There seems to be a few videos saying the doorway Ethan is standing at in tgw end has some kind of meaning like the inside of the doorway is civilization and outside is wilderness which us where Ethan walks off in instead of civilization

I'm a huge fan of Westerns and John Wayne in particular but this film has never sat right with me. I know it's highly regarded, including by John Wayne himself, but I'd be hard pressed to even put it in my top ten John Wayne films. I much prefer the Rio Bravo/El Dorado/Hondo type character. Still nice to see you trying something a little outside the norm. Hope you enjoy classics like this.

this is one of those Movies that might be the best Western ever made to a lot of filmmakers, and I think it might be one of johns best performances but that doesn't mean its in everyone's favorite I don't think it would be in my top 10 JW films either. but it is AFI's #1 on its top ten all-time westerns, Stagecoach and Red River are also on the top ten.
