Volume is kinda low

Very interesting episode. I like hearing all of your personal anecdotes and opinions on topics, it’s a lot better than listening to someone read through a bunch of research

Dylan Carlson's band Earth is so fucking good

spanky bulldog

Didn't know the story of him selling Kurt Cobain the shotgun until after I saw Earth live

spanky bulldog

I'd suspect their relationship was a little more than a drug one considering Carlson is a pretty big figure in alt rock/doom/drone metal stuff (whatever you wanna call it) . But I don't know for sure

Enjoying the episode so far but one thing The idea that 40mg is a typical heroin dose and 220 is a Necessarily lethal one. I think that 40mg might even be a small dose for someone who's an experienced user and heroin is usually sold in 100mg stamp bags, although those aren't pure, but the idea is that people often use a whole stamp at once or more. But just with opioids in general, tolerance to both the medicinal effects and side effects like respiratory depression can skyrocket pretty high, which is one of the problems with using opioids in pain care and end of life care--if you look at case studies of hospice patients I'm sure you can find people that are on higher doses per day in equivalency. I definitely think that's quite a high dose and would incapacitate someone, making it hard to then operate a shotgun if they had injected it, but to say that it's definitely a lethal dose is wrong. I've definitely seen evidence of long time addicts shooting up as much as a gram at once. Sorry if this is pedantic, the rest of the episode is good, I also want to say that whether or not he was murdered, Kurt Cobain was a victim of the parasitic music industry. I don't think his drug use was entirely hedonism. He had an apparently very painful gut issue that he was self medicating, as well as the last tour he did being very hard on his body. I feel the need to bring that u p because, as you said, because people look up to and emulate Kurt, it's important to note if his heroin use was something as banal as self medicating physical pain rather than some pleasurable and cool accessory to the grunge lifestyle.

Not in a hater way, but I wish you guys mixed episodes louder. You can always turn it down, but there’s a limit on turning it up

Good episode fellas. Didn’t know the theory of Courtney Love killing him had so much evidence. Need Sean on War Mode.

If you're on a PC and as control freak as me you can use a tool called "Equalizer APO" to slipstream some preamplification or even VST plugins into your chain. I have a subwoofer that blows up everytime someone makes a P sound into the mic, so a high-pass filter there is nice too.

Drew

I’m in my 1998 Buick Lasabre with an FM transmitter. Quite the opposite of what you’re describing lol

Chris Mathews Jr.

i'm in the garage building you a high-pass filter and a preamp on a switch labeled "PODCAST MODE" to put in your sick ass Lesabre

Another fun ep, Boys. Funny and informative. As usual I’m not going to fact check any of this shit and just believe everything you said.

pas-TEESH.

Kurt actually recorded vocals for one of Earth's songs (Divine and Bright) in the early 90s. I don't think it came out until after his death though.

Loyal Opposition

The Doors came into my life during middle school, and I kind of understand what Scott meant, but I think I felt like Jim Morrison was an ally. Unfortunately, "The Doors" is a big piece of shit movie and so inaccurate, a caricature, but no one wants to watch all the real interviews. Just like "JFK" and "Hoffa".
