Another worldbuilding post!! Today... the holidays of Chorsida!!

There is a major holiday based on the values and worship of each of the gods... lets check them out! One of these holidays falls on my birthday (because of course!) but I won't say which one...

I will make a separate post about what they call the months and days. But for clarity's sake the dates are written by our calendar.

HOLIDAYS___________________________________________________________________

  • NEW YEAR
  • January 1 (1/1)
  • Holiday celebrating the birth of a new year.
  • Celebrated in all countries.
  • Its usually celebrated with fireworks, music, dancing and festival foods.
  • The festivals are usually town-wide and not celebrated individually.
  • The main tradition is sparkler sticks which kids like to play with.


  • CROCODILE’S NIGHT
  • February 21 (2/21)
  • Holiday celebrating death and chaos.
  • Celebrated in Oberth Ra mainly, but elsewhere too.
  • Unlike Panther’s night, this holiday doesn’t honor the spirits of the dead.
  • Crocodile’s night celebrates death itself.
  • Huge bonfires are lit and drum music played.
  • Everyone is encouraged to live the night as if it were their last.


  • JACKAL’S DAY
  • March 16 (3/16)
  • A fun holiday celebrating clever trickery.
  • Celebrated by playing tricks and pranks on your friends (like April Fools)
  • The pranks are supposed to be harmless fun.
  • Celebrated everywhere


  • ADDAX DAY
  • April 30 (4/30)
  • Holiday celebrating parents.
  • Celebrated by children giving gifts to their parents.
  • This holiday is celebrated in all countries, however the Tigers celebrate the holiday in reverse (the parents give the children gifts instead.)


  • CROW’S WEEK
  • First week of May (5/1 to 5/7)
  • Holiday celebrating commerce.
  • The week long celebration is held in Montelupine.
  • It’s like a gigantic flea market where traders from all nations come to buy and sell goods.


  • TIGER DAY
  • June 3 (6/3)
  • Holiday celebrating sports and athletics. Kind of like the local olympics
  • A Major holiday in Oberth Ra, celebrated in the Falling Lea
  • The holiday is an all day and night collection of sport competitions held between the Tiger villages.
  • Winners are awarded wreaths and crowns.
  • Other races/clans can also come and compete too, but usually just watch.
  • Sports include: martial arts, races, wrestling, endurance, archery, sword fights, mounted (on tigers) games, kids competitions, creels & long-jumps


  • LION DAY
  • July 20 (7/20)
  • Holiday celebrating the freedom to go or do whatever you please.
  • A major holiday in Loxaera but celebrated elsewhere.
  • Celebrated by traveling, going hiking, outdoor activities, picnics, etc
  • Kids like to wear grass collars/manes to look like lions.


  • BUFFALO DAY
  • August 13 (8/13)
  • A harvest festival
  • Celebrating one of the biggest harvests of the year.
  • Food stalls are set up with specialty meals made using that year’s crops.
  • Everyone eats lots and there is music and dancing.
  • Celebrated in Cauterin by the Buffalo, its a popular tourist holiday.


  • MOUSE DAY
  • September 27 (9/27)
  • Holiday celebrating love and romance
  • Celebrated by spending time with those you love.
  • Not just spouses, but also platonic love and friendship.
  • Its tradition to give gifts that are mouse themed. Like mouse-shaped food, toys, or jewelry.


  • PANTHER NIGHT
  • October 24 (10/24)
  • Holiday celebrating the spirits of the departed.
  • Celebrated after dark, everyone wears spirit masks and pays their respect to the dead.
  • Everyone carries coins to give to the spirits if they see them.
  • Children also wear masks and pretend to be spirits on this night (like Halloween) and are given coins by adults.
  • There is a parade held in The Lapis Wood where Panthers dress as spirits, marching and dancing through the misty forest.


  • DAY OF ELEVEN:
  • November 11th (11/11)
  • Holiday celebrating the 11 gods. A unified holiday.
  • Celebrated with a huge feast with friends and family.
  • Everyone gives thanks to their individual gods
  • Similar to Thanksgiving.
  • Feasts include all kinds of food depending on location. But everyone always includes the traditional Monkey Bread.
  • The monkey bread recipes vary, but the most popular is caramel apple monkey bread.


  • FALCON’S NIGHT
  • November 23 (11/23)
  • Holiday celebrating the stars.
  • Every year on this night, there is a huge meteor shower.
  • Everyone gathers outside to look at the stars and make wishes.
  • Traditionally, everyone eats a special treat. Star shaped candies made out of maple sugar.
  • Celebrated everywhere.


  • NIGHT OF THE FIREFLIES
  • December 14 (12/14)
  • Holiday celebrating peace, love, and the birth of the Mortals.
  • Celebrated at night.
  • On this night floating lanterns are lit and released into the sky, making it look like the sky is full of fireflies.
  • Everyone decorates their homes.
  • Everyone gives each other gifts (like Christmas)
  • Celebrated everywhere
