The reason many naruto fans like the pain arc the most is because pain was always setup to be this mysterious shadow figure and the leader of the akatsuki. Watching naruto and then 160 episodes into shippuden you finally get the reveal. So its just a rewarding feeling for most old naruto fans. But the upcoming arcs are even better i feel

Pain could've killed Naruto several times. He was fighting to capture him not to kill him. So he technically never fought naruto (or even the 9 tails) while going all out. When he fought Kakashi and Jiraiya he was actually trying to kill them, so it took no effort on his part for that reason. Those in the naruto community who are interested in power scaling the characters pretty much agree that naruto lost to pain the moment he was pinned down on the ground with the rods because he just could've been killed then and there.

Pain arc is people favorite, mine included, because it never feels that you have a moment to breathe, starts with Jiraiya, follows with Itachi reveal, and ends with Pain defeat, you never get a break, the rest of Naruto is still amazing and has peaks moments all over, but they aren't condense as in this arc, this arc feels like it was written for short 20+ episode anime that needed to impress you every episode, the rest of Naruto is written as how it, a 400 episode anime where you can include more downtime between the peaks

Just a quick word for Ron. I think ur wrong about Naruto. First of all Naruto never had parents, he grew up alone without LOVE, he never received love. He was hated by everyone and the one and only time he finds a friend he tries to kill him. Also he lost all of his senseis, Kakashi, Jiraiya and the toad. Naruto had a terrible life but I agree Sasuke and Itachi had it worst.

The scene where he says "give up on me giving up" it was said by Jiraiya originally when he sliced the forehead of the green haired ninja and then Minato read the book and saw himself followed by an adult Naruto and you just saw Nagato have the same vision. The line is also what Naruto said when he destroyed the last pain body with Rasengan.

But it makes sense so far I’m not a manga reader even tho I been stupidly spoiled about JJK online. So far he only died once and then was close to death? I’m just saying reviving all these characters at once just didn’t sit right with me. Kakashi I get OG and imo his character would add so much more to the story but this dude did just revive half of a huge village just for 1 (his) life. I’m not hating Naruto as I said is my personal favorite but at least JJK gets into curse reversal pretty fast. The OG Naruto never said there’s jutsu that can bring people back to life even tsunade current Hokage and the best medical ninja in the village could not achieve this feat besides a fish.

Because when Naruto enters the tree we don’t know how much either really has in the tank(I could go into why… but apparently knowing Nagato’s clan is a spoiler)… using words rather than fighting they were able to break the cycle of violence that had/has been the history of the world they are in… rather than the mutually assured distruction that occurs when violence goes against violence and the cycle repeats itself even the way Nagato did before he talked to Naruto.

Great conclusion to the arc, guys. Glad you enjoyed. From Shikamaru Shippuden- Sasuke Shippuden- Pain, that was the best pacing that the show Naruto Shippuden has. The rest of the show is good, but temper your expectations just 20%, the animation studio has a tough time with the pacing. The rest of the anime is actually much better in manga form, because Kishimoto is consistent and amazing, but the studio starts changing character designs and uses a lot of filler and makes little missteps.

Naruto better than me coz I would have been petty as hell when they started showing me love after all the hate and neglect they was giving me. Also to me, between Naruto and Sasuke, Sasuke definitely experienced more traumatic moments but Naruto has experienced the most neglect and loneliness than any character in the show. Remember, the village just started liking Naruto. He’s definitely faced an immense amount of pain it’s just no as shocking and intense as Sasuke’s. The way I see it Sasuke’s trauma is the type you get major PTSD after and Naruto is the type that depresses to a point of self deletion.

When Kakashi said "He's gotten heavier" its a callback to when Kakashi carried Naruto after his battle with Sasuke back in OG Naruto When I first watched I was in complete denial about Kakashi's death lol I knew it was some bs. Felt bad for y'all when some of the comments kept reassuring you that Kakashi is dead so I'm glad you guys finally made it to this episode and you're happy now lol Loved some of the recaps that were shown of everything Naruto went through. Naruto overall story is well written and unique that I believe is greater than any anime ive watched in terms of story telling and the message is telling. Of course attack on titan has changed that cause that was an absolutely amazing show with lots of plot twist. Naruto show really brings emotions out of you especially when scenes come on, along side "sadness and sorrow". This episode is many ( including myself ) favorite due to the emotions of happy tears of the journey Naruto has come and accomplishment. Now I think rice and ginger understand those feelings as well.

