Spinning Red Chair

The moment that Eren kissed Historias hand is the moment he saw his future and what was awaiting him. The future was already set in stone, because Eren in the future willed it so.

Julio Magdaleno

After watching episode 21 I remember telling myself that Attack on Titan is the greatest story ever told.

Tony Wallace

damn a triple i saw 1 hour and i thought you guys were gonna have a long ass breakdown of the one episode

Trip85th

We are finallllly herrrrreee

Spinning Red Chair

Theres a real world phenomenon known as Stockholm Syndrome. Its a broken mental state that arises from extreme trauma. In real life, it manifests itself in kidnapping victims and hostages, where they feel a deep psychological bond with their captors as a coping mechanism. Its likely Ymir was experiencing this, especially having been through so much trauma so early on in life. When she first turned into a Titan, she was only ten. When she had her first child, its likely she was only 12 or 13.

Anonymous

Cool little detail about episode 20: Whenever Grisha can "see" Zeke, Eren is actually positioned behind both of them looking at them, so Grisha isnt actually "seeing" Zeke, rather he can see Eren's memories of seeing both of them. Its the same with when Eren talked to Grisha. Eren can actually control what memories get sent to Grisha and what don't, thats why Grisha asks why Eren won't show if Carla and Mikasa were safe, because Eren chose not to as leverage for Grisha to do what he wanted. So finally, when Eren was talking to Grisha, he was simply sending memories to the past of him speaking. Its really interesting once you start understanding the whole "memories of the future" thing

Spinning Red Chair

My favorite part about episode 21 is the music. It doesnt sound like the good guys just won, it sounds like the bad guys are just getting started. and imagine Gabi's view. The events of the last 3 episodes take place over a few seconds in the real world. She takes aim, blasts Eren's head off and before she can even shake off the recoil the sky is red and the walls are crumbling.

Fredrick Teague

welcome to AOT ....STILL RIDING WITH EREN LOWKEY.....

Spinning Red Chair

If you think about it, Eren's goal never changed. "Kill them all" The only thing that changed was the target.

Edward Johnson

Okay so they kinda got it but didn’t understand the logistics on how it’s possible.

Julio Magdaleno

Eren was always there. He didn’t change the past. He was always there.

Zeno

Finally, the show begins. And the main antagonist enters the show

TATAKAE - FIGHT If you win, you live. If you lose, you die. If you don’t fight, you can’t win. ~Eren Yeager

Franz

Cool Observation from another YouTuber: In the Royal Family slaughtering scene, Grisha's left hand holding a knife is very important. Grisha is actually right-handed. If you watch other episodes with Grisha again, you can see that he is right-handed. Grisha is the one who started all of this, and the beginning of it is Grisha dragging Fay by his "right hand"out of the internment zone, ultimately leading to her brutal death. Eren reminded Grisha of Fay's death and promoted his vengeance. Because of that vengeance, Grisha is forced to kill the children. Grisha held the knife with his left hand stabbing his right to punish it for putting him in this situation.

komuro

yeah its 100% eren lol, not ymir

Wild Argüelles

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to peak anime.

Kenny Ace

Tbf Gabi, as well as everyone else, is under the assumption that if eren and zeke come in contact with each other it would literally be the end of their race, I mean if I was her I'd shoot him too

komuro

eren doesnt wanna kill everyon on the planet with the rumbling lol.. its like everyone except paradis island hhhh... love the trio reaction was crazy man

Josh Stewart

Its so funny when people are relieved that Eren isnt going to take away their ability to reproduce. Homies just gonna fuck up the whole world. Im sure thatll work out right?

Anonymous

yeah you were right, that Eren is the one choosing to kill every last life beyond the island. Just like he told Zeke during the Memories of the Future episode, if someone attempts to take his freedom, he will steal theirs first. So in Eren’s ideology, he just wants to get rid of everyone so that the Eldians can live peacefully with no enemies. Of course, that is so wrong and messed up because there are so many innocent lives out there that dont even know the conflict of Marley and Elidia, people that dont know Titans exist, innocent kids, etc.

Hisaki

For better understanding: The Attack Titan can see glimpses of the future of its successor. So what Grisha actually saw as glimpses of the future was the NOW from Erens POV. As Owl could see the POV from Grisha/Eren, when he met Mikasa and Armin. In Ep 20 when Eren was in the past memories, Grisha was sometimes talking while facing Eren. He wasn't actually seeing Eren there, but his own images from Eren's POV, while saying the things that Eren heard there. The same thing happened when Grisha could see Zeke as an adult. When you watch the episode again you'll see Eren standing behind Grisha, so Grisha was seeing (from Erens POV) his own back and Zeke standing before him. And at the Reiss, Eren spoke the words to stimulate Grisha, but since Grisha could only see from the Eyes of Eren, who must have seen himself on the floor with the words circling around and then saw that it was inevitable to murder the Reiss.

Stephen Cruz

Yo Siri is just the 3rd reactor in these videos. lmao

The founder Ymir went back to Fritz after becoming a titan because being a slave is all she’s known. She sees no purpose in her existence besides serving others. So once she obtained an ability that could be so useful, she felt she might finally be needed. She could be a useful slave. So she went back, because that’s all she’d known

Lalisa Truong

The original King Fritz actually did not know right away that it was the spinal fluid that was needed. When he first made his daughters eat Ymir, notice that he made them eat all of her. I think it was later at some point that he figured out it was just the spinal fluid that was needed, and not the entire body... disgusting still. He was horrible... And I guess to answer why Ymir still sacrificed herself for Fritz. It's simple. It's because she is a slave and that is all she knows, especially when she became a slave at a very young age (kids are really impressionable afterall). It's hard to break from that kind of mentality. The only reason she died in the end was because like Reiner, she finally lost the will to live. Fritz was right that there was no way she'd die from a simple spear like that so for her to die so easily like that should say a lot. I remember seeing someone say how when Reiner wasn't regenerating himself because he lost the will to live, it was basically the shifter equivalent of trying to commit suicide. I think that's what happened here with Ymir. She keeps sacrificing herself for Fritz, for everyone until she finally just gave up and died...but even in death, she still is a slave because again, that is all she knows. Eren so far, is the only one to ever give her a choice.

Lalisa Truong

I'd be traumatized to ever try and kill Eren ever again honestly lol. She basically started the end of the world 😂

dustrr

Agreed, team Eren for sure. If i found out my (and my peoples) whole life has been a living hell because of people I didn't know existed I'd be pissed enough to wipe them out too. It was bound to happen at some point you cant just ostracize an entire race for centuries then be surprised when they finally bite back harder

Anonymous

He is more like an anti-hero. Dont know if you guys have seen code geass but he reminded me alot of lelouch because he is neither good nor bad

Harper

Colt is the best brother ;----------;; RIP the MP, Crazy Falco now turns into the Jaw and will only live for 13 more years :/ Gabi with the FaZe clan 360 no scope on Eren sheeeesh. Eren is a savage for knowing the future and the past and able to basically manipulate the past. I feel so bad for Ymir and being a slave so much so she obeyed him wen she is stronger than Fritz. she is mindlessly following them and the spine thing was just the practice that the King started as that was the origin story so we are supposed to take it as thats how it is, it couldve been anything but King Fritz was clearly deranged... and love the call back to episode 1 with Eren, the memories, the tree and the title of the episodes. Glad Michelle was smart and knew that Grisha was seeing Eren and Zeke in those memories, crazy to think Grisha was talking to future ghost Eren in Episode 1... there is a ton of foreshadowing and hints like this in the show the rewatch is amazing. Also intro reaction time! its a BANGER. EREN IS THE GOAT

Liraaa

I don’t use to comment here but seeing Michelle kinda lost and ron nailing it on the thoughts / explanation after the episode it’s so rare and so funny 😂😂

Abigail Jerry

All I can say…. AMAZING. AOT will never cease to amaze, no matter how many times I watch the series.

One

Imagine how Gabi feels lol she shot Eren's head off and a second later the walls start coming down

Charlie Day

I mean his intentions are there but he legit made Falco kill him. Imagine living with the trauma that you fried your brother to death

JC Hernandez

Make the sky turn red, Eren Yeager

Trinature

I love everyone got "brainwashed" into thinking that Eren is the good guy. There is no way in hell u can justify killing millions of innocent people who have never done anything wrong in their life. Eren is and always has been a Psychopath who has a twisted view on freedom. He was able to kill 2 men at the age of 10ish. Thats not normal even as self defense or saving someone. If u are able to kill someone at that age there is something wrong with u. Like Reiner said: Eren should be the last person on this planet who should have the power of the founding titan and now we know why....

Jesus Morales

Let's get a reaction to the opening now! It's legit the best one they have for the show

Lalisa Truong

To be fair to Colt, becoming a mindless titan is essentially a death sentence so probably in his eyes, it was best to die together. Too bad he didn't take into account that the others, like Reiner, would willingly let Falco eat them just to save him.

JburkLoL

Thank you so much for doing 3 at a time, it's so nice to binge and these episodes were crazy!

Hisaki

btw I think now you can watch the OP ;)

Zongo

just to explain the hug if you're confused he is basically looking from eren's perspective always glimpes ( behind zeke ) if i remember well so he is hugging the air but he knows zeke is there.

Oron Bar

Not just Grisha, every single attack titan user was led by their future memories, stuff that Eren showed them.

