Many thanks for the support, 2022 has probably been the best year of the show so far and it isn't possible to do any of this without you, my killers. Much love as always.

Next episode is Chapter 9 of the Octopus: Bob Maxwell and the Dancing Hare

Only the obvious question. Was Covid a ‘deep event’?

GhostStoriesForTheEnd

Yes and no. I'll try to articulate this on the special itself. Don't worry, I'm not going anti-vax/Alex Jones or anything.

How do you think today's elites and deep political operators (especially the agents at security agencies like the CIA and MI5) compare to their predecessors of the immediate postwar period and then the reaganite turn? Are they better, worse, smarter, stupider, more or less competent, etc ?

Do you think the Phoenix program was a trial run on how to do ops in America?

In the past there was less internet :)

Is Santa an op?

Playdoh

Your BZ (a substance and program that should be WAY more discussed on the "tinfoil left" and in general)/bioweapon ep. was a great coverage of this. Much like proposed "deep events", it's extremely unlikely we'll ever know the causality, intentionality or really ANY details below surface level. That doesn't menan one can't learn from and cross-reference the proceeding moves of powerful actors, whether they're acting in accordance with a plan or capitalizing on/minimizing something unplanned and unexpected. But uh... Hanlon's Razor is a fucking op IMO haha 😖

Playdoh

Certainly less charisma and mystique, they've lost that spy fiction "je ne sais quoi". That worsens their relation with much of the US/NATO public, but I can't say it seems to make them less effective.

It’s a great year for the show and I think you’ve found a good episode release rhythm even if books of war went on pause for the octopus

Can we just get a list of books you think everyone who is interested in the topics you cover should read? Thanks for making my favorite podcast!

what celebrities and or notable figures do you think "have stairs in their house" if you know what i mean (dangerous question, do not answer)

Maybe this is too broad of a question but what is your opinion on the British as innovators of covert operations during the 1800's and early 1900's ? What is the legacy of British intelligence today?

Probably too late to submit, but do you have any interest in linking the activities of the French & British states in the period of the French Revolution to later developments? It seems to me that quite intricate webs of relationships in the transatlantic trade and the emigre nobility (William of Orange, The Catholic and Royal Army, the Toulon-Marseille and Quiberon bay expeditions) prefigured in an especially clumsy way the post-telegraph military, naval, and "economic" intelligence that really had to be totally re-negotiated in the WW1/Belle Époque era (like those detailed in "Planning Armageddon" a really dry but quite rich study of Naval/Economic warfare planning which directly feeds into the cybernetic and atlanticist 20th century intelligence establishment)?

I spent a week thinking of a question but I took too long to meet your deadline. I've always wondered what your research process is. How much of this shit do you just know from memory. While I'm listening, I can remember context and follow along. But, if I'm telling somebody about it later, I forget most of the important points. Reading books seems to imprint better than multitasking with a podcast.
