hey hey hey besties! i came back to giv u another watery process wooo!!

This one is also kind of a still water so just light ripples!

I used the big fave brush!

Reference pic:

Again, if you’re not doing a super hyper mega realistic painting, you don’t need to obsess over small water details! You just have to capture like the main points of it to make it look similar to your reference pic.

PROCESS!

1. Base color first!

2. Just planning the duck positions.. guys.. these are ducks, right? Hahahahah

3. I separated the duck layer snd the water layer so just in case you guys just want to practice painting the water, you don’t have to bother painting the duckies hehe

4. I just painted the ripple color loosely all over the base color. Make sure it’s loose and not really clean, uniform lines because that’s not how water flows!!!!!

5. Blend ripples using base color with low opacity. and you can already see how it looks like actual ripples by just blending all the colors smoothly together

6. Then paint the lighter ripples on the right side.

7.  Add their silly lil feet hehe

8. I waited until now to paint the feet because half of their feet is underwater! And to show that “transparent“ effect, use the base color and paint over half of their feet. Make sure opacity is low!

9. Paint the duckies reflections!

10. Darken some parts to fully show the shadows and the ripples of the water

11. Then another layer of lighter ripple colors. Sometimes to show uneven texture, I just paint layers of color over another layer of color and then blend and the brush strokes would look like natural textures.

12. Just some lil shimmy shimmy shiny shinies!!

13. Clean up edges!

14. I added a bit of noise!!

Anddddd… tadaaaaa

very simple, not that realistic but u see it, u get it, u lov to see it woooooo

also bonus lil thingie:

I added the procreate file again besties!

you can edit it, paint over it, use it for practice!!!