MacarooniR0b

King Fritz had Maria, Rose, and Sina eat all of Ymir, because at the time they had no idea how to pass on the power. I imagine that he was able to figure out it was the spine that did it once they ate that part. At that point, Ymir's titan split into 3. Then, it's inferred that the power split again to result in the 9 titans.

Josh Stewart

Yeah, the meaning is lost on a lot of people. 1) people who defend Eren literally only have the argument of "Yeah well they started it!." But also, people who think Eldia will just be "Fine" if Eren commits global genocide is insane. We cant even all agree in a comment section, yet they think somehow everyone on the island will get along. This is LITERALLY what the great titan war was about. Once they ran out of enemies, they just started fighting each other...

waleed

Grisha was seeing Zeke through Eren's Eyes, and when he was taking to young Eren and telling him that he is gonna show him the basement and at the same moment he looked shocked, it is because he was watching him self through Eren's Eyes, so he new that Eren was there watching him. if you got my point just like my comment (^_^).

vee

this show blows my mind with each episode - like the smallest of details mean so much!!

Tony Wallace

3% of the ocean i think

Faith Kim

Hey guys thanks for the amazing trio and it’s really great to see other people enjoy this MASTERPIECE. Anyways, I’m gonna explain and breakdown the three episodes because believe me most, if not all, of us did not understand from the first time, and some are still confused. This explanation is based on my personal and other online analyzers so credit to them. I hope u guys read it.

Faith Kim

THIS IS GONNA BE PRETTY LONG ⚠️ Episode 19: the episode is called “two brothers” and I think it’s amazing because it represents (Zeke & Eren), (Falco & Colt) and (Porco & Marcel). When Riner touched Proco, their memories kinda intertwined that’s why Porco was finally able to witness what truly happened with his brother and said those final words to Riner (he was cool imo). As for Zeke’s scream, it funny how most of the viewers neglect the fact that Eren was the first one who intended to try to stop Zeke from screaming because he CARED about his people (some say the opposite) and you can see that clearly when he tried to reach his hand ✋🏻 and said “wait”. I’m not sure what was his plan if Colt hasn’t stepped in but it is a gesture that shows a lot about Eren. As for the scene where Gabi shot Eren, sadly she did blow his head off, but what amazes me is the way they showed that time has stopped entirely in the real world while Zeke and Eren went into the paths. As you can see, Eren’s body did not even fall and hit the ground even the blood from his head and body didn’t shatter all over the place yet, and Armin and Mikasa are stuck in the air as if everything freezed it’s the milli-seconds his head flew off and landed on Zeke’s hand they instantly moved to the paths. In the paths, time works differently in which a second in the real world could equal to hundreds of years in the paths, that’s why Zeke looks older and said he waited for so long. In this massive scene, we can see the Founding Ymir who’s a slave to anyone with royal blood, that’s why Zeke was able to command her to break king Karl’s curse and wipe his ideologies from the founders one and for all without even obtaining the founder itself since it’s within Eren and can command her to go with his plan, but he couldn’t reach the path without Eren.

Faith Kim

Episode 20: so in the last episode Zeke gained control of the founder Ymir power (since he’s royal) over every single Eldian on the planet. With this potential he could finally complete his euthanization plan and sterilize all subjects of Ymir, however being the amazing brother that he is he only wanted to do this with Eren by his side. In his mind he sees the reason Eren betrayed him is because he was brainwashed by Grisha to become an Eldian restorationist which is of course what happened to Zeke himself when he was growing up for that reason he uses the power of the founder to take them into Grisha’s memories so he can make Eren realize that he’s been manipulated by the father.

Jahmilla

ep. 20 is one of my favorites, the facial expressions on Eren are crazy I hope y’all watch the op & ending soon —any imagined “spoilers” should be fine now

Faith Kim

There are rules for traveling through memories, the first one is knowing that the two brothers are NOT actually traveling into the past but rather this is more like a simulation created by the founding titan. In this simulation they can witness key moments from Grisha’s life but no one can see them back since everyone is basically an NPC. This brings us to rule #2 which is that because all of these memories are just visual representations of things that already took place, it means that Zeke and Eren SHOULD NOT be able to change how anything plays out.

Faith Kim

PLEASE FOCUS HERE: In the scene where Grisha was sleeping on the desk in the basement, he was receiving memories from the future while he was asleep that belonged to *present day Eren* or *the Eren who’s in the memories with Zeke* and as we know, every titan shifter sees the memories of the previous shifter except for the Attack titan which can sometimes see glimpses of memories of its future shifters (just like when Kruger/ the owl saw and knew Mikasa and Armin). In other words, in this scene Grisha (who’s from the past) is able to see memories of Eren (who’s in the present day) and if you notice (it happens quickly but try to go back to the scene and notice), *Present Day Eren* looked down at the picture of Zeke and his parents and *Grisha from the past* immediately reacts and apologizes to Zeke then when *Present Day Eren* looked at his bearded brother which is Zeke, *Grisha who’s from the past* immediately reacted again as he sees a vision of a bearded man who he recognizes as Zeke.

Faith Kim

What this shows is that thanks to his Attack titan, Grisha can occasionally see the future through Eren’s POINT OF VIEW. In other words, he’s seeing all of that through the eyes of Eren and if you notice Eren is always standing behind all of them so Grisha is seeing himself + Zeke, he never once saw his son Eren as a grownup, he commented on Zeke’s appearance but never once mentioned Eren. As they go through the memories, Zeke started to realize that Eren is different from him and he has always fought anyone or anything that threatened his freedom. Why did Zeke continue to go through the memories with Eren then? Because he still believed he could change Eren’s mind the same way Mr. Xavar has saved him and would not continue with his plan until he finds at least one memory that might change his brother’s prospective.

Faith Kim

In the scene in which Grisha was writing down his final touches in his book in the basement, he senses a presence while staring at his key since he’s receiving memories from *Present Day Eren* who’s staring at him at that moment, so Grisha was seeing a vision of himself from his son’s POV. Since Grisha is seeing visions from Eren’s eyes, it explains why he can’t see him but he can SENSE him strongly (just like when he was staring at him multiple times and strongly felt his anger in the chapel). The day Grisha went to the chapel to take the founding, was the same day Eren’s mom was eaten, that’s why you can see Eren getting angrier and angrier as Frida talks about the king’s ideals and basically they should all die, however Grisha here has only seen parts of the memories Eren showed him and never shown him when his wife died.

Faith Kim

But after that he went to young Eren to give him the syringe and that’s when young Eren told him that his mom was eaten. Back to when they were in the chapel, as I said Grisha did not see Eren he reacted and looked towards him because he was receiving memories from the present day Eren who is standing next to him, he was basically seeing himself talking to the royal family + he felt his massive anger meaning Grisha was living that moment from BOTH his own and Eren’s prospective. He seeing the same things Eren was seeing and felt the same emotions Eren was feeling, a connection made possible by the Attack titan’s ability. In the scene where Eren talked to his dad and told him to stand up, that memory of Eren saying that was sent to the paths where his dad received the message ( it happens within seconds so it appears like it’s a live conversation).

dontrell Durant

Yo. How is she so pretty? And she has perfect teeth...... I'm getting Waaaaaaaay off topic. Yes I believe Eren has released Ymir and has taken her spot. Except he's still alive. If I'm wrong don't tell me because I refuse to read the manga.

Faith Kim

It’s funny they showed a scene of when Eren kissed Historia’s hand because during that kiss Eren experienced all of his father’s memories from the chapel INCLUDING the memories that Grisha received from the future. What this means in reality is that four years ago Eren didn’t just see his dad’s memories, but also the memories that was sent to his dad by the FUTURE VERSION OF HIMSELF. So he knew he’s the one that motivated his father to do that + he saw other different future memories that made him have that terrified expression on his face. After Grisha came out of his titan body, he confirmed that he saw memories from the future Eren who’s even in the further future than the Eren who’s in the memories with Zeke which I think he saw the rumbling happening and the scenes it causes, which means that when Eren kissed Historia’s hand, he saw what became of the rumbling.

Faith Kim

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but Grisha was able to hug Zeke at the end was because Eren was staring at his brother so Grisha is seeing everything thru Eren’s eyes, so he goes to hug him since he knows where Zeke is standing in relation to himself, and in the past dimension this seems to result in contact, but imo I think that if anyone in the past passes by Grisha, he would see him hugging air. Of course all of this was possible because of the Attach titan’s power, so if their dad were to have any other titan shifter then he wouldn’t be able to see the future thru Eren’s eyes.

Prateek Sridhar

For comparison, the size of the colossal titan is 60m, Founder Ymir in titan form is 170m, and Eren in founding titan form is 350m.

Logan

Im still team eren all the way. Even after making his point and using the rumbling as a threat the fighting isnt stopping and it wouldnt stop. Marley still wants to fight and gain control of the founders power. I still am with eren to a point. Never will I agree with Marley or anyone else. Just my opinion though.

Josh Stewart

Not to mention, Paradis will still fight with each other even with the world gone. Its some threats removed sure, but there will still be a large population who disagree with Eren, so they will just fight each other.

Josh Stewart

But what would happen after? Eren would go back to the island and they would all be happy with him and what hes done? at the very least, not everyone will agree. This will lead to them fighting each other. Eventually ideologies on the island will split, #TITAN WAR TAKE 2!