Naruto teaches you so many valuable lessons man it’s beautiful. You can see forgiveness and love but more importantly, Naruto teaches you to cooperate for a better future despite the odds, even if you hate the person. One of the quotes that clearly implies this is when Naruto says he can’t forgive Nagato and hates him but he can also acknowledge that if he was to kill Nagato now, that would completely go against their master’s teachings and what he truly wanted Naruto to see beyond his hatred. Even though at that moment he hated Nagato, Naruto decided to extend the hand of reconciliation because it’s necessary to get the future he wants. So even if you hate someone, there can always be another path other than revenge and destruction. And through that cooperation, a new perspective can spawn as we see with both Naruto and Nagato, as we see with what happens afterwards. Naruto reached to Nagato and gave him hope and because of that, Nagato also healed the hatred in Naruto’s heart by using the rinne rebirth to revive everyone in Konoha. Both don’t look at each other with hate anymore but as fellow disciples, sibling disciples.

Boruto is literally a fanfic with budget by a Kishimoto’s assistant (Kodashi) right after Kishimoto went into a hiatus. I tried to watch and read Boruto. I can assure you that Boruto truly isn’t worth of reading and/or watching. Kishimoto’s work (Naruto) is the major thing that keeps Boruto relevant in the market. I believe it would’ve been better if it was a story of its own (an original work and world).

The entire Pain saga is amazing, however I will say bringing back all the people who died in the invasion will always diminish it a bit for me. The way this arc ended felt like such a passing of the torch moment, the moment everyone has grow from this and the mass revive just kinda feels cheap because let’s be honest it was just a way to bring back Kakashi. Which if that’s the case Kakashi should’ve just been in a coma instead of being written as “dead”. Nonetheless still a top tier anime arc.

Wrong he is strong enough to use all the abilities on his own since hes an Uzumaki but the thing is he used forbidden jutsu against Hanzo which crippled him plus getting his legs blown which immobilized him so he had to be stationary for the sake of the plot and be limited to one ability per body else he would easily smoke naruto

Boruto is good if you skip the fillers. Narutos fillers are great and fun, its shame you skipped them. Borutos fillers are literally nonsense just to fill the gaps like the name suggest, while Narutos fillers add depth to other characters and other teams. Tldr, watch boruto after u finish with this.

I believe it is more painful to lose something than just living without knowing how it feels. He has no family, that’s his reality (that is truly sad Indeed) while pain and sasuke got their entire family killed. nagato lost his parents in front of him, believing it was his fault for making noise. Then he had to survive through war and hunger while being rejected by everyone cause they couldn’t help (still as a child) . Then he survived with 2 other orphans that grew up to try and change things but Nagato was forced to kill his best friend (almost a brother) with his own hands and went crazy and became a god/terrorist who killed the man who saved him and his friends. To me Pain is top 1 most painful background in Naruto, even sasuke comes after (he at least grew up with a loving mom and brother for many years until itachi killed them)

Fair, but I do believe that Nagato's mass Rinne Rebirth is a necessary plot device as a showing of what he was willing to give to end the cycle of hatred, that he had believed for so long. It was an action, and the most that he could do at that, to show Naruto that he truly was going to believe in him, and not just words. Also, up to this point, Nagato is the most powerful character in the Narutoverse, and he inherited the abilities of the God of the Ninja world, so when one of his Pain's has the ability to bring his other Pain bodies back to life, the mass rebirth he performs isn't really as far fetched as you think, for a person as powerful as him.

Naruto is the mc so it emphasize naruto’s background, everything is here to develop him as a character but fact by fact nagato is way more painful for me. The simple fact that naruto didn’t know at all his family so he did not « lose them » + grew up in a country at peace and was safe until became a ninja. Its only relevant because it was announced as the sequel to Naruto but in trying to establish itself as a good anime, it tears down everything that Naruto has succeeded in building up. If not for riding off the Naruto brand, it would literally just be another unpopular anime that only die-hard weebs (who will literally watch anything and say its good) would watch. I think the biggest problem with Boruto, at least for those of us who enjoyed Naruto not only for the fights but also for all the teachings and philosophy of life that it left us, is that when they created Boruto they did it thinking about sales, not about history and teaching. It wasn't until Kishimito decided to follow the manga that I think it started to change and supposedly improve, but when I saw the first 50 or 60 chapters, I realized that it was something totally different and I didn't like it at all. We loved Naruto's ending and the whole plot was completed from beginning to end. Although some of the reasons they raised were understandable, I did not like at all the way they portrayed Naruto in Boruto, and many other characters that we love, I feel that they changed their essence. And let's be honest, Naruto fans love Naruto, and I think Boruto's character and story failed to reach our hearts from the beginning because the context of his story is very different. Making us see the characters we love, in the background, with personalities that do not convince or please us and on top of that, with a protagonist who does not represent us or impact us too much, was what caused many of us to not even follow his story, even if there was some justification for it. it's a pity

