Tanaka's momentary doubt is so relatable...

I'm glad that Tanaka became your favorite! And your motivation words at the end made my day! "My average self, do you really have time to look down like that?" I have Tanaka's acrylic panel of that specific scene in my room, his words are so relatable and motivating. Rewatching this many times, still amazed by Tanaka's VA. His acting is insane...heavy breathing when nothing went right...could feel the anxiety 🥲

bro, watching this like the 3rd time.. still gave me goosebumpss !!

The reason why Kanoka was sure that she got her heartbroken (not being accepted by Tanaka), was because she knew Tanaka was a very honest and straightforward guy ever since they knew each other. The night before when Tanaka accidentally blurted out that he was in love with Shimizu to Kanoka, even tho there was many misunderstanding behind + he asked her to forget about what he said, what he said at that night was also true. And she totally understood that, he was just being honest and straightforward just like how he does since back then. And same as his play! He didn’t gave up on his play and “tried until he can do it”, he also wouldn’t give up on the girl (Kiyoko) his heart was set on, and it broke her heart.

ugh hope I wasn’t typing too much, cuz the anime translation of what kanoka said was actually slightly different from what it truly meant from the original JP phrase, it might be unclear to u guys. But yeah hope u guys understand why kanoka feel that way!

I think we can all say with absolute certainty that Tanaka is the Goat in mental toughness. He's my favorite character on Team Karasuno (along with Noya and Kageyama). And I agree with Ron, Tanaka is by far the most relatable character in Haikyuu! There really isn't a single person I know who has seen Haikyuu and says they couldn't relate to Tanaka. Please leave lots of love for our amazing Tanaka here in the comments! ❤❤❤❤

why do have Tanaka something to explain? he is in love with Shimizu, just because someone else is liking him, it is not changing the fact he loves shimizu right? :D He is always straightforward and honest and he said to her "i have someone else", thats why she knows, that her heart is broken

This is why so many people love Haikyuu!! ❤️❤️❤️ There is so much to learn from and things to motivate people in this show. To explain some scenes, 7:43 Noya received the ball even though the ball was going to Tanaka is because Noya is the Libero, his task is to receive any balls he can so that his team attackers are free to attack when the setter sets the ball. If Tanaka had received the ball, he won't be able to attack and that means one less person to score for a point for the team. Even though Tanaka mental state was affected a little, Noya also knew Tanaka would understand and get back up. 15:21, Tsuki set the ball to Asahi instead of Tanaka was to break the streak of the blocks which was explained in the anime. I just love Hinata who is happy go lucky person that lightens up people without he himself knowing. 21:20 I have to break it to you that Kanoka is heartbroken as she knows Tanaka well and that he will not give up on his love. He blurted out that he has someone he is in love with already on the other night. From the flashback, Tanaka proposed to Kiyoko the first moment he met her, which you would call more than 'love at first sight' and he will not give up and do his best.

Tanaka is like subaru liking emilia hehehe

I love his honesty. He also did explain slightly in this episode that he shouldn’t go after someone just because he has a chance. He is amazing. Sad cos his childhood friend is such a catch but very amazing how honest tanaka is. Ps. I’m just secretly hoping tanaka realises he is just infatuated and not actually in love with kiyoko (I’m not a manga reader, don’t dash my dream)

that almost made me tear up :(

Tanaka is totally the most relatable character imo too. There are things about the other charcters you can relate to, understand and learn from, but Tanaka is the most relatable :p

Vimichi

this episode and tsukishima's episode from season 3 are my 2 fav episodes in the show. I absolutely love Tanaka and his mentality.

matias

Daichii does excel at something, he's a beast at receiving and defense in general :P

Let me be the first while I love Tanaka I could never relate to him. I agree he is the goat in mental toughness, but for me personally I related a lot more to Suga and Oikawa in fact I have experiance what they both have,. and they are my favourite anime characters of all time. Tanaka is lovable character for sure and he definitely has many moments in this season

This episode everytime made me cry a lot, I love so much this show. Saludos desde Chile

Tanaka has been working on that sharp cross spike since he saw Bokuto do it in the middle of season 2's training arc. To see him be the very embodiment of perseverance, his advice to his childhood friend of "just keep trying until you can" being fully actualized on SET POINT is one of my favorite moments of all anime.

ixchel

that´s why I love haikyuu, it´s so hard to have a favorite character

Mu Nanyo

Tanaka is a G for that. Persevering despite being just an average guy.