Jyn Gerayl

This is just my conjecture, but if you remember the map of the world and Paradis island, Paradis and the main continent are not separated by much distance, probably just a straight which (compared to the size of the colossal titans) wouldn't be that deep, so it's not like they'll have to cross the Mariana Trench or anything

Josh Stewart

Hey! That's the same logic Marley used when THEY first fought Eldia too!

Piranhaconda

Fun fact: That spine looking thing in the real world most likely is the Hallucigenia. A worm looking thing without a head and spikes on its back which, according to old chinese founds, is as old as 522 million years.

André Carvalho

Ron, every will kill the entire world, apart from Paradis Island people. The. Entire. World. We cannot been on Team Eren at that point. And that's sad! <3 But you are right: it is Eren's doing, not Ymir's. Eren received the power and is doing the frickin' Rumbling.

Piranhaconda

Btw now you know the full picture of Erens reaction to Sashas death. It was the same as with Hannes. He ironically has all the power in the world and still couldnt do anything against it. Which would explain his desperate laugh followed by pure anger.

Charles Cow

Ymir cares about everyone else. She always put everyone elses well being over her own as they showed. This is 100% Eren, Remember on the beach when he pointed across the ocean and said that he'd have to kill everyone to be free. So I'd say Eren is the true antagonist (Villain) in the story because he wants to wipe out the entire world except those on Paradise Island

LJ

After watching these episodes like 25 times, I've noticed so many details. The biggest 2 is the similarities between Eren and the OG King as well as the old Eldia. Eren's hair and the regular soldiers of the old eldian tribe are pretty similar and Eren and the OG king both end us using Ymir's power to subjugate the world. The 2nd and more concrete detail is the orientation of the roots of the tree Ymir falls into. If the look closely, the orientation of the roots when Ymir goes into the tree and right before she falls down are exactly the same. I'm pretty sure Ymir walks into the tree, touches something or dies, gets transferred to the "Coordinate Plane" and doesn't realize it. She then probably thinks its night time cuz its darker and assumes the coast is clear. Except now there's a lake that wasn't there before, which is why she trips falls finally coming in contact with the Thing. Next she back in the real world where no time has passed and now she's a titan.

Faith Kim

He’s not a villain nor a hero, yes what he’s doing is wrong, but that’s the only solution in his hands

Betty H

I really love that Ron pointed out after Episode 20 that Dr. Jaeger could have been speaking to either Erens (Kruger or Jaeger) in his hysteria. I really forgot about that.

nassra

i mean there is no enemy in this show

Rimuru Tempest

Honestly never liked eren after season 1. A good character, but his personality is way too extreme.

Jose

As I said before, it is based on Norse mythology. the way odin offered his eye to the giant mimir in exchange for power and wisdom, in the tree of life

Jose

AND levi es death for sure 🙁😐

ChrisBrah-4

You guys should watch the episode breakdown for ep 20 from turtle quirk on youtube, jm pretty sure almost everyone did after watching ep 20, especially if u have ANYTHING youre unsure about in that brain boggling episode

Issak Cardenas

You know that parasite thing is real. It’s called the Hallucigenia.

Nick is Rad

Let's goooooo!

Charles Cow

I'd say murdering everyone in the world is an evil act. Even if its the only solution for him.

Faith Kim

So is murdering one’s family, friends, and homeland and declaring war at them while knowing they have no clue about anything. No one is right but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a point

Maks Lesniewski

You should follow the side you feel the least bad following.

NissanZaxima

So as you can see now, the history that the Marleyans taught that a lot of people who have watched this show thought was just fabricated propoganda was actually true. That's my favorite bombshell of this episode. It doesn't justify what Marley is doing whatsoever but it helps to put it into context so much better. It really adds another layer to the whole story in that everything just comes down to perspective. You can understand everyone's decisions/actions.

Anonymous

look at the title of episode 1 and episode 80. PLEASEE

Miranda

What I hate about the translation is sometimes it doesn't translate brother, like when Zeke screams, Colt was saying 兄さん(brother) will protect you, that line makes me cry.

Sid V

Its not about who is in the right, its about who is your favourite war criminal >:)

Hertog

Team Eren baby!

TEMPEST

Basically what eren is doing is ending the cycle of hate towards the Eldians if he lets people from other countries live eventually they’ll come up with a plan and attack the eldians because the whole world hates eldians but if no one else but eldians are alive then no other country will ever attack them again letting eldians finally be truly free that's what l interpret eren is trying to do

TEMPEST

Its most threats removed and actually a majority of the paradis population where okay with this but yeah their would conflict cause their always is you can't run from it

Josh Stewart

Granted its for a different reason, but i find it interesting that Eren is basically doing what king fritz did. Wiping out most cultures...etc. So in a way its already happened, we are just watching it happen again...which leads you to believe it will happen...yet again....thus the cycle continues. Its how the great titan war began the first time. They ran out of enemies, so they used their titans to fight each other.

Aaron Kinnard

Please stop skipping the intro! :0 it's such a good song and you guys could watch it by now!

Normadus

they are going to watch it sooner or later either way ...

Raul Sauceda

Title of episode 1: "To you, 2000 years from now"

Rahyuu

The true villain finally unveiled lol

TEMPEST

Eren is not doing the same as king Fritz because all king Fritz was doing was taking over countries what eren is trying todo is completely wipe everyone out so that no other race can ever attack eldians ever again thus the cycle of hatred would end because their is no other race that will hate eldians

Cesar

Yeah please notice the episode 1 name and the last episodes name 👌🏼 sheesh 😶‍🌫️😵🤯 mind boggling

TEMPEST

I replied to your comment but accidentally forgot to hit the reply button

Ilayda Koca

“Who is the enemy?” A legendary man named Erwin Smith once asked this to Eren in the first season, the Eren who is about to destroy the entire world except Paradise right now. The irony is unbelievable.

TEMPEST

It would end the hate from other countries towards eldians because those countries wouldn't exist anymore

Aaron Kinnard

Have they said? Cause they are so worried about spoilers I highly doubt they will.

Ideophagous

Great reaction! By the way, you can start watching the intro from episode 23 (or after you finish 22).

Josh Stewart

but that just localizes the problem. plus what about in another century when they have populated so much that they had to spread out to the rest of the world, separated by oceans, ideologies change. new laws in these new lands. War will break out again.

TEMPEST

Yes king Fritz attacked other countries hence the people of said country hate eldians but if those people were gone then their would be no hate from said people

Ygjez

This is where the true villain has appeared

Josh Stewart

So you are saying Fritz should have instead destroyed the world there and then, ending "hatred" 2000 years go?

Ilayda Koca

Team Eren: Destroy the entire world except Paradis as the entire world wants to destroy Paradis and wipe the Eldians out. Team Zeke: Euthanize all the Eldians to get rid of them as they are considered "devils" and a threat by the entire world. Team Marley (which can be considered as “Team entire world” after the declaration of war): Exterminate the Eldians in Paradis as they are the "devils". To sum up: The entire world is fucked up!

TEMPEST

Yes you are right what I'm trying to get at is conflict will always be their because hate is inevitable and even if he does wipe the rest of the world eldians will end up hating each other for some reason so technically they will never have true freedom

TEMPEST

No what I'm saying is king Fritz was a greedy f*** and because of his actions now all eldians have to suffer and even if eren commits mass genocide they will never be truly free because hate always finds a way and conflict is inevitable.

KT Vokenn

Eren was there the whole time. You'll see him in an episode or 2 early on

Ilayda Koca

⚠️SPOILER⚠️ Team Armin: Stop Eren, so the entire world doesn’t get wiped out but still stay fucked up, since people never learn from their mistakes.

EZ-3k!3!

so instead of getting brainwashed by his father, Eren brainwashed his father lolll. The great director Eren.

ChrisBrah-4

It can be a double entendre, but i believe its more likely he is talking to his son since its not like hes going to say “eren JAEGER” and since he later asks “why wont you show me everything?…. The day the wall fell….. if carla is safe” So its clearly eren jaeger. Plus the fact it was right after eren (jaeger) gave him instructions on killing the reiss family

ChrisBrah-4

I think he was laughing at Sasha as he reminisces Sasha’s nature of loving food no matter what and then as he comes to grips with her death when you see him “angry” its him realising that theres no going back from his plan he had all along.

ChrisBrah-4

No other anime/show has such a high scale and can still maintain good quality details at the same time

Anonymous

no longer spoilers: grisha's able to see zeke because he's experiencing the same moment from Eren's pov. You can even see Eren standing behind them both. It's the same in every event where you can see the hints where Grisha's acknowledging them. Eren's giving his father a full pov view of zeke.

u guys missed the episode name for 21 "from you 2000 years ago" and episode 1 was "to you 2000 years from now"... feels bro

I don't if you know what Stockholm syndrome but it's when you fall in love with your captor, it's a coping mechanism. If you're wondering why for Ymir.

Josh Stewart

Yeah...Lets put a maniac on the throne! and all the characters that we have met on the show and the island will live happily ever after...

bluemilk

my guess was the whale and dinosaur and all those other animals in the intro were different generations of beast titans, but i could be wrong

KT Vokenn

The opening with the animals had more to do with Zeke's power itself

Dylan

god damn! I have been waiting for these episodes! Been with you guys since the beginning of this journey

Mojira

The crazy thing about season 1 is the amount of foreshadowing. It's not even just this one but talk with Pyxis, Armin, Dream, flashback and etc. All help foreshadow what is happening

Ty Keepit100

I will wipe every last one of them... off from the face of this earth!

