The Beholder is now available for free at the DMsGuild here: Beholder Paper Miniature

My apologies for the extra step of having to go through the DMsGuild marketplace, but since the Beholder is an IP of WotC and they were nice enough to create this avenue for using their IP we might as well make use of it :)

The PDF file includes both the open and closed mouthed versions, 5 color options, and a black and white line art version.

Since this is the first time I've routed a mini through the DMsGuild I'd love any feedback you might have.

A special thanks to all of my patrons. It's their continued support that makes it possible for me to release minis like this free for the community.

Quick question...

TheSpider

How do I flatten it out and import the pdf? I use corel to print them on vinyl and cut the minis out of sintra. When I import it though it only brings in the text and no images. is it possible to just get a flat pdf instead of a interactive one?

PrintableHeroes

Hi Giuliano, I don't have a flattened version of this PDF, but I'm steadily working my way through the older minis and adding individual PNG files that should work better for what it sounds like you're doing.

I felt really guilty paying zero over there...

PrintableHeroes

I'm sorry! I wish I could just host it on here like everything else. If it makes you feel any better just remember you're one of the awesome people who made it possible for me to post it up for free to begin with :D

Bulldozers

My PDF only had the buff colored mob open and closed mouth not plain ink or other colors, 2 pages total.

PrintableHeroes

Hi Bulldozers, what happened when you clicked the images, did it do anything?

Anonymous

were you not able to click and cycle through the way all of the recent PH stuff has been? Are you opening it in acrobat and not in a browser/preview? Mine worked on OS X Acrobat reader DC 2015

PrintableHeroes

Make sure you're not viewing the PDF file through a web browser (interactive PDFs don't always work in web browsers).

Bulldozers

I opened it after downloading. It's 2 pages with the buff colored open and closed mouth beholder. :)

Bulldozers

Doh-- Click to cycle color options... see it on the PDF pages

PrintableHeroes

Oh, whew, so it's working? Haha, I was worried maybe the DMsGuild converted something in the PDF and broke it. Working now?

Ben Howe

this is great, perfect timing too, my group will be fighting one next session

Hen Biton

How can i download this? it say i need to pay for it on the website

Anonymous

@Hen Biton you can give 0 $ when you have to put in the amount.

PrintableHeroes

Hi Hen, you should be able to input $0 and then download the file for free. Please let me know if you're still running into issue with it.

Jeffrey George

I'm glad to see you're looking into distributing your work through OBS. Your minis are among the best available, and I think they would do quite well on DriveThruRPG/RPGNow as well as DMsGuild. Making the free ones available for PWYW is appropriate, and might help build your Patreon following. But you should definitely charge market rate ($2-$5/set) when you release sets that were originally Patreon tiered products. That, along with certain figures or skins that are only available to patrons, will help make sure that OBS releases don't erode your Patreon subscriber base.

PrintableHeroes

Hey Jeff, thanks for the support and recommendations. Your thoughts align with my own for how to make the jump to OBS. My goal is to make sure Patreon is always the "best bang for your buck" - patrons are the life blood that allow me to do this and I want to ensure subscribing is always the most rewarding experience.

I just bought everything you had on there that was not here on patreon, loving your stuff. I hope to see some more standard starter heros :-)

Also i dont know exactly how to workt he PDFs the shadow layer jsut covers it all making it a black blob?

PrintableHeroes

Hrm, is it just this file? I'd recommend downloading Adobe Reader (it's a free PDF viewer) and opening the PDFs in that. It's hard for me to control for all the different PDF viewer applications, but I do test all my files in Asobe Reader. If that doesn't resolve it then please let me know and I will troubleshoot further.

PrintableHeroes

Awesome :) Glad you're finding my stuff useful! Yeah, i've unintentionally been doing a lot of monsters lately and i need to start doing some heroes again