Ahhh I can't believe the Pain arc is over!!! Truly the BEST arc imo. For sure there are going to be some solid moments going forward but for me as far as arcs go, pains is PEAK!! Also, about Boruto, I can't say too much without spoilers but I watched the entire thing, fillers and all 😮‍💨 and there were a lot, but it's not terrible. The show gets a lot of hate and I get it bc there were a lot of misses with the direction the show could've gone and with some of the characters but I don't believe it deserves all the trash it gets. I'll give you a tip that a friend told me when I was questioning if I should watch it, he said, "Don't go into it expecting it to be like Naruto. You have to watch it as it's own anime" and that helped a lot although I still from time to time would fall into the habit of comparing bc it's only natural to. If you guys watch it you'll see for yourselves and form your own opinions on it. But I would love to discuss it with ya when that time comes and what I feel could've made the anime a lot better.

This arc is too intense I think for a lot of people to be able to analyse as its happening. When I first watched the whole time I was just thinking about whether or not Kakashi is coming back or how many more people will die before Pain is taken down. Then when I rewatched shippuden, Pain became my favourite character. He made me feel emotions and thoughts no one else did in this entire series. And that's why the writing for him and this arc was so special. That's why its better to reflect on it once it's fully over.

For Naruto's pain bit. keep in mind He was treated as an actual monster his entire childhood. Not a single person cared about him. Sure he didn't watch his parents die, but at the same time without ever knowing why if you remember a village threw a mask at him just for him going to a store. Sasuke was the first person he ever looked at as a friend and an equal and to that end Sasuke became more than just a friend to Naruto he's like his brother. And that desperate fight to get him back was done because his brother was not only leaving him, but going off to basically be consumed by an evil snake man. He finally made a friend after being treated like a cockroach his entire life. Him hitting Sakura was Naruto realizing he's so weak he can't even control the power that's inside of him, running amok and endangering the lives of everyone around him. He desperately wants to connect with people and would never hurt his friends, dude would rather rip out his own heart than kill a friend but the nine-tails forces him to act like that. And don't forget by the time this conversation happens, he thought for a bit Hinata was dead, (realized later she wasn't through sage mode). Realized Kakashi had died. Had his home that he love so much destroyed and then Jiraiya was absolutely devastating. Plus he doesn't know if Tsunade is okay or not. He as a sage is also aware of every single villager that is dead by whose chakra he couldn't sense. For example shizune. Naruto at this point in the story has gone through more pain than most people in the real world will. Not that i don't think it's valid thinking Nagato has been through some shit. But Naruto pretty much caught up to Nagato through Nagato's own hand, which is pretty interesting when you think about it. (This is in no way a criticism I'm just laying out Naruto's experiences until now.)

I think the point was that comparing traumas is futile. Kakashi himself is very tragic, he lost his parents and teammates. Orochimaru lost his parents. Tsunade lost her brother and lover. Almost everyone notable in the series went through some kind of trauma. It's really what Minato said, that to be a ninja is to confront hatred. Nagato let the pain get to him, while Naruto was able to confront his own hatred in the end by not fighting Nagato.

Boruto is so different from Naruto, and that could have been used as something positive and exciting, but all they managed to do was go completely against what we love about Naruto. Everything that we Naruto fans adore and touched our hearts, I feel is totally different and ignored in Boruto. As it was made with the mere need to sell more, I feel that at first they did not build the foundations of the story well so not many of us could empathize with his character, and although now Kishimoto took command, we know that Naruto ends in Naruto Shippuden. If you watch Boruto, I think it's best to watch it as a separate anime to avoid disappointment. You will understand when you start it, just my opinion

