Oda has these things called Cover Stories - The LA partly covers the one with Garp & Koby - The others aren't in the anime so do you want us to keep y'all updated - The cover series happen side by side with the series - there's a Buggy cover series that the last episode of the LA doesn't cover but shows a scene from it - Buggy & Alvida

That first episode you can definitely see the tactics they use to stretch the episode, that sword flew through the air for ages, the punch reactions were all a few seconds longer than necessary. Compared to shows like re:zero where they remove the intro/outro as well as buy the ad segments from the network to get as much runtime as possible. Not a complaint just a comparison

The live action covered up to Arlong Park and then shows the feet on the barrel/declare their dreams scene which in the anime happens after Loguetown.

A lot of characters do return in One Piece but its ones you don't quite expect and they always return in an unexpected way. Someone from this arc will return a few hundred episodes from now and be a part of my personal favorite arc in One Piece. There is a minor detail in this arc that will have a payoff 500 episodes from now. One Piece is nuts.

Yeah, that’s definitely a problem with these older weekly anime. The more modern, season format is far superior in that regard. I hear Netflix is remaking the anime; One Piece story in a modern format will be amazing.

One of my favorite Luffy speeches is his “I can’t survive without help” that he does here. He’s just such an interesting character. He walks through life with this unwavering confidence, but at the same time, he is fully aware that he can not achieve his dream on his own and even embraces that truth.

The concept in One Piece is quite different from other show, Oda doesn't like to write about death unless it's very critical and important for the story. That's why there's no dead confirmation for the enemies, not only the fishmen but also Don Krieg, Kuro, etc. Oda learned from his grandma that it's not good to express/write about death so easily. So basically Luffy only beaten up the enemies so far.

Noticable fact: In the Manga Luffy is the only character in over 1000+chapters that NEVER got a "Thinking Bublble" he always just speaks things directly and loudly out wheras any other character usually has silent thinking moments. The anime adapts this behaviour perfectly.

I won't say which ones, but there ARE species other than just humans and fishmen. And sub-species to those species. Some you'll recognise, some might seem familiar but have made-up/different names, and some are new made-up completely by Oda!

I think it'll be better that, if they're not "dead," then you should definitely assume they've been taken away by the Marines/Navy and locked away in prison. You can assume that for most big names that Luffy takes down, the major enemies, but keep in mind that some previous enemies could come back in the future for whatever reason, whether it's "escaping from prison" or having never "been captured" after their defeat. This is not a spoiler, btw, it's just a clarification on how things in the One Piece world being glossed over have lead to most fans to assume and consider as appropriate "next steps" that we might not see in terms of aftermaths of fights and stuff. But don't worry, because there are several times where we actually find out what happens to a character that may or may not come back, either in following episodes or as flashbacks in future episodes.

Yes, actually, you guys don't need to worry about it being a spoiler. The topic of fishmen, and fishmen characters, does turn up again in the future multiple times. The context for why there will be focus on fishmen during those times will also be clearly expressed then too, so you don't need to worry about memorising names or faces or backgrounds of characters that you think might come back again. Just enjoy the show at your own pace lolz.

I don’t know if this is a spoiler but Luffy doesn’t kill. He just beats them unconscious. Marines normally swoops in afterwards and arrests them.

In the middle of each episode there is an eye catcher with one of the straw hats on it, and they all have their own little jingle to go with it! You guys could make it a game to try to remember the jingle and guess what character it is :) Just a suggestion <3

The live action was supposed to cover everything past Loguetown, but because of the budget and 8 episode limitation they ended up stopping at Arlong Park. They actually shot a lot of scenes in the loguetown arc, for instance the Dragon actor came out and said that he was very dissapointed that they used none of his acting in the show. This was because Loguetown was not included in the LA

A fan asked oda about why doesn't luffy kill after the buggy arc and he said this. Why doesn't Luffy kill his enemies? Because in that era, everyone uses their lives to fight for their dreams. For an enemy, when their dream has been shattered, it is the same as losing a fight, and as painful as death. I believe that, as pirates, killing or not killing is secondary to victory or defeat.
