5/13/24 - Hazelnut Latte Progress Report (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

Another day of working on the game :D

I didn't do a whole lot yesterday. Gave myself a small recovery day. (saw Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and then played way too much Destiny 2) But I did iron out my plan for Episode 6! So hopefully I can start writing that very soon.

But how is Episode 5? Well, the word count barely changed. I tweaked and added a few things. 132 words worth. Not a crazy amount. The total word count is now over 81k! Which rules. Today I was mainly doing sprites!

For those who don't know, this is the process of adding the visuals to the novel you are playing. Every time the characters change pose and expression.

So I have almost all of Episode 5 sprited! Except for The Big Scene. That is because A. I'm hungry. But more importantly B. I need new sprites. There are two side characters who will be introduced that Kokman is going to draw sprites for. It's a scene with FIVE characters on screen, so I want the correct sprites before I try to make that visually look good.

But everything else is pretty much done! There are a few instances where I don't have the correct sprite yet, but the file name will be the same once I get it so it'll update automatically once I get that.

I also went in and added unlockables for the gallery! Making sure they unlock correctly and have the proper thumbnails. Currently Episode 5 has 3 unlockable replays and 7 gallery images to unlock! When Episode 5 is done, it will have 4 replays and probably more gallery images. 2 replays for Hazel and 2 replays for Vera. (Don't worry, Jeze and Dave have gallery unlocks)

So, what's left?

There is a bit left to do, but it's mainly art. It's funny, when I was working my full time job, Kokman frequently got ahead of me on art. Now that I'm full time on this game dev thing, I'm ahead of him! (sucker heh) Which is fine. I get to write ahead and also work on other gam- I mean, yeah, write ahead.

Here is what I am waiting on:

• Sprites for two new side characters. They'll each have about 5 expressions and only 1 outfit. Maybe two poses.

• An underwear sprite for Vera (we somehow missed this?)

• An alternative sprite for Hazel (secret secret)

• Hazel's last lewd scene of the episode

• 10+ cgs for important plot moments

That last one may sound a bit crazy, but it's going to be awesome.

When is the next Alpha?

While I wait for sprites, I am going to make sure the audio and music are perfect. And then doing a few bug passes. After I get the first two items on that art checklist and get them implemented, I will release v0.11.2 for $20+ backers.

When will this be public?

Anyway!!! Thank you all so much for your support! I just realized I skipped lunch so I'm gonna have a nice dinner and watch the Smiling Friends Season 2 premiere.