Normadus

exactly , it's anime so I dont care about anyone outside of the island , he can eradicate all of them :) They wanted war, so he gave them the war At least anime will end with a bang

iu

the dinosaur thing does mean something. the beast titan takes the form of different animals depending on the person

Normadus

Beast titan can take form of different animals, Zeke's personality led the titan to take form of a monkey. It depends on the user, so the previous holders of the beast titan could turn into different animals. For example the dinosaur. Just imagine Zeke being able to transform into a massive bird lol :D it would be game over for Eldia

MonarchXIII

I know what Eren is doing is terrible but I'm still team Eren. I ain't switching up now

iu

i don't think people believe he is the good guy. Rather, they understand him. He is not willing to let the world continue to oppress Eldia and he is not willing to have the royal family continue to sacrifice children to continue having the founding titan power. The only solution then is to destroy the entire world. What would you do in his position? If you go with Zeke's plan, people lose their ability to have children which is a basic human right. If you do nothing, Eldians continue to be oppressed. If you use the rumbling as a threat, then the royal family has to continue to sacrifice their children until the end of time. There is no good solution here so attacking Eren like he's completely insane is not justified IMO. Also, while killing 2 men at the age of 10 isn't normal, it was not morally wrong by any stretch of the imagination because it was self-defense. You can view it as "something wrong" with him but you can also view it as necessary. If you had been in that position, a child would've been sold off into slavery and 3 evil men would continue to traffick human beings. As for the point about people thinking "everyone on thje island will get along", I don't think is relevant. It doesn't matter if everyone on the island will get along or not. What eren is trying to do is to protect the island from outside forces. When a country goes to war, they don't say "oh this is pointless, people back home are just gonna fight anyway". So I'm not really sure what you're getting at there.

Anonymous

There is not one clear enemy or hero. The Marleyans would simply use that power to take over the world. Zeke’s plan would mean the elimination of all Eldians within 50-100 years. If they simply flex a small Rumbling, what’s to stop the world to still try to join efforts and fight the Eldians (like the mentioned a few times, that would stop the world for only 50 or so years before their technology catches up). Eren points out that the whole world wants the Eldians gone, no matter how well they behave or adopt their ideologies (look at Marley as an example). Although it’s mass genocide of anyone who is not Eldian, it would be the other way around if Eren didn’t do this. No true heros, no true villains. Just the world simply being at odds with each other and not allowing for understanding. You’ll see in later episodes what pushed Eren to do this. #rumbling

Jnotes

wtf...didn't know this...what episode explains this?

Josh Stewart

I honestly dont understand how people think it could end like that. I guess for that ending to happen, Armin, Mikasa, Reiner, Jean, Connie, Levi. i'm sure they will be cool with it right? Historia will go "Oh yeah that makes sense" and go along with it? like that makes sense to you? and they will just follow him

Anonymous

I think now that they watched up to this point, the intro and ending can be watched. I didn’t think it was a big deal watching for myself when the episodes first aired, but I respect them not watching it cause I’m sure there was more left to the imagination of what would happen

Anonymous

Eren: I will kill every living being outside Paradis Rice: Is he- baaad??

iu

sorry but u don't get the point of the show if you think Eren is the villain.

iu

Eren isn't the same as Fritz because Eren is acting in self-defense while Fritz was not. There is a solution that no one talks about. How about the rest of the world just leaves Eldians alone? But they won't because they're messed up in the head. They oppress Eldians then they play victim when Eren does to them what they were going to do to Eldia. The rest of the world (mainly Marley) did it to themselves, sorry not sorry.

iu

lmao ur that same guy who thinks Marley is justified in their treatment of Eldians. I remember ur comment from a different video LOL

Jag_227

It's so crazy to see Eren and Zeke just walking through memories like that. It's understandable to me why Yelena was so obsessed with these two. They really are like gods right now. That's the power of the Founding Titan - existing unbound by time.

Fola Omotola

Faze Gabi! Memories of the Future?! The Rumbling!! What a craxy set of episodes! Awesome reaction, this was hella entertaining!! Y'all are killing it!

Jag_227

It's such a brilliant aspect to Zeke's character - that he genuinely cares for his brother so much. But, that's also the thing that he is "drunk" with, as Kenny said.

Anonymous

armin and levi sqaud are the biggest hypocrites and villians in the show

Honey

Adding on to what Ron said about having different types of parasites and creatures in the bottom of the ocean, the "something" that Ymir touched when she was drowning was actually based on a real organism! You guys can search up the photo (you won't see any spoilers like you guys did with searching up Armin's lmao since it'll just show the real thing that exists/existed in our world) It's called Hallucigenia :))

iu

Eren: uses self-defense People like you: eren bad!!1!!1 😠😠

Jag_227

"Your ear's red. That shows that you're lying." Omg 😂❤️It's so crazy to think about older Eren hearing these comments from his past, but understood in his present context.

Anonymous

1- what he's doing is well past self defence 2- I'm team Eren till the end. He's still bad but I've been on his side since season 1, a lil mass murder won't change that

Renzhong Zhu

And sometimes father just translated to he...its not that important, but those details are also good to know more about the charactor build

Josh Stewart

Holy shit, I've never seen someone just chalk it up to self defense. How is killing innocent people self defense?

Jag_227

Throughout being led through these memories by Zeke, it's like Eren is slowly feeding his dad the knowledge of the future through Eren's eyes. These visions almost like a threat saying, "I'm watching you, Dad" until the moment he manipulates him. Crazy. But, at the same time, he's also allowing him to get forgiveness from his first son. Always good/bad aspects to people's actions in this series.

Mango

Useless info here but wanted to mention it anyway —-> there was the scene where all the slaves tongues were cut so they couldn’t speak. So when Ymir was blamed for the pig running away she couldn’t even defend herself because she couldn’t talk.

You can watch the intro now!

Josh Stewart

I legit don't understand this take. How is murdering innocent people who did nothing self defense. The sheer amount of people in the world who don't care, are totally fine with eldians, sympathisers etc. How is that not bad?

iu

just cuz u can't understand the nuance doesn't mean other people won't XD

Princely T

Ron's last point at the end of episode 21 about who is in control is completely right. Ymir gave Eren full access to the founder since he freed her from her slavery of being beholden to those of royal blood. Starting the full scale rumbling to kill everyone is Eren's choice

Cubjitsu

Episode 20 pushed me to read the manga 😂 I couldn't wait weeks to figure out what was going on

Jag_227

Historia's character is so interesting as a comparison to Ymir. Like she was brainwashed to accept the same definition of "ladylike" that Ymir was subject to. "Being kind" to everyone was something both Ymir and Historia naively tried to act out. But, so often that just meant being a slave to other's interests.

BritishVegeta

I don't think the timeline changed, but Eren was mentally there to remind his dad what to do because of the Path connection

NakoaX

the royal family has been ordering her around for 2000 years. and for the first time. someone else has ASKED her for her power. she was never given a choice till now. till eren. genocide is bad but from erens perspective the world wants to genocide the eldens and him. from his birth its always been the island vs the world. plus logically if you think about it. if someone kills your mom or dad youd want revenge right? this just means erens gotta end that cycle. team eren also now you can watch the intro.. i think? have your editor check if the spoilers are done

Jason McCaslin

I think they deduced it was the spine/spinal fluid that triggers Titan powers. Even Fritz would have ran tests based on what they ate to try to trigger it,

Logan

I never said they would be happy with what hes done, but at least the nation the nonstop threatened to kill you and your people would be gone. Prison time would be the least of my concern in that situation. Plus everybody is already split up amungst the eldians, thats how the jaegerists exist.

Thank you guys! Awesome 3 part episodes, love your reactions.

Jason

So, the reason why Grisha was looking so shocked and frieghtened is because (thanks to the attack titan's power) Grisha could see Eren's future memories. Notice how in every memory that Zeke and Eren are going through, Eren is standing in certain positions and spots. Grisha received certain memories that Eren wanted to share with him, THROUGH Eren's perspective. Hence why Grisha could see Zeke, because Eren was looking at both Grisha and Zeke. Grisha never saw Eren, but because of the memories being through Eren's perspective Grisha knew where Eren was at. All of those things played out thanks to Zeke's contribution of taking Eren through Grisha's memories

matt

Even though zeke was evil, from a human standpoint, humans will want him to succeed.

Reggie Azem

Siding with Eren's plan is literally volunteering your death. His plan is ONLY to save his people, specifically Paradis Eldian; to everyone else, nothing more than collateral damage.

Shalin A

Some people did the math on the fact that it took Ymir ~1-2 years (Zeke said he waited that long) to rebuild Eren, then scaled Eren's attack titan's size up to account for other sized titans. When you multiply it all out (considering we've been told there are over 1million colossal titans in the walls + she presumably builds the 9 titans from scratch every time a Warrior turns) this person's math came out to Ymir has been hand building titans for ~50Million effective years give or take a bit. Crazy to even try to fathom that's how long she's been a slave...... and Eren freed her.

TEMPEST

Exactly thats what I’m saying eren and king fritz are not the same king fritz is a greedy f*** while eren just wants to be free but the rest of the world won’t let him have that because of king Fritz’s decisions

Rena2509

Wow Ron is correct this time..

