There were a ton of punks involved with BBSing in 508, too. Before I knew where to look for flyers, I remember learning about shows at the local VFW through the boards.

Our local BBS meetups were called MoMs for Meeting of the Minds. I don't remember exactly when we started but it was in the 87-88 range. Started off meeting at a local Shoneys, sometimes at Pizza place, eventually at a hotel conference room before they died out because of the internet. We also had another thing some of us did, when 9600 baud modems first came out, there was only one of us in the group that had one. Maybe once a month or so, we would gather at someone's house with the modem, download stuff until 2 or 3 in the morning, and everyone would get a copy of whatever was downloaded.