I would like to add that I think Naruto thought there was something wrong with him since he was little, and when Sasuke left, from a psychological point of view, he could have thought that someone close to him was leaving again, like his parents. It's like that trauma of abandonment that many orphans suffer. On the other hand, let's not forget that although Sasuke was very bad psychologically when he was with Naruto, the people around him still praised Sasuke and despised Naruto. So in a way, Sasuke didn't experience that rejection until he became a deserter. At least not in the same way as Naruto. Furthermore, for a long time Naruto did not know why they rejected him like that, since he did not know that he had the 9 tails inside him. Not to mention that he experienced all of this as a CHILD. Something way similar to Gara's pain, that's why they get along well. And as I said above, I think Naruto covers everything up well because he lives laughing, being extroverted, etc. But people are wrong. Many times the people who smile the most are the most broken inside. Personally, I always feel some sadness or nostalgia in Naruto's smiles, and I can't help but cry in scenes like the ones in this chapter, when I see him genuinely happy and being accepted. I agree that Nagato and Sasuke perhaps had different, traumatic and strong pains, but I don't think Naruto is less, just different.

If you're mainly interested in cool fights, then canon parts of Boruto might be something for you (looking at you Ron). If you want to latch onto characters you know and love from Naruto, and the Naruto world in general, you might be disappointed (looking at you Michelle.) Personally, I've tried watching Boruto twice, and I just can't. I thought my nostalgia and investment in Naruto as a whole was enough to carry me through and keep me interested, but it just wasn't. I felt like it was pretty apparent that Boruto, as a concept, was not made out of passion for the original story, but just as a way to capitalize and make money off Naruto's success. Personally, Boruto kinda tarnishes Naruto and everything it stands for, as a story.

I completely agree with you, Nati! The plot in Boruto isn't good. Some parts of the story conflict with what happened in Naruto, which is absurd. Moreover, most of the characters from Naruto have poorly designed and bad personalities. I mean, look at Naruto or Gaara. They've been done a disservice, their designs are just terrible, and their personalities suffer as well. Rock Lee comes across like a crack user, and Shino, who originally had one of the coolest designs, is portrayed poorly. Konohamaru is another HUGE disappointment. It's all just so wrong. Each Pain was capable of doing 1 of Nagato's abilities, Nagato is the original 'Pain' thus the 7th, operating in the shadows - so of course he's able to use a jutsu strong enough to revive everyone he's killed. A major draw back of that Rebirth ability is death or years off his life, depending how much chakra he has in the moment.

When it comes to Boruto, i think people press their nostalgia insanely hard onto the series - instead of giving Boruto a fair, unbiased watch. The manga canon in the show is fire, solid lore and action while the anime canon, attempts to have random slice of life moments w/ diff characters for us as the viewer to build bonds with. I used to be a Boruto hater but i gave it another try and its really not as bad as the amount of hate it gets. I get MHA vibes and i used to be a MHA hater as well.

It was being written by Ukyo Kodachi, Kishimoto's assistant at first but then he stopped and Kishimoto took over from chapter 52 I believe and it has been amazing since then. It might not be as great as shippuden, but I still really loved it. I think it gets a lot of hate because the fillers are so bad, but we dont judge it by it's fillers. That somewhat gives some merit to it. It has some good fights ill admit that. Lets also omit the characters from naruto except Naruto and his family, sasuke and his. Fillers aside, the main anime under all those conditions is still a hard 4-5/10 at best. The story feels like a kids anime. The plot is okay but the writing is awful. And then theres the absolute worst part for me - all the random shit they added to the story. I honestly regret watching it because i listened to someone like u telling me its worth the watch. Sorry man...they could have done so much with that story if they even continued to build on the first plot with the "tools" even. I keep saying it like many other people are saying it in comments. The conversation began and all of us who thought alike exchanged opinions. Why does that bother you? I think that those of us who perceive Naruto's story in the same way understand well what the problem is. Many of us find people here who think and feel the same, and we can give our opinion openly. For example, what I mentioned about sales is pretty clear, from the moment Kishimoto finished Naruto and left someone else in charge of Boruto, it was pretty obvious that Naruto's story ends there. The main point of Naruto ends in Naruto, because Kishimoto had the entire story from start to finish perfectly thought out and meditated. Which does not happen with Boruto. Just because you like Boruto doesn't mean that everyone else does. I could make a huge message telling you everything I think about Boruto and what I dislike, but I don't think it makes sense when clearly my message and the rest of the messages are to express my opinion and share it with those of us who genuinely feel the same way. I never said legacy, I always said essence. They are different things. When I say essence, I'm talking about all the life lessons that Naruto leaves behind, and that do not exist in Boruto, because it focuses on other things. And although some of Boruto's points are moderately justified, in terms of his behavior and that of the people around him, due to its context, I don't feel like It has anything more to contribute to my life. Naruto precisely focuses on finding that peace that they talk about so much, and on the other hand, in Boruto he questions this. I don't want to give details, I feel like everything is a spoiler. But the point is that by the time Boruto arrives, there isn't much more to tell, because what Naruto proposes ends there. And I don't think we want to watch all the characters we love in second place if the main characters here aren't solid. This happens because Boruto emerged as a need to continue making money, not as a solid story. It is not that difficult to understand, it is the problem of thousands of sagas, or second parts that come out because the first one did well. And as I said before, Boruto could have be a good idea, but they didn't take the time to think about it like Kishimoto did with Naruto, simply because the main point of it was SALES. Of course it may have good fights and good things on it, but to me is not even closer to Naruto, and it couldn't catch my attentiont. That's it. That's my opinion. If you think Boruto's story is super well done, keep watching it. In that case I think you should go to comments from people who are Boruto fans, because clearly we are going to differ.

