Hey Everyone!

I'm releasing a batch of map tiles (here's the release link) and they vary a little bit from how I normally organize entries on the website catalog so I wanted to go over it here and try to explain my thought process for 'em.

As I was making these I was finding it was really easy to start going down rabbit holes of variations. For this first series I wanted to keep it simple and ended up settling on just adding some extra cob webs details to each tile.

Of course if you're printing out a bunch of map tiles you're going to want some more generic "empty" ones so you don't have the same skeleton visually repeated over and over.

While simple variations like these add variety I don't really feel like each stand alone variation is significant enough to justify having their own entry in the website catalog.

So the approach I've taken is I've put them all under the same entry making the "empty" version available for Free, the "base"+"empty" version available at Tier 1, the cob web+base+empty varations available at Tier 2, and then the color variation of all of 'em available at Tier 3. Tier 4 includes everything in the cut files and Tier 10 will have all the source art in the PSD file like usual.

I also included a Black and White version at all tiers, but to be honest I don't really think they read that well as I didn't really build these for B&W, but they're there if folks want to use 'em.

I do better when I'm able to just draw things and I know I tend to overthink and over complicated organizational stuff so I appreciate you bearing with me every time I attempt to sort out how to handle new asset types. I expect this process/approach may change/get refined so I appreciate any and all feedback - it's all part of the learning process for me!

Thanks!

Ok, this is actually awesome. I've wanted something like this where I could do tiles and maps a little better than the current system I have. If you could do these in a variety of sizes and themes, that would be exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you and I cant wait to see the other tile types you're making!
