omg I love Danny Elfman SO MUCH!! And after Williams he's my fav composer. And while I'd love to attribute the mission impossible theme song Danny Elfman, it's actually Lalo Schifrin. This movie was based on a movie from the 60s and the tropes were the song, the cool setup heists, and the masks!! The cinematography you pointed out is the actual points of style that defines the director, Brian de Palma (ESP the split screen\close-ups. Whenever I talk to ppl they're always hot or cold on de Palma and I get it. While he's not my favorite he definitely sets himself apart and has certainly had an impact on the industry. Great react by the way. I really enjoyed it

As much as I love Elfman, MI’s music starts to get good when Michael Giacchino got brought on. And coincidentally enough, JJ Abrams was the one who made it popular with MI3 and was responsible for producing all the movies up to Fallout.
