I can out up with plot points I don't personally enjoy, but this crossed a line into inconsistent storytelling, ending a saga on a really bad message.

Why one moment in The Rise of Skywalker left me really disappointed

As a lifelong fan of the Star Wars series, from the core movies to the spinoffs, extended universe stories, and games, I went to a midnight screening of The Rise of Skywalker opening night with hope in my heart that I would enjoy myself.

When I say you have never written somthign I agree with so much... please understand how high a bar this piece just went over... Like... I like you and your work... a lot... I read nearly everything you post here, and like/agree with nearly all of it... but this piece takes that to a whole new level of agreeing vigorously with you.

Agreed. I was not a fan of how rushed so many plot points seemed in this movie. I would have been fine with this movie being 3+ hours long if it meant some of those important moments actually had time to breathe. And I was not a fan of that kiss at the end at either. Heck, I wasn't looking for any romantic/physical gesture from Rey. Maybe just a laugh between them. Then it could have been left to interpretation what sort of moment was had between them and Disney still gets their parallel story arc because whew did Disney want those parallel story elements. Holy cow. And then Rey could smooch Finn (and Poe maybe?) at the end. :) I, too, would be interested in that fan cut you're going to make. ;)
