Discontinuing Swine of the Year (Patreon)

I hope this holiday season has found you well.

I wanted to release a journal to announce that Swine of the Year will not be returning in 2024.

In addition, pending deletion, the $7 tier will close (the $5 and $10 tiers will remain open). All references to the current year and to the $7 "Hansel's Feeders" tier will be removed from the Swine of the Year images and image titles to avoid future confusion.

There are a few reasons for this change. Firstly, the new $7 tier has not performed particularly well, and that has told me that it's simply not enticing or engaging enough of a concept to draw much interest. I'm also worried that adding weight and participating at that tier was too confusing (especially when the tier first opened). Few have joined at that tier level and of those few, fewer still have actively participated in the monthly feedings. Honestly, most of the participation has been by Legion members, so it seems silly to continue to have this extra tier if no one's making use of it.

Because of all this, and because I have a limited amount of time to work each week, it makes sense to me to shelf this idea and move on to something more promising. Removing Swine of the Year from my monthly to-do list will allow more time for me to focus on other projects, ideas, and stories. My comics and sequences have always done pretty well, so I think I'll end up using this extra free time to work on Uncontainable, and eventually break into other personal projects I've had cooking. I will also be releasing polls periodically to see what you guys are excited about or hoping to see. I'm always open to suggestions, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below, or you can email/message me directly if that's favorable.

I'd like to close out by expressing my upmost thanks and gratitude to everyone who signed up at the Feeders tier and gave it a shot. I'm still getting used to content creation as a full-time job, and of course not everything will pan out as I anticipate. Ultimately I'm comfortable with that - this is a process and an adventure I'm on, and I'm so pleased and excited to have had all of you on this journey with me. ~
