Do you enjoy my suffering? Would you care to suffer with me?

I see hella ppl talk shit about the chorus on stepping stone, and while I can understand it, I love that whole song because I have a soft spot for encore and stepping stones remind me a lot of his music from that era, especially the beat and the way he sings and layers his vocals on the chorus. Like it reminds me of the way he sings on spend some time lol

Rhys

I definitely feel Eminem has moved on from his opinions he had on this record. Like he's worked with newer rappers and shit.

Raul

Top 5 Eminem album idc what anyone says

deadedgo

Looking back now a lot of the songs are still entertaining because of the infinite amount of flows (as almost any Eminem album I guess) and bars but 90% of the content is a reaction to all that was hyped in 2017-18. It's kinda tough to catch all the references now because so much of it is forgotten by now. I don't think it should be criticized for that. I think Em also deserves credit for making the "fuck mumble rap" shit peak (and thus indirectly ending it) without this record being too cringey. Even the Yachty comment on the first track wasn't even a diss. Kamikaze definitely worked perfectly when it dropped but didn't make much sense a couple months later. Music to Be Murdered By was the sequel Kamikaze needed. Much more longevity for that one. I believe he's going in the right direction still

Gabe

Hearing these songs for the first time in years has me seriously questioning how the fuck I ever enjoyed this album lmao.

Almost 5 years later and I still think the album (more-so than not at least) was fun and successful in giving what Em wanted to showcase at the time: reactionary anger through amazing lyricism Wished you focused a bit more on some of the double, sometimes triple entendres throughout, and a bit of a bummer you didn't enjoy it that much, but your sentiments are understandable (e.g. quickly outdated in hindsight, a lot of punching down, losing interest in the album as each track makes it clearer and clearer that it's mostly just that aforementioned reactionary anger with hit-or-miss beats) Fun Em journey to follow overall and looking forward to its conclusion with that tier list!

Billy

Revival and Kamikaze is the worst back to back album run in hip hop history (out of credible rappers). Idk what the hell he was thinking bruv. He's fucking EMINEM. Crying for two albums because nobody likes him as a sober artist is painful. He is still VERY skilled but has absolutely nothing to say. The bending word shit is cool for like one song per album but not every single verse waffling absolutely nothing

Jake

Can you please do Bad Meets Evil it’s the album he did with Royce Da 5’9 and it’s one of his best

Vlairity

jon & chat were both very harsh lol eminem was clearly joking around in that skit to paul, it's over-the-top on purpose. also, it's nowhere NEAR as bad as revival 😭

Mitch Cook

Yeah I agree, I don’t think this albums bad at all. Normal and Nice Guy can get in the bin but the rest is fine to great. A lot of people seem to get off on spamming the chat with anti-Eminem stuff. Same in Fantano’s chat, just over-hating to come off as some rap/hip-hop connoisseur. At least Jon’s criticisms are mostly valid & well constructed, I just enjoy parts of Eminem’s new music more than he does.

Vlairity

yeah they're definitely just fantano stans that infest every chat they can find. i'm not even that much of an em fan, but omg is jon's chat overreacting.

People kept grouping this album with MTBMB in saying Em is bitter but in reality I think outside of 1 song, he’s just doing his own thing on MTBMB and I love that album and will die on the hill of it being great

Rudra

I really enjoy this album without thinking it's a great album just because it's a return to rapping with passion for Eminem after Revival.

Rudra

Eminem has actually done a lot of grown up songs over the past 15 years, but he very rarely strings them together. I feel like part of that is him not wanting to get too personal anymore (he doesn't talk about his family as much in songs), and also him sometimes seeming to just want to have fun with words and syllables and be silly. I think Music To Be Murdered By (side a) was the best combo of technical ability and songwriting we've had from him since Recovery, and I think it's his 4th best album ever, but it would be interesting to see where he goes from here. An Eminem and Alchemist EP would be dope, I'd also love to hear him with Daringer on griselda style beats, or for him to work with other legendary producers he hasn't done much with (Premier, Pharrell, etc). I'd also love for him to work more with newer lyricists like JID, Boogie, Grip, Conway, etc

This record and Encore are without question the most dated albums in Em’s canon. For a multitude of reasons….Kamikaze I liked more upon initial release….but yeah…hearing this now….it does feel like ‘Em needed a moment to shout at the world and say FUCK YOU off his chest for the absurd overhate on Revival. Let’s just say Music to be Murdered by is in the convo for top three Eminem albums of all time. It’s a masterpiece. Em is back on top form. & really wish you could re listen to both SIDE A & B from M2BMB once more. As the ultimate palate cleanser from this.

Rhys

Some of the chat was overreacting so much omg hahah

TK

Never have I enjoyed an album so much when it came out and disliked it so much only a few years later

Jimlhj

Kinda strange to see this and then go back to your old reactions to these songs with your old pal from rock reacts, totally different vibe to say the least (even to the kamikaze song lol). Almost as if you have become older and bitter .. just like .. oh wait Its all good tho, overall fun journey!

stwish

Lol diff opinions years later = old and bitter, interesting.

Jimlhj

Just pointed out the transition, it is def noteworthy. Don't worry the last part was a reference joke, thought it would be clearer. Vibe = opinion, interesting.

JD!! Pleaaasseee react to a Flatbush Zombies album. So much of the new music is so trash nowadays that Flatbush Zombies are a breathe of fresh air. Their slept on but can guarantee you’ll have more fun than a lot of albums coming out this year.

Ben

Do you not think there was a ton of trash music in every era or something lol?

Finicher

This is my least favourite eminem album. I don’t know if anyone cares but here is my ranking of the albums. 1. SSLP 10/10 2. MMLP 9.5/10 3. Encore 9/10 4. TES 9/10 5. Relapse 9/10 6. MMLP2 8.5/10 7. Recovery 8/10 8. MTBMB 7/10 9. Revival 7/10 10. Kamikaze 6/10 11. Infinite 3/10

Finicher

U need to listen to devils night by D12. Released in 2001 and got some of eminems best verses / hooks.

Adam

revival as 7/10 and encore as 9/10 is wild

Finicher

Revival has (walk on water, believe, nowhere fast, in your head, castle and arose. All 10/10 songs imo. The river, remind me and framed are also great imo. The revival interlude is also a masterpiece.

Finicher

I will never understand the encore hate. It’s a near masterpiece. Eminem in his prime, recorded in 2003. Literally some of the best songs in hip hop… period. One of his best concept albums, some of the best production, hooks, most catchy songs like crazy in love and puke. It’s on par if not better than TES for me.

Shady Racing S1

Let s be honest production and quality control is what s holding him back , but the hate towards this album is interesting . Wish you heard that with a not as a negative attitude for your own enjoyment , good looking out

aiishh

factos - plus you can really see the influence of proof on that project - just listen to revelation, will be a revelation lmaoo

Josh Plouffe

this album aged like milk ..it is unlistenable at points
