Billing changes for new Patreons (Patreon)

For existing supporters, you will not see a change in your billing.  It will continue to be the 1st of each month.  But I wanted to write this note for full transparency on how we bill going forward.

Patreon offered an optional solution today on what I consider to be one of the more obnoxious features of the site: uneven billings during your first month.  For new supporters, you get billed on the date you joined, then again on the first of every month.  So if you join on the 30th of a month, you get billed twice in a few day time frame.  That's a really poor customer experience and counterintuitive to how pretty much every other subscription service works that I can think of.

I have accepted Patreon's optional selection for monthly billings.  In the previous example, if you join on the 30th, you won't get billed again until the following 30th (or however their algorithm works, I presume it's around the 30th).

For long-term subscribers, you will not see a change in how you're billed, it will still be the 1st of each month.

Despite my issues with this platform, I think it's important to recognize when they make changes to improve the customer experience.  And this is a positive change.
