviour/flow of electricity and the similarity to water) It makes bending feel so real and intuitive. And of course Iroh has studied water bending, the avatar, and dance. Is there anything he can't do? And as bummed as I am about only 1 episode of ATLA a week, I fully support the decision and I can't imagine anyone having an issue with that. Gotta take care of yourselves first, and the content you guys put out is totally worth it

Official Jrem

The “lightning dick” jokes had me dying 😂😂😂😂 this is why I became a patreon gotta love it 😂😂🔥

SeanTankTop

LOL! No topic however benign or seemingly free of sexual innuendo is safe from our perverted minds! Thank so much for joining!

Dennis Ramirez

No worries, you guys work however you need to work, I'm happy to support you all (the burlington was a rad place for a pint)!

I don't usually comment, but I just wanted to chip in and say that I really appreciate this series. Been following your channel for a long time and I had seen more reaction series of Avatar than I'd probably like to admit, but your take on it is so refreshing and new and the quality of the edits is really stellar. It's been a real joy and always something to look forward to. Shout out to Dustin and Morgan, you all have really great chemistry.

SeanTankTop

ONE LAST THING: I cannot tell you the relief that came over me after y'all's response. I was super nervous and had been mulling around the release shift since we started S2 and i just wanted to say THAT YOU ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL FUCKING ANGELS. We always wanna do right by yall and it turns out yall are doing right by us with your understanding and empathy! Can't be grateful enough for yall!

SeanTankTop

Thank you so much Dennis! It totally is! Once Covid clears and yall can visit first round is on me!

SeanTankTop

Iroh's wisdom is the warm, feel good balm that we all need from time to time ON TO P of his nuggets of knowledge being just BANGERS! This episode is the one of the all time great Iroh eps for sure!

Lydia Hickling

new schedule is perfect :) i'll be looking forward to Wednesday every week for sure! your post also has me so stoked to watch the tales of ba sing se reaction!!!

SeanTankTop

oh man! yeah I definitely want us to be a part of getting Ourselves and yall through Hump Day to get through the week!

Mads Peter Hansen

The run this show goes on from episode 7 until the end of season 2 is all time in tv history. There's not an episode that isn't at least good and most of them are great! Season 2 i my favourite, but i know a lot of people prefer season 3 and that just pretty much shows the quality of the show.

Isis Peoples

FOR PUNISHMENT FOR LIMITING ONE EPISODE PER WEEK: Yall gotta watch that shitty movie 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Isis Peoples

Its probably already in the books to do, but hey, its fun to "dish out punishment" We can call the event official pay back

Sean Silence

I don't have any problem with the new schedule, I'm just happy to have one haha. Always enjoy your reactions!

S3 finale coming June 2021 lol. I understand

witz

This episode has one of my favorite quotes in the show. ➡︎ Uncle Iroh : "Pride is not the opposite of shame, but it's source. True humility is the only antidote to shame.” Everything that Iroh says from like S2Ep.5 (Avatar Day) onwards is pure gold 👌🏼

SeanTankTop

seriously though. I said a variant of this quote to my brother the other day. Totally didn't credit Iroh. :D I did, actually but it's so fucking true.

wickedwolf

Y'all moose are giant murder cows you don't fuck with. The sabertooth part of that animal was the least concerning portion.

SeanTankTop

omg right?! I've only seen some of the videos of them but they could like, fuck up MOST things in our timeline.

I enjoyed the jokes about zukos lighting rod
