Yes ur right but it’s because even with the broken gear Eren spirit didn’t break and he held it for seconds then he fell. Because of seeing Eren try so hard Keith realized he should let him go become a soldier

i actually thought that he tried to sabotage eren because he wanted to test if a mere bystander really cant change anything associated with "special" people and then saw the result that he really couldnt do anything because eren still managed to pass...
