This show came out of nowhere. It got overshadowed when it aired from other big releases. Everything in it is so well done, I just hope one day A1 pictures continues with it.

Thank you both for giving 86 a chance and everyone who voted for 86. Toshimasa Ishii is the director of 86, his very first show, and he absolutely nailed it. He even said he enjoyed working on 86 and hopes to do it again for a new season. This (ending) arc is no where near close to being top 5 arcs in the Light Novel. It just gets so much better and better.

Ron was right! Lena genuinely believed that she would never see them again (or even that they were dead), so as a result, she didn’t recognize it was them until she heard their voices and Shin stated his name as the former combat commander of the Spearhead Squadron. Also, she continuously says “wasuremasen” (meaning I won’t forget) nearing the end because she felt as if meeting this “new squad” meant leaving Shin, Theo, Kurena, Raiden, and Anju behind… but they were that “new squad” all along

She was also showed the 86 grave before meeting them with their old mech all battered and rusted. She probably realized that it was their mechs and cemented the idea that they died out there. So I always felt like the "reality" of them being dead was "confirmed" when she saw the 86 grave, only for that reality to be shattered after she meant them soon after. Just love this show.

The direction of this show has just been top tier the whole way through. Shin standing over Kiri, but flips to Shin on his knees and Kiri turning away. Shin is desperately trying to keep hold, the only goal he has, his only motivation for moving forward, until he loses it and is thrown back into a listless limbo. The callback to the first thing we see Eugene do is teach his sister that when someone does something nice for you, you say "thank you" and seeing her with his picture. It hits a whole lot harder at the gravestone when you see how genuinely happy she is about it. Absolutely incredible.

This anime is a masterpiece......I see how some feel pleased with this being the end of they don't continue.....but trust me if you read the light novels you will be voting for the next season ASAP Lol... I truly hope they continue. They have more than enough content ❤️

About Raiden: He set his Juggernaut on autopilot, because of that it only run straight. He jumped out to Fido so survive. Not really explained in the anime... In the Light Novel its better explained and they already mention that autopilot exisit. It never mentiond in the Anime. But still a great final <3

In episode 22, The screen turn black to white mean how Shin relive his pain hes carrying for the whole time. Thank to Lena that step inside the screen 7:38 which also mean she sort of step inside to Shin's heart. Then the screen turned white that Lena's word made Shin to relieve what he was and carrying for his whole journey.

One of the best endings to an anime season I’ve watched in a long time. The whole directing of these last two episodes is too good. I really hate that this show started to fly under the radar due to delays in the second cour when it was first airing, and it ended up that these last two episodes got delayed like two or three months. But these last two episodes when they finally came out hit like a ton of bricks. I know some people say that they don’t want the anime to continue since it ends so nicely but I’d really hate for it to end here. Hopefully A1 have it in them to continue adapting the light novel eventually but only time will tell. Nonetheless, thank you for picking up this show and I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I do

"The expected release date for '86 Season 3' was initially set for April 2023" so there will be season 3 ( I really hate they call it season 3 as it will honestly be season 2). But that April date isn't happening and now it's unconfirmed when the next season will release. My own guess now is September 2024 or fall 2024 timetable

It was a joy to see you guys react to 86 :) and I’m glad you touched upon everything that makes this series so special. And I agree, though I would love for the rest of the story to be animated, this is also a perfect ending. I think you would definitely enjoy a rewatch. There’s so many things you’ll catch a second and even a third time.

What a masterpiece. I can understand people being satisfied with it ending like this but the story gets better and better in the LN. I loved how everyone was shipping Shin and Lena^^ And Theo's fanart was just great.

I found the song "Voices of the Chord" on youtube before even watching this show and fell in love with it. Here I was watching for the first time with you guys and waiting and waiting for that version of the song to play all season and when it finally did in the penultimate episode.. 😭 I'll never listen to this song the same again. What a beautiful scene

Honestly I lost all hope for continuation of the anime, I bought the manga but then I realized it got cancelled so I kind of accepted the fact it won't have another season once again which lead me to buy the novels... it's written so well, I didn't read them all just yet because my life got bussier since then but I started reading it again because ur reaction just randomly popped up for me at YT and here am I now. haha... I sincerelly hope there is still a chance to get another season because I would love to see my favorits animated... I got into the 86 when AoT was comming out I dunno which season but it was one of the earlier ones. It was recomended to me by google tbh xD but I imediately fell in love with it I can't quite put my finger on it but it actually might be one of the best anime out there in my opinion. It's so underated and idk why T-T anyway enought of my life story haha THANK YOU for reacting to this masterpiece! ^^
