Hi guys!

Here's the finished character artwork of @DriftingEmbers' (twitter) oc Ryo, full grown-up and ready with battle armor made from bones and stone. There's also a comparison of his young self so you can see how much taller and stronger he got! (Young: 5'5 Adult: 6'10)

You know, I've always been a long time fan of Ryuu's work and his OC since when I first came across his work on Deviantart way back when I was still in high school I think. I was looking for bara-ish fanart of either Link or Ganondorf, then I saw his drawings of Ryuu, read his stories and then I was hooked. I don't recall if it's still there, but I remember Ryuu supposedly being Dark Link, but the Triforce goddesses felt sympathy for him that they transformed him into a Hylian. Of course, I think that OC origin story may have been retconned since I last read it all those years ago, lol. And if I had to choose between Ryuu and Link: definitely Ryuu all the way. Ryuu is like one of the classical ideal versions of a man most men wish they could be, and some are inspired to try to get as close to attaining that ideal. Ryuu is strong, he's very tall and muscular, has great aesthetics. He's a powerful looking barbarian with beautiful long hair, yet gives off that regal/handsome look. And from the stories I read that Ryuu wrote about his OC, he has a heart of gold as well, a true family man and a loyal friend. Despite how much life can suck and all its setbacks, I know most people, especially guys in their 20s-40s, feel disillusioned that they're not worth anything in this world. But strong manly bara figures I see in video games, anime/manga, art, etc. They inspire me to better myself. Not to stress myself over not reaching perfection and the pinnacle of a man, but becoming a better version of myself. Ryuu definitely gives me that impression and has been one of my favorite OCs for a long time. The dude's badass. 💪💪💪

Thank you so, so much for this! It's not every day one witnesses perfection unfold, but this certainly is that rare time! I hope to work with you more with this guy in future, as well as others!

I have to say, I am quite surprised to find someone who was (and seems to still be) a fan of that story! Your review and your opinion of my dear OC has really warmed my heart. I'm glad to know there are still people who like him so much even from way back when! After so many years of facing mostly ridicule and scorn, to hear I've actually inspired someone? That was something I needed to hear. Thank you!
