Lena's getting some more shots in. A shotgun is an excellent weapon for close combat, but is it enough?

----

Here's the fully rendered version of last week's WIPs. I tried a couple of different approaches to rendering clear slime and started over a few times, but somehow the simplest method I tried seems to work best.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

As always, the new artwork can be found in the archive in the pinned post.

Wow, that stuff dissolves that fabric fast. So unfortunate for her it's so sticky too. At least this time she won't lose her gun if her hand is adhered to it.

The simplest methods often yield the best results. The details are outstanding. Great work.

These images really clarify the action in the WIP's from last week. The color contrasts are more vibrant, and they make these pieces pop. It's nice to see your trademark "shiny" filter coming back as well, really lends a more tactile feel to the images. Also, in the final renders, Lena looks justifiably annoyed. I like that she's professional enough not to panic, and treats the creature as more of an irritating pest. Your ability to make these characters relatable and sympathetic continues to shine through, just from the visuals and without a single word of dialogue; that's probably what I like most about your work. Excellent pics!

Very good the coloured version.

Thanks! Yeah since I am a terrible writer, I am sort of forced to do any kind of character development and things visually.

Except that the gun is made of non-organic material as well and will likely dissolve soon enough too

James Gavin

This is gorgeous - love the back and forth between who seems to have the upper hand - heroine or slug

That's alright, we each have our own unique skillset! Speaking of character development: Lena may look calm and collected now, but once that SG dissolves and she is further restrained, that confidence will probably give way to sheer terror...

Great work! I love how Lena is probably giving THE single hardest fight out of all the girls. Her determination and resolve are greatly admirable... which is why she deserves to lose. It's immensly satisfying to see the gyrations and violent struggle between predator and prey, and I hope to see Lena lose the fight in a way that honorably embraces her feminine strength and beauty.

Grave

The back and forth between monster and girl is quite thrilling. It's becoming clear to Lena that she's running out of time. She needs to end this fight soon before her suit and weapons dissolve. While the slug knows it has its prey in its grasp, now all it needs to do is disarm her completely. After which it's breedin time.

That gun already got the slug fluid all over its most important parts. With speed at which that substance dissolves synthetic materials, that gun won't fire more than twice. And after that well... lenght of human intestines from the bottom up to the very mouth average in between 7 and 9 meters, and mayby thats slug's tenacles aren't long enough to make it from one side to the other, but there is no reason not to try.

Hey, just because you don't use dialogue doesn't make you a "terrible writer." The ability to tell a coherent story without words is just as valuable, and you've been really good at that in these series.

Grave

Either way, Lena ain't gonna be walking away from this.

Anonymous

Well, at least not walking away victorious. Hate to assume it would lead to her demise.

Grave

We'll just have to wait and see how things unfold.

Chem321

Just hope she doesn't fire twice. A compromised weapon with a damaged barrel will explode.

Josh Foster

I, personally, enjoy the idea of a slime that dissolves all non-organic material. I did a story once of Lara Croft and a legged worm with similar slime.

Ditto to what had been said. I hope to see some pleasure in addition to terror when Lena realizes her predicament.

I'd have to say, I'm gonna miss that bodysuit, it looks real nice on her... ...What am I saying, of coarse I'm not!

Anonymous

My prediction: The slug dies of its wounds just before it can swallow Lena. As she staggers back to her rover with nothing but a few tattered remains of her bodysuit and no weapons, another slug breaches the surface beneath her and takes her down.

That's just a cruel subversion of expectations... I like it. It would be great character development to see the hardened warrior crack under the constant battles and break down into a terrified, screaming girl as she's finally devoured alive...

Josh Foster

Terrified - but pleasured. I really enjoy the look of combined lust and fear that ZG manages to have his girls express. ... Or lust and disgust. Or lust and loathing. Man, he's just good at that. Best one so far (facial expression-wise) is monster hunter 20. The look of exhaustion, fear and pleasure is so sweet - just like the moment she's experiencing.

Anonymous

@Josh I totally agree. Another thing I truly enjoy about ZG's work is the gradual change in the emotions of the central character as she gradually transitions from hunter to prey as so masterfully demonstrated in Pest Control. At first she exudes confidence and sometimes arrogance, then shock or surprise when her prey fights back, followed by fear as she realizes she's in trouble, followed by sheer terror and/or panic when she knows she's beaten, finally followed by sweet, sweet submission.

@Josh my favourite facial expression by far is in MH 17. Its magical seeing the adventurer burst into tears from the combined shock, pain and pleasure of the ovipositor being shoved inside her and the eggs start to travel down the tube towards her womb. I know we can't see any of it, but her facial expressions alone allow us to imagine what stage of the breeding process she is currently experiencing, which is beautiful to witness on her pretty face.

Man, reading all this, I don't know what to say. I am so glad you guys like my work so much. It really helps to keep me motivated to put out this kind of work.
