Hi bestiesss!

I've been seeing reels of artists who are trying to improve other people's art and I wanna try that to my own old paintings!!

Did this in 15 minutes

Here's the reference pic:

And the old painting from 2020!

Big adjustments I made!

So I think the main adjustment I did that elevated the old painting is the eye part!

On the left there's really no angle, just straight line, although it has some shadows it's still not enough to show the face angle

Remember to add shadows on the deeper parts and lighter colors to the elevated parts (parts where the light hits!)

If you imagine your portrait in 3d then it's easier to see which parts doesnt really get hit by the lights source

Adding these shadows or darker shade of the skin tone helps with adding depth to your paintings

Other examples of improving angles through shadows and highlights:

The nostril part

Mouth part!

Also another thing that helped me with the adjustment is the line I drew on the face. It helps you see which part is aligned with which part!

This usually helps me with profiles, since.. I dont really know how to sketch hahhaha so I just use reference lines to check if my painting is matching the reference picture!

Final result!

Let me know if you guys would want more of this short form videos!! Sorry that I'm still awkward with doing voiceovers i'm tryinggg hahaha
