@hollowsmind : how do you choose a background/objects to put in the background?

Well at first, the objects are super random! I just put whatever that fits the negative space around the portrait. And during that time, i was also thinking of ways to connect with my art, and I thought that it would be nice to link the objects on my painting to a certain memory! So i just think of a person or a memory, then honk of the objects and look for reference pics of the object (coz I’m not capable of imagining things lmao)

Like this one! It’s tied to a memory of my grandparent’s home, which was also where i used to live when i was a kid, and they’ve got that kind of matchbox in every drawer, and the calendar was my grandfather’s, he collected that certain Filipino calendar that businesses and services give away for free.

@sunkissedhistory : what got you into digital art?

I honestly can’t remember!!!! I can’t even remember where I found out about procreate because i don’t know shit about digital art back then! I think that was early 2017 when i started. Then i stopped, went back to traditional and around 2019 or late 2018, i did digital again when i realized how convenient it is!!! I don’t need to prepare paint! And tools! And i can paint with digital wherever i am, in whatever sitting position i want, which helped me too coz I’ve got a bad back!

@vaguetype : is there a good way to start drawing besides just doing it? interested in digital

hmmmmmm do you use any traditional medium? I think it's super easy to do digital if you have experience with traditional! coz you can use your traditional skills and apply it to digital. but if you have no experience at all, i feel ya fren!

I think it could be super overwhelming, especially because there's so much options, so much buttons, so much colors! I suggest sketch it first on an actual paper instead of starting off with a blank white digital canvas! make a plan! start easy! i think starting with landscapes would be helpful because with nature and places, you don't really have to be super accurate you can be messy and just enjoy it!

 I remember when I started, i dived into portraits right away and it was a disaster, i hated it so i bailed for months lmao so start easy, sketch with an actual paper, make a plan, decide what you want to paint i'm telling ya fren, the possibilities are endless once you get used to it! rooting for ya!!! 

@artsybrainvomit : any tips for artblock?

What I do is I just ride the artblock, fren! I try not to force myself to paint when I know I don't have the energy for it, because when I force it, I just end up hating whatever I do! So take a break!! And while you're on that break, consume other forms of art, or do other stuff that's far from what your art medium is! Watch movies, treat yoself, play games! Then after a few days, do the stuff that will excite you to make art again! For me, I get excited when I see new reference pics hehe so after a few days of break, i start scanning for cute refs, and that will ignite my art passion!!!!!!!!! Or you can also watch youtube painting videos, or process videos, or browse your favorite artists! That will excite you to do whatever they do!! U can do it!!!

I go through phases every year... right now i'm in my soft hours indie and pop phase... so mainly miss beabadoobee.. honne.. arlo parks.. oh and i just discovered miss maria isabel's music and it's sexy soft hours music... i luv..

@tramentez : do u live with your art or do you have a job on the side? 

I have a full time job!!!! In an office! I kinda don’t know what I do honestly, i started as a secretary and now i also do all their reports with lots of numbers and shit! Super stressful!!! *whispers* I’m kinda planning on making art my full time job maybe 2 years from now…. Pls manifest this for me… wish me luck!!!
