Here's a quick breakdown of how my commission process looks like!
They were going for a scene in a ballroom or at a fancy party + a masquerade dress design. 

SO first I usually like to put all the refs they provide me with in one place. I added a few images that could help me portray the scene, for example for this piece I'd look up: chandeliers, ballrooms, warm colours, decor, balconies, etc.

Then I move onto poses and thumbnails. I like to get a lot of variety in with the poses, settings, lighting, colours, etc. (admittedly I came up short in this one lol) to visually solve as many problems as possible for myself and the client.

Since the timezones tend to be different, and considering our schedules might not line up, communication is usually the most time consuming part for me. So having everything laid out visually saves us a lot of time AND we both avoid awkwardly trying to explain how the head should tilt back and to the side with her hair falling- you get it..


After that's all done, everything should be smooth sailing from here~
