Hey I got my vasectomy done at the beginning of this year; one of the best decisions I ever made. I like to evangelize the procedure as well. It is one of the safest medical procedures that you can have done, and one of the most statistically effective means of contraception (there is roughly a 1 in 2500 chance that it can reverse itself, so get your goo checked yearly or so). The cost is about $700 to $1,000, and bizarrely most insurances won’t cover all of it, or any of it, which will be out of reach for some. But, the last time I checked the cost to raise a kid, and send them to college, is about $500,000, so $1,000 is kind of a deal in that view. To hammer it home, deciding not to have kids can be a difficult decision for some, but do not let fear of having surgery on your balls scare you. It really is not a big deal at all. The only pain you’ll feel is the pinch of the anesthetic needle, and you’ll be off the operation table in about 15 minutes at the most. And if you follow the surgeon’s instructions for recovery, you’ll be walking around normally in about 48 hours, and completely back to normal in 7-10 days. I personally had almost no swelling or pain at all afterward, didn’t even need an ice pack.
