Havent watched yet but I am so excited for it

Anthony Mendoza

Holy smokes seeing these suggestions make me want to see another cover themed peoples choice because I was only trying to think of rap but now I have some amazing songs to suggest

Anthony Mendoza

I would also like so suggest a 80’s themed peoples choice because Kai’s dad said he wanted to hear more early rap and I got some good freestyle suggestions like Lisa Lisa and Jet

AuntyPhylie

The Weeknd's version of Dirty Diana doesn't sound as passionate or aggressive as MJ. I love Anita Baker & Lalah's versions of Angel tho 🤌🏾 Luther Vandross was in touch with his feminine side and although he never was 'out', the community knew he was queer...

ProRenae

I would love to watch yall react to the Thiller album. It still holds up all these years later.

ProRenae

Listen to Daydreaming by Aretha. That songs sends me on clouds. And it's been sampled sooo many times.

Jr Rick

Please do more Luther vandross

Gemintheye

Mannn this was a great people chocie

Jamil King

need more anita baker reactions, you bing me joy is a great one to check out

Precious

Thank you again for choosing my theme suggestion. Everyones suggestions were great! 1. Anita is one of my favorite artist and what you would call the favorite artist of your favorite artist..check out Body & Soul, Rapture, You Bring Me Joy 2.Lala Hathaway is a vocal beast. Check out her performance with Snarky Puppy. 3. Luther’s voice and delivery is top notch! You have to check out his concert/live versions 4. Enjoyed the Fleetwood Mac song dad suggested but LOVED Santana’s cover a tad more. 5. I’m a huge Kayne fan but definitely agree with your girlfriend Kai, Daniel has the better version lol

Kat

This was so good! Luther was the king of covers! At work now, but I'm gonna think of some suggestions and come back.

ProRenae

I love how much yall love Luther. My heart is about to burst. Thanks. Yall made my day.

Precious

Also.. Yes!! To the Maxwell’s This Woman’s Work. I suggested it in the past but his entire Urban Hang Suite album is a must listen.

Jen M

I’m with Dad, MJs version > The Weeknd’s

Hodge House

Ooohhhhhh this is awesome!! I'll have to come back. The Patreon app is buggin and won't play the video.

Jen M

Correction: dad said he couldn’t decide, but he sounded like MJs was better 🤣

Jen M

Ok, I haven’t finished watching yet, but when I heard the Carpenters song, I was shocked thinking, who did Luther’s song like that!! 🤣 All I’ve ever know was Luther’s version! I grew up on Luther’s music. ❤️ Good to hear the original version tho.

Adrienne

Wheewwww!!!!! This episode was SO good! This definitely made my day. 🥰

TheFrontRoom

If forced, I’d have to give it to Michael, in part because he wrote it and performed it first. That has to be given some weight in a an original/cover battle!

Kenysha

This is probably my most favorite People's Choice to date! Definitely do a Maxwell reaction song. He is incredible!

Jen M

Well, thank you for choosing my suggestion!! ❤️❤️❤️Roy Ayers wins for the originality, but MJB wins for the vocals and lyrics. The message of her song is about feeling sad and depressed, but also encouraging the listener to have faith, work through it, and don’t give up. So that along with the positivity and beauty of the Ayers palette (if you will) imo makes it such a complete and touching song. By the way, autocorrect put that darn apostrophe in there, so I’m sorry about that. 🤣

Jen M

Guys, I really enjoyed this one! It was superb. I’d love to see you do, This Woman’s Work; both versions. Btw, the R&B singer, Tank, has his own version called: Can’t Let It Show. Also, shout out to the person that recommended the Luther cover. That was actually my favorite part of this video!! 👏🏾

Jen M

All Cried Out by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam!! Top notch!! ❤️

Tnulb

Fantastic People's Choice!!

Tnulb

A couple mellow vibes song suggestions that I find myself coming back to: -"Cold War" by Cautious Clay -"Gone" by Chiiild

Mickey10 JB

Cruisin- DAngelo Cruisin- Smokey Robinson

Zina

I ❤️ Luther his concerts were mind blowing. When ever he came to my city I was there.

Zina

This was 🔥🔥🔥

Jordan Richardson

There’s one live performance at the Apollo theater Lalah Hathaway sings of her dad’s “a song for you” that literally brought me to tears. She’s i ridiculously underrated

jeff baker

Dare I say, my favorite people's choice yet.

jeff baker

I wouldn't even worry about reacting to it for the channel, just sit back and spend a day listening to Luther. He will have you in love, excited, dancing and shedding a tear

Dee

Best episode yet!!! ♥️

Dee

More Luther Vandross please! I’m recommending his live performance of A House Is Not A Home at the 1988 NAACP Image awards.

Loreena

Tamia covered that song on her Between Friends album in 2006

Chanelle O

Fun story there is a clip of Michael Jackson meeting Princess Diana and Prince Charles before he performs and Princess Diana whispers to Michael to ask him if he is going to play Dirty Diana and he said no he removed it from the set out of respect for her and she told him that was her favorite song.

Joylynn06

One of my favorite Lalah Hathaway songs is When Your Life Was Low with Joe Sample and Something with Snarky Puppy.

BigHomieAnt

Luther x Superstar and Mary J Blige “My Life” are two of my favorite songs ever.

