Oh BOY this is going to be a very long comment, since this is one of my favourite kpop solo albums of all time! (I might get a bit pretentious about it LMAO) What I love about this album so much is how much it's a very intimate album for GDragon (which makes sense since he's VERY heavily involved in production of his solo music, and BigBang music as well for that matter) - it's a whole narrative, an emotional journey from 1st track to the last, continuing the themes that were already showing through in Coup D'Etat but fleshing them out a lot more. Middle Fingers Up is a very cocky, playful track - painting himself as this superstar at the very top, hounded by media, partying, above it all. Bullshit continues in the same manner, although more aggressively, more , using a metric fuck ton of wordplay and slang to the point that when I first saw any lyric videos or translations they were borderline incomprehensible LMAO, I absolutely love the self-reference to Crayon, again reminding of this image from his Heartbreaker and One of a Kind eras. But then SuperStar comes on, and suddenly he's singing about emptiness and loneliness in spite of wealth and fame, in a way that's somehow very self-aware. Personally it's my favourite song from the album because I think the juxtaposition of this depressing subject matter with this airy, soft, even carefree sound gives this song such an amazing, *melancholy* feeling. It hits hard even after 6 years (wth how has it been 6 years already-). Then Untitled, 2014 comes on, which is a soft, devastating love song. This track was actually the main promotional single of the album, which i think is a fascinating choice considering the entire intimate, personal concept of this album and what GD wanted to express with it, and when it came out I swear it was Everywhere. I'm happy you discovered he's also an amazing singer because YEAH!!! Yeah, I think he can do everything at this point lol. And then finally Divina Commedia as the closer to the album completes this emotional journey of the album. It is my second favourite song of the album, just sightly behind SuperStar, and oh boy what a song it is - right from the title referencing the Divine Comedy, in which the protagonist travels through hell, purgatory, and paradise, to his emotional line delivery. He sings about feeling numb and about this disconnect with the world, and yet it feels like somehere in there there are traces of hope as well. Devastating song. So yeah! G-Dragon's artistry and creativity will always have me by the throat. I don't usually pay attention to the lyrics in music - they can sing about whatever as long as they do it well, but this album is one of the very few exceptions. My two favourite songs are SuperStar and Divina Commedia! :D ALSO I hope you get well soon out of this cold! (Slight comment about the BigBang-y sound you mentioned - they absolutely have this party sound in their title tracks, and in some of their b-sides as well, however a lot of their stuff is similar to what you heard here, "Cafe" being my personal favourite (G-Dragon flexes his vocals in that too - now I'm thinking that I might actually request that one one of these days lol). Their discography is a lot more diverse than their title tracks - one of my favourite things is that they deal in partying and melancholy equally :') )

did not mean to send that message but anyway overall this album is just not the type of music i like and would put on and listen to but i actually did definitely enjoy it! overall my ranking is: 1. Outro 2. Intro 3. Super Star 4. 무제 5. 개소리 The top 3 are really solid and i didn’t care for the other two but his vocals were nice on the ballad. i LOVE how playful he was and the melodies that kind of played on like children song tunes??? anyway im having fun this is so fun good night

My girlfriend who is a huge Big Bang fan recently showed me this album and I had the same top two tracks as you! I appreciate the breakdown. As soon as the chorus of Superstar came it shocked me. The way he sings "hello!" is so emotionally devastating while also having his playfulness quality to it. I love that kind of emotional duality in music. Whenever Superstar comes on now I immediately start tearing up but it's also a bop which is what makes it brilliant.
