There are bears in Japan and they do get wild bear attacks. People in Northern Japan do eat bears since it is one of their source of food or delicacy for them up in the North of Japan where it can get very cold during winter. I would assume those who stay more to the rural countryside are the ones who would hunt for their own food. Hunters in Japan when they have hunted a wild animal like bear or deer, they will need to report their hunt to their local town government office so that they can keep track and not overhunt. It's not common to see bear meat but you may still find food such as bear curry that are sold commonly in certain shops around Japan which is a specialty from a prefecture in Japan. I'm sure not only people in Japan eat bear, deer/venison and boar meat. These wild animals meat tend to be more gamey compared to the farmed animals definitely. I haven't actually got to try bear meat yet.

It's dope how Yukihira and Kuga are now working together despite them competing against eachother before. I never had bear meat before but it might be good never knock it till you try it. Never had deer meat or alligator before either but I know people who have had it before and said it's good. I've heard with deer meat you have to marinate it to get rid of the gamey taste. Same case with bear meat as they mentioned in this episode, marinating it with yogurt. I just realized end of the episode Hayama looks Ishvalan and then Ron mentioned it lol its scary how we think the same thing at the same time lol 😂

Just to add, people eat horse meat in Japan too. I've tried horse sashimi in Japan as an experience since it was a local delicacy at the prefecture I went to.