I agree that when it comes to pain, there are many characters in this anime whose pain I would not like to experience, but the world is not that simple, it all depends on the person, what they are facing, what they have been through, how old they are, from many factors. Naruto is definitely not a Deathnote-Situation. What happens after this arc is by no means bad. There is a lot of insane peak stuff coming after pain. It is just that some lore stuff that is revealed towards the very end did feel kind of weird (?) to some fans. The Boruto hate is unreasonable in my opinion. It is really not that bad. Just avoid the fillers (which there are many). But no matter if you watch Boruto or not, make sure to watch the movie ("Naruto The Last") after Naruto. It is definitely very worth it, in my opinion :)

23:12 I think the anime did very poorly in chosing the flashbacks for Naruto's pain. In the Manga they didn't show any flashbacks and Naruto doesn't say "I also have felt pain". Because of that, the rest of what Naruto is actually saying spreads this insane confidence. Not because he is "sure of himself", but because he believes, without (!) being sure of anything. Because his believe is so strong, despite not being able to "know". And this unshakable believe makes you believe in him too. It makes you believe he might actually be able to withstand any pain without changing. It doesn't make you sure, but it makes you believe. Also, we as an audience know the pain he has been through (which is way worse than the anime flashback's showed and is explored in more detail in future arcs, I think); but him not talking about it at all makes this scene hit so much harder. The Anime flashbacks and him talking about his pain kind of removed some of that impact, for me at least :)

If you're satisfied with the ending of Naruto and feel full, dont watch Boruto. If you want more Naruto, despite a lesser storyline, because you love the characters that much, watch Boruto. It's just that Naruto's storyline is a lot to go up against and it's impossible not to compare the two. Boruto is hated because Shippuden was too good.

So the stronger the eye ability the stronger the effect on your body. For example, the mangekyo affects your sight after only a couple of uses. Rinnegan is just so much more powerful, so it did implicit eternal damage on his body. She was just implying that he only had little chakra within him, either way if he didn’t rebirth everyone, he would still die very soon.

This is a question that has been a thing for Naruto fans forever? There are several reasons that could be why? But they are all conjecture. Like, Konan’s insinuation was either just her not knowing how it works, a misinterpretation/mistranslation, or retconned? Tobi may have lied about how it worked? Nagato could have maybe wanted to die here, for various reasons? To pay for what he had done? Not just here, but for all the stuff he has done. Or he could have just been ready to die, or a combination of those two reasons?

Well, Nagato implicitly said that he could only revive the people that died during his recent attack, implying a time limit for the revival of people. I always assumed that he had to do it now because by the time his chakra would haven been recovered the souls of the people that died during his attack would already be gone. Kakashi and his father were talking in some kind of realm between life and death. After their talk his dad was finally able to properly pass on. I'm guessing that only souls that are still in this in-between realm can be brought back to life.

Pain arc was fire but I hated how it ended. It hurt pain as a villian and the entire arc itself. The stakes were huge , we lost a lot of people and then .. Nagato just brings everyone back.. it felt like all that happened for no reason.. another talk no jutsu from Naruto.

There’s no Deep level of critical thinking needed to understand what was said or feelings displayed. It was straight forward. Kishimoto took a great high stakes arc and reversed it entirely by proving to his audience there was actually no real danger since everywhere was written to be brought back. Was it a really good arc? Yes. But it could’ve been one of the best in all of MANGA.