E M

Loved this idea! If y’all do covers again, I recommend “Who Can I Run to by The Jones Girls covered by Xscape and Human Nature by Michael Jackson covered by SWV 🔥

Joylynn06

I’d like to suggest the cover of Crazy Love by Brian McKnight original by Van Morrison.

Jr Rick

Do killing me softly Roberta flack covered by Luther vandross/ Steve wonder lately covered by jodeci

Storm

I didn’t know until recently how many songs of Luther’s are covers. But once he does, it is his.

KAZBAAH

DEFINITELY REACT TO THE KATE BUSH & MAXWELL COVERS OF "THIS WOMAN'S WORK"! Side Note: When you cover Maxwell's version, make sure you check out "MTV Unplugged" video version of it. 👏🏾👏🏾You will thank me later.☺

KAZBAAH

Kai, I can definitely see you as the professor of any university teaching students how to properly breakdown music "instrumentally & emotionally (the feeling it gives you)". BRAVO MY FRIEND!👏🏾

Robin

I think you guys should react to The Jackson 5 “All I Do Is Think of You” and Troop cover of the song. BTW, loved this episode!

Richard

Great pics this week guys.. Kai I have a suggestion for your camera problem. You can put a mirror behind the camera so you can see it from where you're sitting and don't have to keep getting up to check it. Our suggestions for next week are... Snoop Dogg and John Legend- I Can Change (2004) Ice T- Colors (1988)

Adrienne

Suggestion: Snoh Aalegra - “Whoa” or “I Want You Around”

Sheivon Jackson

My fav ppl choice yet ny only suggestion is a part 2 of covers cause I didn't want it to end. Great job fellas💯💖 SN: gotta love how beautiful Aretha sang about stalking a ex😂😂😂 #IYKYK

Storm

I loved you guys reaction to Luther. Well the whole section of Aretha, The Carpenters and him. The longing, the love. Ugh. Luther really was one of the greats. And he has many covers. Especially to Dionne Warwick songs

Precious

Great suggestion! The entire “Maxwell MTV Unplugged” is a must watch/listen.

Precious

I was in complete awe of her performance with Snarky Puppy 🤯

Precious

Just listened to it because of your comment. The performance was absolutely beautiful.

Shaquea White

OMG!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THIS PEOPLE CHOICE VIDEO. Sorry for yelling, but I'm so serious. Lol.

ficy

Erick Sermon feat. Marvin Gaye - Music (It's just a sample, but the business of music gets Marvin a featured artist credit) Oran "Juice" Jones - The Rain

Anthony Mendoza

I would to recommend Just Breathe - Pearl Jam

Janhann Turner

Wonderful people’s choice this week guys…..More Luther Vandross!… he has such an incredible voice, and such an in depth catalog too…luv the covers done this week…

Felicia Wiggins

Ok I freaking ❤️ this entire ride!!! 1st) Anita Baker is a MUST to revisit! My fave is the slightly less popular 'Fairytales' but u can pick ANYTHING lol! 2) Luther was the babymaking voice! Its (probly) a scientific fact the birthrate went up 8-9 months after Luther came to town! 😂 A House Is Not a Home is the song Kai was referring to that Kanye sampled and my fave Luther song! Dad keep ur tissues handy for that one! 3) Always knew Roy Ayers bcuz my Dad was a HUGE record collector but My Life was my 1st theme song ever!! Hoping to see Mary J for Mother's Day this year! 🙏🏽

WaterLord Jaz

The next theme one should be songs that have been sampled a lot. You can see if you can guess what songs sampled it. One of my favorite Debarge song is stay with me and it been sampled a good amount of times Request songs : Gimme all your love- Alabama Shakes Giveon- stuck on you Sebastian Mikael- Time

Shaquea White

OMG!!!! I can't wait to watch this!!!!

Zina

Sara. A

These People's Choice videos keep getting better and better! I hope you two can finally dive into some India.Arie. My recs are Ready for Love, Can I Walk With You or Beautiful!

Fade’sha Harris

16@ war by Karina Pasian Must be nice by Lyfe jennings

Sheivon Jackson

Those were both my suggestions for covers I left in the comments lol. Hopefully we get them sooner than later💯💖

Tawanda

This was such a joy to watch. That is exactly the reaction to have to Luther singing Superstar, Kai's Dad❤️

Carla Davis

I was today years old when I found out that the carpenters did Superstar first. 😳 And Luther Vandross is cherished in the AA community. WE LOVE HIM. He is like the male versiob of Whitney Houston. No one has a voice like Luther.

Rene Afon

If you have not heard Luther Vandross "A House Is Not A Home" you definitely need to. It is the song that most of those rappers sample from. Luther Vandross had it rough, he was a closeted gay man which he hid for his entire life. It was only after his death that his friends revealed his sexuality. I think he was a very lonely man.

Rene Afon

Mary J was a sample not a cover. It would be interesting if you did a sample vs original episode.

Fatima

Amazing reaction. I truly enjoyed it. Great selections ❤️

Simira

My fav one yet. All classic/timeless songs

HeeeyOhaji-_-

Luther was not at all a “lady killer”, he was gay. Don’t get me wrong, women definitely used to lose their minds over him when he was on stage singing, but off stage nope.

HeeeyOhaji-_-

I don’t know if it’s right or wrong but EVERY little 12yo girl in my middle knew every single song on Mary’s My Life album backwards and forwards. 😂 Very important album to many generations of women. Hope you react to it one day. Even if you don’t you should listen to the song My Life again bc you weren’t really listening to it if we’re being real.
