I am going to briefly interrupt the last run of America-focussed episodes this week to do an hour or so on Britain. Something happened over the last few days that I think is quite instructive, and will help non-Brit listeners understand what we're up against here and what kind of angle were going to take when we begin covering British history in depth in a couple of months. It's also going to be a rare Takes On Current Affairs episode, so I have built myself a fancy new soapbox. Should be up in the next couple of days.

Next Books of War show the week after that. I have spent more time than I thought I would looking at the lemon trade in 19th century Europe and America. I am keen to share my findings.

I think the Ghost Stories... after that will be something about organized crime or computers, let me know if you have a preference. We still need to do a show about the real story behind Casino, remember...

BCCI surely…

Love it. The Contra-adjacent BCCI-PROMIS-Danny Casolaro-Cabazon Reservation-Wackenhut etc stuff is instructive. THAT is how the world works

Can’t fucking wait for this ghost. Keep up the good work.

I’ve been reading bleeding edge and looking into the early internet and first dotcom boom so something on computers would be a treat. Excited either way though.

"The real story behind Casino." If not now, at some point.

Organized crime AND computers. Cabazon rez early 1980s if it’s not too expansive 😎🤙🏽

Hey man, great work on all the eps. Can we still look forward to Dutroux and Brabant redux?

GhostStoriesForTheEnd

Return to Europe is 100% happening soon, summer(ish). Brabant Redux is nailed on, the Dutroux one is in the air ATM because we covered it on the podcast You Can't Win and to be honest, reading through the case again - the X witness statements, the crime scene descriptions - was really, really depressing. So I'm going to try to think of a way to discuss new aspects of the story without wallowing in the really hopeless, horrifying details. Perhaps a look at the network connections outside the country or something along those lines.