Ron finally got one right! Lol and yes the season 2 intro with the dinosaurs meant nothing.. ;)

Manny

Also, the intro will be good to watch after the next episode 👍

Mike

I dont get it. The rumbling has begun, and they're just showing all the 9 titans, not especially "her" at the intro. Thats not a spoiler.

Anonymous

What's crazy to me is that this has been foreshadowed since a LOT earlier. If you rewatch the 3rd ending (season 2), there's a lot of details that we only learn by episode 80, like Ymir's daughters eating her. Also, y'all should watch the opening now, there's no longer any spoilers and it's the best opening out of them all!

Art of Trolling

I can't' support killing the entire world. I agree with Ron just flex the rumbling, you don't need to kill everyone.

Benny

Damn Ron you pretty much hit the nail on the head when talking about Ymir and Eren and how he was the only person to ever make her see herself as something other than a slave! Great reaction guys; been loving the journey!

ABC

There are no timelines or "alternate universes". Its just one singular timeline where future eren influences Grisha to steal the founder. Everything was always meant to happen, because it already happened in the future. The interesting thing is that Eren always talks about freedom, but he technically has no "free will" since everything was decided even before he was born. The founder Ymir has waited 2000 years for Eren to come save her, which is why she saved Zeke in the earlier episode (if Zeke died, then Eren wouldn't be able to reach her).

ABC

Well, imagine you were Marleyan and your people were brutally killed and suffered due to Eldian titans for "centuries". Couldn't you also be team Marley and want to wipe out all titans? Also, Eren is trying to kill the entire world and not even just the Marleyans.

Jake estes

They were right when they first fought Eldia. But after 100 years and no eldian knew Marley existed then they attacked to steal resources and military power it was greed that led them there so now they gotta go

Jake estes

It’s not about who started it the eldians have no memories. Of before and we’re chillin for 100 years with no threat to Marley then greed led them here to attack and piss off the wrong guy and now they plan to kill everyone eren knows so he’s doing it first it’s the only option that protects the people of paradis no matter how terrible it is

Galaxy Shogun

Zeke's plan was far more ethical. Armin is the furthest thing some smart how did the genius not see this coming...Armin and Mikasa have blood on their hands. This option is infinite more deadly the eldians from paradise are all nuts.

ra-TH_

I might be an asshole, buttttt.. if I been through the ish eren has where people are constantly coming after you trying to kill you and everyone you care about && they obviously won't stop.. do you eren, do you lol

swindlehadyn

To put it bluntly, Eren is committing Genocide. And of course, no one supports that, however, think about it from his eyes, after all, you have been for 4 seasons. The entire world wants him dead, peace clearly isn't an option since the "vow renouncing war" would have just ended with their "judgement" or, deaths. So did he really have any other choice? That's up for debate, and while Zeke's plan may be that "other choice" it's still not fair to wipe an entire race off of the earth (Neither is Genocide). Its a lose-lose for everyone. Clearly Zeke's plan is miles more peaceful, but Eren's a fighter, and will fight for his right to be Free, otherwise, would he be free at all? I can't think of one person that would be okay with their entire race disappearing, all because the world wanted them dead for things their ancestors did. All that ^ is what makes AOT so tragic to me, there isn't one side that deserves to win, nor lose; simply talking it through would have saved the world presumably.

Rengoku_Goat

bro its not just that. All the world leaders announced an attack to wipe out all eldians. So eren is actually not in the wrong here. The whole world wants his people dead

erique

FAZE GABBY DONT MISS SHIT!!

LandMarkMetal

I can't agree with Eren's plan. I find it purely childish and motivated by self interest. I also understand that the entire world will never stop being afraid of Eldians, which is why I resonate more with Zeke's plan. No need to murder anyone. Although it may be difficult for the final generation of Eldians as they won't have any kids to help look after them during old age, I find it a more reasonable approach to ending a stained bloodline which nobody asked for and was misused by corrupt leaders.

Henry Gutierrez

PLease react to the opening nowww

Jesse h

Loved your alls reaction!

Crusher

Im sure this has been retierated already but yah Eren wants to kill every soul on the planet thats not Paradis. Which means he will also kill any Eldians too on other countries. Its only the ppl living in Paradis that wont be hurt

CherryTart

These are the episodes that when I watched they broke my brain and cemented AoT as one of my favorite animes

CherryTart

Thank you 😭 even though it’s fictional I can’t believe people would side with mass genocide. It doesn’t matter what you went through, you’re killing a lot of people that had no choice in which side they’re on.

CherryTart

It’s not the whole world, it’s the military. You can’t just wipe out an entire population of human beings because half that population believes you’re evil. Not everyone believes that Eldians are spawns of the devil and you’re only making that true when you decide to commit mass genocide. The guards at Liberios gates tried to protect Gabi and were always nice to the warrior candidates, treating them like people. There are nice marleyans. Also once everyone else is dead you’re just gonna have the jaegarists vs the non-jaegarists, so the killing and violence is just going to continue even if you get rid of everyone else. It doesn’t actually solve any problems besides eren getting revenge and being childish

shouvik das

RON!!!! You’ve been pretty much bang on with everything you’ve been saying. You interpreted these episodes very well on your first watch, whereas a lot of other people including myself have had to watch a couple more times to really understand everything that was going on. Impressive!!! Hahah

LandMarkMetal

And I think people just want to side with Eren because "omg he's so cool!" or "damn, he had it really tough in the past so its perfectly justified!". There's no absolute solution to the situation they are in. This is a similar situation as the "Trolley Problem". What is the correct answer to the Trolley Problem? Would the only way to save the lives of the five workers on a track is to divert the trolley onto another track that only has one worker on it. Either way there will be consequences which no one deserves. We weigh which solution will yield the least negative consequences. In this case Zeke's solution, although not perfect, will help get rid of a root cause of a lot of the worlds trouble and fear in a manner which will allow the majority of human population to continue to thrive. Rather than a single person feeling a power complex to eradicate the rest of humanity for his own personal benefit.

Ilan Landreau

like first Attack on titan is a show about life and how life survived through time; the story with the parasite is about species that cannot reproduce or multiply and life do everything to survive like using someone's body like ymir and the parasite, and the flowers that appears at the end of ymir's life with blood on it; meaning the cruelty of this world yet the world is beautiful, so in general people are focus on story line and stuff like that '' what is going to happen '' but who cares actually, attack on titan's meaning is for much important than the actual story line, the parasite is something real by the way in our world from long time ago and if you think you watched the peak of attack on titan just wait for part 3 and 4

Logan

Although it sucks that innocent people would die, I completely agree with you man.

CherryTart

The irony that you have a rengoku pfp while saying that, he would be disappointed in you 😔

Gu

It's sad how much self hatred Zeke has that he believes wiping out his race

LandMarkMetal

I find it even more sad to see people comparing self hatred to a logical, though-out response to an incredibly shitty situation. One in which many lose hope and just follow orders and ideologies that are preached to them. Zeke loved his race so much that he wanted to end the suffering that they endured. What, do you really think that the current generation of Eldians have a good, even mediocre life? No. One side is mauled by titans, while the other are oppressed and turned into titans to kill their own kind. A stop must occur at some point. A childish response by Eren thinking the genocide of the entire world is purely up to him. A single person can not dictate the futures of billions of living humans (keep in mind young babies and children stomped to death). Rather, Zeke seeks to not kill, rather, prevent. The choice is SO clear, it's very eye opening to see people siding with the psychopath.

Jon Rose

you guys can now react to the intro and outro, there are no more spoilers now that you've seen episode 21

Jon Rose

the only spoiler to the intro was the rumbling, and now you guys know the rumbling is happening so pleasseeee react to the intro and outro they are so good!

So it's totally fine to genocide everyone on the island but GOD FORBID they do the same to when they figure out the whole world literally banned together to destroy them first. OKAY XD for context, it doesn't matter how many people die. if you're fine with everyone on paradi being slaughtered you should be fine with everyone else being slaughtered too.

Anonymous

he'd wipe their memories and they'd have no memory of anything outside of the island. It would be like starting all over again.

Trinature

He can use and used self defense against Marley but Marley is not the entire planet. Wiping out the entire planet is not self defense anymore

Anonymous

From the wise words of Thano's "As long as there are those who remember what was, there will always be those who cannot accept what can be". Wipe everyone out and start from scratch.

Trinature

U make a lot of great points but i still think wiping out the entire planet is not justified. I think there is literally no "good" solution in this scenario but i now for sure Erens Plan is the one with the most death and killing of innocent people. And i still think Eren has always been a Psychopath or very close to one. Rewatch some of season 1 the first few times Eren turned into a titan. He loved killing the titans and loved the power he had/still has. There are great vids on yt called "Eren being creepy" who show some clips of his behavior. And i love aot for being this complicated with no real "good" solution. The exchange between the aot community is just great if it stays civil

Jose

The attack titan's shifters are influenced by the memories of the future inheritors of the attack titan. The closer the time of inheriting, the stronger the memories of the future inheritor pass through. This is supported by Kruger's (the Owl's) prediction of Armin and Mikasa right before passing down the attack titan. In the end, Grisha was haunted by the revelation of Eren's course of action and the memories of them, which through them he sees Zeke too, whom is with Eren. One more thing, its important to note and understand that the attack titan has a passive power, which is to seek freedom at all costs, this is how it chooses its inheritor, and it stands as a perfect opposite to the founding titan which is the only other titan to choose its inheritor by will of the titan itself. I hope this helps guys!

