This is a post by Finneas, and I love that he is always mentioning every name, when he could easily hide it and get all the credit. “This album was written by Billie and Me, Produced by Me Engineered by Billie, Aron Forbes, and Me Mixed by Jon Castelli and Aron Forbes, Mastered by Dale Becker Strings were played by the Attacca Quartet, composed by me orchestrated by David Campbell and me Live drums were played by Andrew Marshall Our publicist Alexandra Baker, our managers Danny Rukasin and Brandon Goodman, our label Justin Lubliner, John Janick, Chelsea Dodson, Michele An, Sam Riback, our parents and Claudia This album is my favorite thing l've ever been a part of making and there were so many times during the making of it that I thought we'd never finish it or had no idea what we were doing I lost count- just goes to show- when you're in it, you might just have to try to keep swimming- you can only really see the ocean once you're on the shore- I'm going offline now because what you all think of this album is your business, not mine but I really do hope you like it- we make everything with you in mind and we owe it all to you- thanks for the sick job/life. We're so lucky”

This album is incredible and I loved your reaction to it. It feels like a more mature and refined version of her debut album but even better with a variety of new sounds. Chihiro is definitely my favorite track, though it's hard to rank any of the songs because the whole album is a solid 10/10.

So Billie and Finneas’s parents actually don’t have industry ties like that, they were struggling actors and their first album was produced in their parents house in l.a. which is pretty small. And Finneas produces every album/song. Billie has also helped produce parts of hit me hard and soft as well, which was produced in finneas’s home in his basement studio. Also ocean eyes was her very first single and she sang that when she was 13! You were right The diner is from her stalkers pov Also billie said she feels like she was born to sing jazz and said shes heavily influenced by that and mainly the beatles. Others include avril lavigne, frank sinatra, childish gambino, johnny mathis, ella fitzgerald, peggy lee, sarah vaughan, lana del rey ect…

If you have familiarity with Bossa Nova Jazz, Billie Bossa Nova is such a cool and springy song by Billie to check out. The lyrics and vocal tonation is dark per the usual and the classic Bossa beat is so infectious and light. It creates an awesome atmosphere. I loved this first time reaction! It was my first time hearing it as well and now I have lots of great music to add to my Spotify playlist.

Hey Kai, I’d love to see more Kendrick full album reactions. Him & OutKast & Ye best discographies in hip hop, but for me Kendrick recently took GOAT status from Ye after the beef.

I've never been much of a fan of Billie's albums, I've liked a few songs, but not the albums as a whole. This one though, I think is great. I like every song on this album. Skinny is probably my favorite, but they're all good. I also like that she's really showing us her voice here, and not doing the whisper singing she tends to do in a lot of her previous work.

You were on point about The Diner. It’s from the perspective of someone stalking her

I usually try to resist ranking songs on an album, or favourite artists, but I sometimes fall into that trap. After listening to the album three times my fav’s at this point are Chiro and Skinny. Just love the delicate melodies she is capable of. (dad)

The only Bosa Nova I know is a little Astrud Gilberto and Lisa Ono from Japan. Will check out your recommendation! (dad)

Kai and I have thinking “ more Kendrick albums” for a while . Not sure why we haven’t really, but it will happen for sure. Thanks for the reminder.

TheFrontRoom

Did you find it a bit wanting like we did? I thought it could have sounded a little more creepy, a little more unhinged, but in a quiet sort of way of course. (dad)

Hi, great reaction loved the video, im wondering if you guys are going to do any nas albums maybe It was written, Stillmatic with takeover and ether or maybe his modern version like KD series?

Precious

Enjoyed this. I typically only like a few songs off of Billies albums. I thought this entire project was great.

TheFrontRoom

With so many artists we haven’t reached yet I think we might be giving Nas a bit of a rest. But I never know what Kai is intending so maybe ...

I will admit this is the first time I’ve given Billie a chance after writing her off as a young emo kid mumbling. This was spectacular- harmonies, layers, runs, production, movement… Teaches me not to judge a book. Thanks for the intro, guys

This album to me was about a relationship. Skinny was her accepting the relationship with herself and finally getting into a good place after the last album and willing to love again. Lunch was the honeymoon phase. Chihiro was about the red flags she sees but ignores cause as we know we are blind to it in the beginning. Birds of feather was the feeling of being trapped in a toxic relationship. Wildflower was her looking outside her experiences saying how a lot of women deal with this almost saying it out loud to justify her feelings. The greatest is almost a reprise to skinny as it’s her wake up and gaining belief in herself the toxic sapped out of her. The lamour song is the reprise of birds of feather the opposite of being trapped is free which is the calm bossa nova feel and emotional explosion at the end. The diner is I think Billie being the stalker more in a current day like following what they do on instagram being mad they are happy so soon after the breakup I feel she did it in a metaphor where the digital stalking is basically just as bad as the physical. Bittersuit is her trying to move on and her subconscious and dreams won’t let her like when you do an activity and think about the breakup cause it was a favorite thing you did together the struggle to move on if you will. Blue is acceptance and the throwing aside of the last bit of toxic clinging to her subconscious to be really free by confronting her true feelings on the relationship accepting it’s over and both people did things that ended it. Idk when I first heard I listened to it no stops and it really connects better if you do the whole album but it felt like a movie of a toxic relationship.
