Smash Bran'Discootch

So a little behind the scenes stuff that might make Vax killing Thordak hit a bit harder. In the campaign itself, Vax did get the finishing blow on Thordak, but it meant waaaay more to Liam O'Brien(vax's player). See, a little bit prior to this, Liam had lost his mother IRL. Afterwards, he had a pretty heavy health scare himself and was also really struggling with depression. It was bad enough to where he legitimately didn't think he could do the show anymore. Matt, the DM and he are very close friends, so Matt started developing story beats in a way to where Liam was using this game as a way to work through the heavy emotions he was feeling at the time. It started with Vax's sacrifice to The Raven Queen and learning to accept death as a concept and to learn how not to fear it. Which became central to Vax's character. Then, for Liam as Vax to be able to strike down the thing that killed his character's mother after losing his own mother in real life was incredibly cathartic for him. He's talked several times since how this story saved him in a lot of ways. I'm really glad the animated series preserved that. I have some...issues with this season, but those all come as a fan of the original medium so I'm not going to bore you guys with any of those. As a lover of good media and stepping away from my fanboyness, I'd give the overall season an 8.5