Cation

The past was never changed, it happened exactly as we saw it. Hence why Eren looked freaked out when he kissed Historias hand. He saw glimpses of what his future self was doing to his father. It was inevitable, same as how none of this would've happened if Zeke didn't bring Eren to the paths. Mind blown.

Josh Stewart

So could you break it down for me? my question is how is killing innocent people not bad?

Josh Stewart

Isnt that the same thought process Marley had when Eldia was wiping them out?

Josh Stewart

So you agree that after Eldia was oppressive to all those other nations for all that time that back then the Marlians did nothing wrong?

Josh Stewart

Its history repeating...If people say Eren did nothing wrong by attacking his peoples oppressor's (The rest of the world) . It means you agree with what Marley did in the first place. ya know...Since Eldia was slaughtering them.

Josh Stewart

And to add to that, saying what Eren is doing isnt bad as its self defense. Is saying what Marley originally did to Eldia was "Not bad" and they were in the right as they were also killed by the old Eldian empire

Josh Stewart

@IU so you are saying, when Eldia was originally oppressing's most other nations, slaughtering all those people. Marley was not Justified in attacking back at their oppressor's?

Frenz Vorstellen

"To You, in 2000 Years - The Fall of Shiganshina: Part 1". And s4 ep 21 title is "From You, 2,000 Years Ago."

iu

@Trinature If eren loved having the power for the sake of being powerful, he wouldn't try to wipe out the globe. when u think of eren's motivations, do u really think he's motivated by power? i don't think so. Also, loving to kill titans doesn't make one a "psychopath".

iu

@Fabian Glynan yep exactly. it seems people just want to be self-righteous and pat themselves on the back

Daniel Hawes

I am a Yeagerist. Not even a slight bit of conflict. Its easy to say you do not support genocide or his plan and how its wrong. But these people are looking at it from an outside perspective. None of this affects you. Instead visualize your life. Your mum, Dad, brother, sister, your children, friends family. Picture them being killed or ended in a horrible way for nothing more than a fear or a political gender. You would want to fight for your survival. You would want to save your friends and family. You wouldn't just roll over and die and allow your children or younger siblings to cease to exist because the world says so. Before realizing Eren had the founding titan. The original plan was to kill everyone within the walls. This is what Annie, Reiner and Bertholdt were sent to do. They only considered another option after seeing Eren was the founding titan. Zeke planned to wipe out the Eldians because he grew up hateful towards Grisha. Eren is just on the other side. He wants his freedom and life. He was born into this world as he always says. And he doesnt want to allow himself or his friends to be taken. As Bertholdt says before he dies and when he found his resolve "You are all my beloved comrades but you still have to die. No one is right or wrong here. The world is just cruel." Yes, Eren is morally wrong. But he is just doing what he has to to stop his friends and loved ones dying. Anyone who acts like they would die, or let their wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend and their young children die and have no future is a goddamn liar 🤣 What you do to survive may be cruel and wrong but as said above there was no choice, people didnt want to do such things but the world is just that cruel.

Zaak Dann

Yup, Eren just has to do, what he has to do. And for those always saying "oh but there's civilians.." well, simple: it's their civilians or our civilians. You choose.

iu

@Josh Stewart Let me break it down for you. Eldia and the rest of the world knows that Eren has the founding titan. They know he has the power to unleash the rumbling. So what do they do? They declare genocide on the Eldians knowing FULL WELL that Eren has the rumbling. What this means is that, and listen to this part very clearly: THEY DID IT TO THEMSELVES, THEY ASKED FOR IT. When the governments of the world declared war, they knowingly risked their citizens' lives. You're so against Eren comitting genocide on everyone else, but you seem to be completely fine with the world comitting genocide on Eldians. So who is more justified? Eren is because the world is the one that is attacking, not Eren. Also, when Marley fought back against Eldia, there is no problem with that. There is a problem though, with continuing to oppress the Eldians after they already won. You seem to be very quick to criticize Eren but u don't seem willing to offer a better alternative. So let me ask you this: what do you think is the solution to all this? I don't think you have one.

Trinature

It does imo. I see titans as animals in our world. And if u look at Eren the first time he turned and see how he "enjoyed" killing those titans (animals) it makes him a psychppath. If u kill birds or cats and such in our world and someone sees u enjoying that, they sure will see u as a psychopath. At least i would see such a human as one. Idk if u read the manga but there is a great vid by invaderzz called "This video will change how you see Eren". Its around 90 mins but its incredibly well done with a lot of information. Maybe give it a watch

Daniel Hawes

Yeah, either watch all the children and families around you die, or kill the other side first which includes their children. Both outcomes are messy and evil. Just comes down to whether you get to live or they do. Eren had the right mentality. Even Bertholdt had the right view in the end.

iu

@Trinature I see what you're saying. But Eren stopped enjoying killing titans at the end of season 3 part 2. We see this when the gang was on their way to the beach and they come across a Titan. When Floch says "should we kill it", Eren says something like "hes a fellow patriot" and then he gets on his horse and they move on. The entire reason he wanted to kill the titans in the first place was because they invaded his city and he watched as they brutally killed his mom. Then when he gains some perspective from his dad's memories, he no longer is motivated to kill all titans.

iu

and also to add on to that, the comparison btwn titans and animals is shaky at best IMO. Animals aren't motivated to eat humans, they're motivated to eat to survive. Titans on the other hand, are only motivated to eat humans. They serve no other purpose and don't have the "innocence" that animals do. Titans also do not benefit the ecosystem and do not interact with nature in any way besides eating humans so killing them is beneficial. If you come across a Titan, you should kill it because 1) there are no downsides and 2) it will try to eat the next human it comes across

Trinature

Yes he stopped bc he saw the future when he kissed historias hand. In that moment he knew there is nothing he can do to change the future bc it is already set in stone. But keep in mind that all of his actions basically shaped the future he saw. He made that future that is now inevitable. Yeah i get that the comparison is not perfect but titans dont choose to eat humans. Well kinda, but they dont activly think (99% at least), they, like a lot of animals, only follow their instincts. And ofc i understand Erens hatred against them but remeber why Erens Mom died (Manga...) And did u ever see Mikasa or Levi acitvly having fun while killing titans? Levi hates titans too but i never saw him smile while he killed them or begged that he wanted to kill more.

iu

@John Stewart you're a moron LOL. Marley was justified in defending themselves from Eldia. They were not however, justified in oppressing Eldians AFTER THEY HAD ALREADY WON THE WAR which is what they're doing right now. try harder please

Tiffany

Loving the reactions as always. K just wanted to give you guys a heads up that ya can see the intro now. Honestly one of the most fires songs in anime.

iu

your entire argument hinges on it being morally wrong to kill titans. please explain why it is morally wrong to kill titans.

Josh Stewart

This has never been an argument over one side being right, i dont think there is a "Good" option. neither one is "Not bad" both are bad. Who said i was for Eldia getting wiped out? im not, why are you so quick to assume MY view? im here for debate. Im not here to have people belittle me and insult me. Thank you for taking what was a debate i was enjoying to resulting to calling me a moron. I hope you get what you are looking for and i hope things in your life go well. But i wont debate with someone like that.

Trinature

When did i say that? I think i only said that the way Eren did it a lot of times is very questionable. Ofc u can defend urself against a snake or something and kill it if it threatens u, i think thats morally right, bu he doesnt stop there. He not only kills the one "snake" that attacked him, he "enjoys" killing other "snakes" and wants to then eradicate them from this planet. His entire Character is questionable and thats exactly what the writer wants. Eren can not be defended anymore. A sane human being can not carry out a genocide with millions of innocent children and kids dying. Eren is not sane and never fully has been. He says that himself when he is in Grishas Memories. He says he always has been like this when he was born.

iu

except titans dont hold the value that animals do for the reasons I listed in a previous comment. u haven't addressed those points. also, u can call eren insane but that's not an actual argument to why he isn't justified. the world wants to genocide eldians or use them as weapons. eren then says "ok ill play the game that u wanted to play". u think eren wanted this? it's self defense. Marley knew full well that eren could use the rumbling but they still attacked, knowingly risking every one of their citizens' lives. if u want to blame someone, blame Marley. also, what is a better solution, please tell me

Miranda

It's a joke but my friend who read the manga when it released told me that Eren's head was flying in the air for 2 months lol because the next chapter is 2 months later

Lilo

Under that logic to could also say the same thing about the other nations trying to kill the Eldians though🤷🏻‍♀️ so you can choose Eren's side but doesn't mean he's right and the other wrong and vice versa. Again it's just a nonstop killing circle cause both sides are trying to protect themselves, Eren just went radical about it💁🏻‍♀️

Anonymous

I think that's the point of this Lilo; the reality of the war around the world it's just like this sometimes, no body it's in the correct side, it's just one side, period. I believe that's the reason to put this anime in my top 3, it's perfect, just think this... when the writer just let us know what it's the "correct side", it's predictable and you need things like a amazing animation, fights and scenes, but in this one, you just need connect all the information, and think, that's it. Btw, I'm sorry for my bad English, I'm Mexican so my native language is the Spanish, so I'm still learning:)

Trinature

Ok i would just recommened u watch the vid i recommended to u, we are both going nowhere

Erin

omg i didn't get an email noti for this, i saw it on your youtube community tab. i am READY to binge this after work today guys. thanks for keeping me fed 🤣🤣💪🏼

Daniel Hawes

There is no right or wrong. Eren is morally wrong but just doing what he has to. "The world is just that cruel." Eren isnt acting radical, he is protecting his people. The world deemed paradis a threat because they can become titans. However, the people of paradis had no idea there was an outside world. They had no idea of anything. They lived in the walls and meanwhile were attacked repeatedly by the candidate titans from Marley insisting the must be wiped out. That the world will never be happy until they are gone. So in the end, Marley side, are just trying to stop a potential threat with unknown power, which I feel is very realistic, and in the alternative, Eren just chose to live and save his people and to crush all attackers coming towards him, because it was made clear Paradis had to go extinct because fear of titans. The alternative was Zeke remove reproduction and then the race be extinct within 80 years. After all the young children age and die without making a family. Eren decided he wants his friends andloved ones to live and be able to have happy lives, with children and a future, this isnt wrong to want.

