I'm judoka (done it for 15 years) and I can tell from my experience that we also sometimes choke in competetion or training other so hard that they pass out. I haven't read manga but I can tell by these scenes that he's just passed out. It takes more to kill someone by choking.

I think its less about the chocking and more about the brute strength he has. With a good grasp of his neck, you can break his trachea and adams apple, and he was prob strong enough to just snap his neck if he wanted to.

true, truly strong, however snake used all his might to flex is neck muscles. let's see, but realistically people don't have that much strength to crush trachea when the one who's being choked is fully flexing his neck muscle

For anyone interested, when Snake mentions how he was a warrior of Miklagard, this refers to Constantinople/Istanbul which was the capital of the Byzantine Empire (Otherwise known as the Eastern Roman Empire). So it's hinted that Snake served as a member of the Varangian Guard which was mainly made up of vikings/norseman. That's why he has a Middle Eastern sword!

lil late to this reaction but only just became a member here, saw that yall posted a vid today saying you reacted to this show about a year ago and HAD to find this episodes reaction! One of the best episodes of anime right here and its for SIDE CHARACTERS like they did everyone so dirty with this but its so good and beautiful and amazing and i love seeing the reactions it brings people.
