Religion is always a thing you have to consider when worldbuilding! At its most basic, here are some religious practices in Chorsida! With sketches from my notebooks. I suppose this gives a  glimpse at the type of margin-doodles I have in my notebooks. Sometimes it's easier to draw something than describe it. 

WORSHIP___________________________________________________________________

HOW TO PRAY

  • Bow your head and touch your forehead with the fore finger / middle finger / ring finger of your left hand


SYMBOL OF THE GODS

  • Eleven triangles, one for each go


TYPES OF SHRINES

  • Falcons = Church
  • Crow = Roman style temple (open air with pillars and a roof)
  • Mouse = garden shrines (surrounded by flowers)
  • Crocodile = open air shrines (sacred ground and stone monoliths)
  • Addax = worship before a sword / weapon thrust into the ground
  • Buffalo = yard shrines
  • Tiger = indoor household shrines
  • Panther = no shrine - just meditation (the mind is a temple)
  • Lion = Temples (lots of colored tiles and mosaics)
  • Jackal = Mountain top temple
  • Firefly = pilgrimage location in Beacon village center (a fallen star location)


TALISMEN

  • Necklaces with pendants on them that have some kind of symbol representing an individual god. Or the symbol for all the gods.


FUNERALS

  • The dead are usually burned on a funeral pyre. The style of pyre differs between areas.
  • LIONS:
    • pyre out in the desert, burned alongside ten other bonfires
  • TIGERS:
    • pyre is on a boat on the water, a weapon is burned with the dead
  • PANTHERS:
    • pyre under the stars, loved ones write letters to burn with the pyre
  • CROWS:
    • pyre is burned on the ocean, everyone feasts afterward
  • FALCONS:
    • pyre is burned in front of a church, loved ones fast on that day
  • CROCODILES:
    • pyre is on a boat in the water, the dead shrouded in white
  • JACKALS:
    • pyre on a mountain top, they howl
  • MICE:
    • pyre in the desert, the dead covered in flowers
  • BUFFALO:
    • pyre in the fields, the ashes then buried and a tree planted on top
  • ADDAX:
    • pyre in the desert, the living play music and dance around the pyre
  • FIREFLIES:
    • pyre on the ocean, accompanied by lanterns