Daniel Hawes

So as said, both sides are wrong but just trying to maintain their survival. However, I do feel Marley and the world are slightly more at fault. Paradis had no knowledge, they didnt even leave the island, the world just kept attacking and hating a small population within walls, they didnt even know titans were shifters or people. I understand this was the chosen action because they feared people who could become powerful monsters. And I feel its realistic this would happen in real life if an nation had an abnormal power or could threaten the world easily. But like I said, if the world just decided you and your small town/island had to die due to information you didnt know and now the political agenda decided you must all die. You wouldn't allow it. You would save your friends and family like Eren is. Eren chooses to take peoples freedom and lives if they try to take his. Its that simple. It's not radical at all. His family were literally given a death sentence based on nothing he knew about and he wants to fight back even if it means crushing their civillians in return. They didnt hesitate to kill Carla and the families and children who died that day. Eren is now the same, he will crush and kill anyone to keep his friends safe and able to live.

Cloudburst

but if you follow the history, its eldia at fault from the start. the reason we as readers/watchers know erens “wrong” is because of grisha. the 2nd most nationalistic person in the series REGRETS listening to eren, not that he had a choice anyway as eren manipulated his father to get what he wanted. eren doesnt see the rest of the world (the innocent) as people, he sees them as enemies or animals hence the emphasis on the memory of him killing as a kid & his discussion with grisha. he took zekes eugenics plan & flipped it to the rest of the world rather than themselves

Anonymous

1st thing just because eldians have done things way in the past doesnt mean the ignorant and innocent should suffer for it. Grisha still gave him the titan after telling zeke to stop him because he changed his mind once he found out carla died and they were getting invaded. Lastly, he does think of innocents as people and even cried when he knew what had to be done. They literally had an entire conversation about that with reiner before he literally declared war on. are you telling me that the people trying to sell mikasa and killed her parents aren't animals and are innocent?

Daniel Hawes

And why should the Eldians have to accept a fate which means they can never be free or have children? Stay on the island, never have kids and go extinct within 80 years once the children age and die. What kind of life is that? They would be like cattle waiting to die. At no point did I say there was no alternative. And I know the outcome is cruel. It just comes down to who gets to live. And live doesnt necessarily mean being alive, it means being able to live a happy life as you want. Which includes marriage, kids etc. Whats with all your sarcasm and "Hmmmm" 🤣 Cringey af. If you plan to take away Erens freedom, he will take away yours first. All he wants is to be free and live a happy life. Same with his friends. Long happy lives as they please. Not stuck on an island and euthanised. Zekes plan was literally called "euthanasia plan" meaning to put to death humanely.. how is that a good plan? Wipe yourself out first so the enemy dont have to? What if people want to live or have kids or have a future? Is that wrong to fight for? I cant believe you honestly believe that. If this was a real world conflict, I pray my "enemies" are just like you. You can nobly end your people so mine can l live, because I won't accept that my kids are going to die or never have their own future, children or happiness because another nation says so. It's easy to claim the moral route and say you wouldnt or that you must save 95% the world and let your 5% cease to exist. But in reality, if you had a choice of your 5 yr old son dying, or someone elses 5 yr old son dying due to a conflict. You wouldnt hestitate. There is no right or wrong. Its a cruel choice. But if its got to that point. Then that other 5 yr old is deader than a dodo and my child is staying safe. No hesitation. I may lose sleep over it. But I'd do it 100x over. These are the choices made through out the show. By levi. By Zeke. By Reiner. By Bertholdt. By Eren. Its no different. Eren wants to be free and go where he wants. Have kids. Explore the world. The world says no and that Paradis must die or stay on that island till extinction. Eren isnt "wrong" for wanting to not be a prisoner and have his freedom taken away. Seeing the sea. Desserts. Wings of freedom. Scouts. Exploration. "I was born into this world" Wanting to be free. Its been a whole thing since episode 1. Anyone who thinks Eren has changed or is being too radical or extreme has been watching another show/character. Like it was said in the above reaction. Eren has been this way since birth. If you try to take his freedom, he will take yours instead and fight back. Marley gathered all the other big nations in the world and stated they want to kill Eren and the residents of paradis. Now Erens stamping down the world in return. Sounds fair to me. You cant try to wipe a race out of existence and then cry when it backfires in your face.

Daniel Hawes

Everyone wants to talk about options and choices and how manipulation happened but no one ever mentions how Marley brain washes children into thinking Paradis is evil and sends them there on missions. Because I do believe there was a chance for peace in this new generation. Yes, Eldia attacked with the titan first. We see that. But Eren having the founding was a chance to have a clean slate. Look at it this way. If Reiner, Annie and Bertholdt didnt destroy the wall and just infiltrated in as cadets, the world may have been saved. Eren was always set on joining the scouts. Mikasa would have followed. Armin too possibly. We could have reached the same scout group without the wall being destroyed. Thousands still alive. Carla still alive. Bertholdt, Annie and Reiner could have possibly spoke to Eren about his titan abilities because they wouldnt have "betrayed humanity" and then Zeke would meet Eren and still feel he wants to save him. Skipping all the blood shed and misunderstandings. This is the only way peace could have happened. But it was removed by propaganda of Marley making children believe an island is evil. They planned to make a whole race extinct while lying. So I see no issue with Eren killing them all in return. Eren does not care about Ymir, Eldia or the history in the slightest. He will just fight for his friends and his own life. You try to kill him or say he must be prisoner to the island until death and he will crush you. Its that simple. Everyone over complicates it. There is nothing wrong with Eren fighting for his freedom.

Faith Kim

Yeah imagine being a 70 year old Eldian who watched his friends and family die just because you are doomed to be from a race that could turn to a titan! If Marley and the rest of the world could just leave them alone none of them would have even known that titans are humans or shifters in the first place! And just so you know, there is no way in hell the world, especially Marley, would’ve approved of Zeke’s plan because they themselves want the titan powers ONLY FOR THEIR BENEFIT! Or else why would he kept that a secret from them? Or why would they even keep Eldians and train them to invade other countries? They’re just taking the history to justify their stupid actions and have something to blabber about. I’m not saying Eren in right, he is completely morally wrong, but this is his only choice what can he do?

Faith Kim

I believe it’s best for them to watch it after they watch the whole thing

T!

Even if many probably already pointed it out, when Grisha saw Zeke the first time and after, it was a memory of Eren seeing Zeke in the memory. So Grisha saw part of Erens memories which contained this moment. So Grisha saw himself kinda from third person. Eren used this to manipulate Grisha to killing the Reis family after not wanting to do it by himself. When Grisha told Zeke he saw what Erem truly was, and what is yet to come it is too cruel and pleaded to Zeke to stop him. Even though Eren didnt let see Grisha everything what is to come. This is not related to the coordinate or the founder, but moreover the ability of the Attack Titan, remember Eren Kruger thinking of Mikasa and Armin. All of what is happening, and what Eren is about to do, all the cruel things, thats what he saw when kissing Historias hand back in season 3, so he kinda got spoiled his future lmao. At the end of the Anime I will extend this whole thing more but it would be too mu h of a spoiler as of now. Ah because of the timelines. It really depends on how you perceive time in general. Was the first timeline where Grisha killed the Reis family different to the one we saw which Eren influenced, or has it always been like that. The future influences the past which created a future that could influence the past. Thats personal preference in my oppininon, but it really fits the whole freedom narrative Isayama is using during the whole Anime/Manga, which is one of the main aspects of Erens character.

Anonymous

totally not meaning to be 'that' guy, but isn't this spoilers for people who haven't read the Manga? Like me, for example..? Unless this doesn't get explained in later episodes then this isn't something you should say until they see them..

Anonymous

Are you talking about the beginning of the show? He's never showed in the beginning, atleast that I could see, but each sequence with Grisha that was in this episode, has his face hidden, so we don't see that he's looking at OUR Eren from the future

Anonymous

Dude, the amount of spoilers I'm seeing.... It's not even like huge spoilers it's just people saying cryptic stuff and giving away future events "subtly" even though it's SO obvious what ya'll are hinting. Just STOP saying things like **SPOILERS** DONT READ ON UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT I SAW - "wait until later episodes to see Eren's true intentions" .. Like, dude.. <--- That's such a slimy thing to comment, I feel like now I'm gonna be let down if Eren changes his plan in the future episodes, because I haven't read the Manga & that's heavily what this person just implied. Or things like, "The dinosaurs DO mean something ;)" ... I mean, if we weren't Manga readers we wouldn't know this, which means it's probably going to be explained in later episodes when they're released. I read the comments to see people talk about THESE 3 episodes, not MANGA FUTURE EVENTS. I don't understand people... Let's be respectful of non-manga readers and THINK about what you're commenting before you press send.

