I've always liked this movie a lot, FW's Oscar was definitely well deserved. The doctor character central to the movie is completely fictional - though the Scottish doctor he is loosely based (though the character seems to be an amalgam of a bunch of different people like Tom Cruise' character in Last Samurai) on is actually a HIV/AIDS doctor and they have him in this movie sleeping with everything that movies, sorta weird irony. Truth is it's told from McAvoy's perspective, so he didn't necessarily see everything going on - the truth is Amin was actually a lot worse than the movie actually shows because of that perspective.
