Re: sexual blackmail, Norm is right that the "ultimate" reason the US "supports Israel" is that Israel is basically a client state that the US uses to maintain its (not Israel's) total hegemony in the Middle East, which serves the US ruling class's interests. However, it's totally unnecessary (and if you followed the Epstein saga, obviously untrue) to deny that sexual blackmail is a key mechanism by which the US ruling class maintains discipline amongst its politicians. One doesn't preclude the other and these are not competing or contradictory explanations for the shape of US policy.