Kuro Onabi

Damn, hella essays in this comment section.

J Austin

This needs to be the top comment lol. Although, I thought that the "passive power" was actually influenced by Eren's will because the Attack Titan inheritor can choose what memories he wants to send to the past affecting all prior inheritors and that's how he was able to influence Grisha and other inheritors to always seek freedom in their actions.

LandMarkMetal

Ah yes so lets go and kill the world :) Great plan! Also, lets give all that power to a single person while at it. Excellent! So sad arguing with these type of people, trying to convince them of humanity,

LandMarkMetal

Just cause you can write big paragraphs repeating for the most part the same information, doesn't make your point more justified. I feel like I've shared my views on this in previous post, feel free to read it. Once again, Eren made a childish and selfish decision, when there was a much more moral choice given. Sure, Eren did it for his own benefit (to save his own people he loved) but lacked to consider the morality in his actions. And to say, "oh Marley did it so he can do it" is such a cringe and sad counter.

Daniel Hawes

Long points don't need to justify anything. Im not justifying anything. I simply explained Erens predicament. There is nothing selfish or childish about what he did. Also, this is just my opinion. Take note that, I never said you was wrong. Infact, I said Eren was cruel. That there is no right or wrong and just people saving their people. I then said if I had the choice of my child or someone elses child, I would choose mine. Selfish and cruel perhaps but if there was no choice, I'd save my own blood first. This is all Eren is doing. Doesnt make it "right", I clearly stated this is just what I think. My original post states I am a yeagerist. Merely because I have the same mentality. In a push or shove decision, I'd save my family. This is strictly my opinion and how I viewed the show. You calling someone sad and cringe because they have a different opinion, and that they need to reread your points, tells me all I need to know about your maturity. As if to stay Im too dumb to grasp your point. 😂 There is no "counter arguements" or facts. My opinion is my opinion. Not once have I suggested any of you are wrong or "cringe" over a personal opinion. I only said that your over the top sarcasm and calling things "cringe" was cringy. How dare I share my opinion and view on a public post on a fictional show, right? 🤣 Apologies that my point of view apparently upsets you so much.

LandMarkMetal

Did not say you were cringe or wrong, more so the argument makes me cringe. I understand its your opinion and merely sharing mine as well. I'm merely playing off of a moral ground. Two options were presented and I feel like Zeke's plan was more moral. Eren at the least should have used the rumbling as a deterrent, which he definitely could have and discussed it with the rest of the people of the Island.

Daniel Hawes

Zekes plan only works to a degree. It means never leaving the island and having to be stuck there. Never having kids. The idea of marriage and love kind of meets a dead end if you can't truly be happy. There is no future. I dont think the Eldians would live peacefully in that circumstance even if they was left alone while they got old and died. It's basically a prison. Confined and punished for simply being Eldian and being able to become a titan. Being allowed to live in a prison with strict conditions is not the same as living. Some may not want children and be fine with it. Others may want to explore the world and have a family. Its hard to view it as selfish when people just want the right to be free and live. The best chance of peace in my opinion was leaving paradis alone. They had no idea about titans, they had no idea about shifters, they didnt know the world existed outside the walls. If the wall was never breached. Eventually Grishas 13 yrs would be up and Eren would be the founding and with no blood shed, the possibility of talking and resolving things would have been possibly. I do doubt it though, as Marley is completely fixedon Paradis being destroyed. Even if Zeke completed his plan, I am not sure that Marley would stop attacking. They would think "Whats to stop one of the titans attacking between now and extinction?" And it would continue. And it would be a valid point to a degree. In the span of 80-90 years to get rid of all the children/babies in the euthanadia plan there can be atleast 6 titans. And thats per type of titan. So 6 (every 13 yrs) more on top of Eren, Armin and Zeke. 18 potential titans who could attack in the time it takes to go extinct. Because a newborn would get it even if they choose to no pass it on anf die with it. So even with Zekes plan, I strongly believe Marley would still attack out of fear. So Eren obviously had a huge issue with being a prisoner and having no future or freedom. So that was a bust. But even if Eren jumped on board. I have huge doubts they would have left paradis in peace. If an enemy is hell bent on your extinction how should you act? If you want to have a family and explore and live a full life but get told you cant and must never leave an island, should you say yes? From this stand point. I feel Eren did the best action he could.

24xhibit .

Now u guys can go back to episode ONE of the show, yes the FIRST episode, and see future Eren in his black hoodie that he was wearing while going through his memories with zeke, in the background just spectating. Also in episode 2 :) foreshadowing to a whole other level. 🤯🤯

24xhibit .

Hint: when eren/Mikasa go and see the scouts come back and the soldier gives the mourning mother her sons arms. While the camera is panning to them returning. And the second one is when Mikasa hits Eren to eat his food in the second episode. Who's that guy in the background eavesdropping? 🤯

adam

one of the craziest plot twist in anime history! eren is such an interesting character, many channels on yt had been discussing about his personality

Anonymous

The reason I am with Eren - if you gonna try to kick a cat chilling outside, its your fault you got scars and if that cat is a tiger its your fault your head is rolling in its mouth. Rumbling is what marley brought in the hunger to control ice burst stone and the founding titan AND do you really think if marley got the founding they would chill out? Nah buddy they would've killed everyone else to take over the world and make slaves cuz they were warmongers.

Tyrek Humes

F it I’m still team eren 😭😭😭

Susanom

Team Eren here. It's all about choices at this point: you either destroy others or wait until Eldians are killed or at best in camps. Both choices lead to death. Some people will instinctively decide based on the amount of deaths, but I am going to go with people who I feel belonging to, which are Eldians. In our world for thousands of years we can't forget about skin colour, imagine if there was a race who can turn into horrific man-eating titans which literally used to kill and enslave you for generations. Try solving that. About an agreement between Eldians and humans: Eldia protected itself for 100 years using fear of the titans, BUT technology is going to render this deterrent useless. That's the point of the whole war.

Susanom

The question which will never be answered: What if Erwin was alive. Honestly, all the way to the ending of the story this question will be getting more relevant.

Susanom

IDK what you are expecting. It's literally about stopping Eren or not, and you should know what stopping means. To me the ending is garbage that I expected many years ago. The author got soft, that's how I knew the ending.

Zechree

im in tears rn ep 20 is just so tragically beautiful. Phenomenal video

Phyllis

Ymir was kind and good person but was young. She became a slave and brainwashed, people betrayed her, got punished and hunted down even though she was innocent, got the titan powers, got used by the disgusting king as war slave, got impregnated by that same disgusting king, protected that same disgusting king and in turn got no thank you but just a "Get up you slave!" speech, got chopped up and fed to her own children by that disguising royal king and continued to see how the titan powers were being used and the royalties continuing to command her despite even after her death. Ymir is also human, even she will resent and like what Eren said that Ymir prepared and was waiting for someone like Eren to tell her that she is not slave and she is free. She gave her powers to Eren who is not a royalty. This is when the protagonist turns antagonist. Despite, Eren's decision to from what Armin figured, I still support and understand Eren's decision from his point of view and all that he has been through. It may not be the right decision but it was his way of protecting his loved ones, his people. To be honest, I dislike Gabi. Gabi was just like Eren. She was brainwashed but she knew about the titans at least and their memory was not wiped out by the royalties. It gets even more difficult to continue watching on from this point onwards. Good luck.

Emily Dawson

LMAO I loved the last part about the titans going through the water, "Switch with me!" Killed me.

Eli DaGreat

No bruh that’s like the Jews trying to kill all the Germans. It’s dumb

Valde

I know it can't really be compared but if I had to pick between the people I care about and randoms, Its not that difficult of a choice. Mass genocide is kinda f'd up though

Anonymous

True. Like I get where eren is coming from. I don’t expect him to lay down and die. It’s a tough situation, but it’s a pick your poison kinda think. Everyone wants to genocide the island, zèle wants to [soft] genocide if you will, and eren wants to genocide everyone else

ThunderRaichi10000

I’m still on team Eren the rest of the world brought this upon themselves they want to wipe Eren and his people, then Eren has every right to fight back and to do the same to everyone else.

ThunderRaichi10000

@LandMarkMetal They want to wipe out Eren and his people, then I say Eren has every damn right to do the same the rest of the world brought this upon themselves, and if you would look at it through Eren’s eyes you’ll understand his point, also your a fool no one is siding with Eren because he’s so cool or something dumb like that we are siding with Eren because we understand his point and why he’s doing it, unlike you who’s just sitting there refusing to understand his point and call it childish (which it isn’t).

Amber Augustine

team eren all the way. the world wants to wipe out the people he loves. He is just doing it first.

allan

Eren has to do the legwork since Zeke literally had his entire spine blown away by magath. You'd figure he would not be able to stand let alone run.

allan

Also Ron's take on which Eren Grisha is talking to is very interesting. But if you go back to what Grisha was asking we can be pretty sure that he was always talking to his son Eren since he's asking why he won't show all the (future) memories, and only future holders have future memories. Past Eren won't be able to show it since it's not his memory (which is why he doesn't know who armin and mikasa was when he mentioned them). Very astute observation nonetheless.

GranAutismo

Eren saw the entire future when he kissed historias hand. That's why he already acted very differently in the s3 finale.
