Love this film it is in my top 3 films of all time, John Wayne is the one TRUE rooster. His fill-your-fist scene when the music hits and he whirls his rifle feels like superman opening his shirt. the new one is unwatchable to me i like some of jb's other films but can't stand his rooster. John Wayne is the one true Rooster.

FYI Judge parkers Courthouse is still standing and is part of the historic site in downtown fort smith the jail was in the basement it has both the big open room where 50 or so would be held in 1 cell and a few individual cells as well. Judge parker actually did not like public hangings the Gallows has a high wall built around it only about 50 or so would be able to actually witness the hangings. They do hang ropes from the gallows on the dates of executions it could do 6 at a time in 2 rows of 3 and it did so twice. Judge parker was actually opposed to the Death penalty but it was the Law and it was his job to uphold the law.Judge Parker is Buried in the National musiem in fort smith next to Gen. William Darby founder of the US army rangers. The US marshalls service museum is now built in Fort Smith it is still working on some of the exhibits more deputies i believe lost their lives in the line of duty out of Fort Smith than any other district showing just how rough the area was covering the "Indian territory" modern-day Oklahoma. Fort Smith is the only city in the US with a former Brothel on the national historic site register, the owner lied and said it was a Hotel the truth wasn't known until it was too late

The horse in this, and other film's, belonged to Wayne. In his last film, "The Shootist", Wayne had it put into his contract that his horses name had to be mentioned five times. The horses name was Dollar. He was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 1964, and had his left Lung and two rib's removed. He finally died in 1979. A legend.

Dennis Hopper was the kid that got his finger's cut off, and whose face you laughed so much at LOL. The hat Lucky Ned wears in this film, Duval wears in the 2003 film "Open Range". A western that also stars Kevin Costner.

Another great john Wayne is big Jake my favorite! And wow look at all the love john Wayne git in the comments a john Wayne poll seems appropriate

technically Arnold copied John Wayne in terminator 2. The rifle whirl is a John Wayne signature move, I know he does it in at least 2 other films. If J wants some nice scenery he needs to watch 1939 Stagecoach filmed on location in monument valley.

$100 in 1880 is about $3000 today. If i am thinking right US marshalls were paid mostly on bounty money. back then Also the guy who played lawyer dagged is the voice of piglet in Winnie the pooh

the treatment that John wayne put on the snake bite was to cut the bite and put Chewing tobacco on it to try and draw out some of the venom. it is a good home treatment for bee and wasp stings it does work on those not sure about snake bites.

john wayne was the 1st to do it at least on screen in 1939's stage coach.

The Winchester "spin" was done for the first time in the 1938 western "Stagecoach". The barrel was cut down, so Wayne could clear his shoulder easier Almost every western he was in after that, he carried the same big lever loop Winchester. John Ford, the director, insisted on Wayne to play "The Kid". The gun Arnold used was a Model 1897 Winchester shotgun. Many being chambered in 10 guage.
