There's something about the kid that has stuck in your mind. Was he looking at you? Or was he just looking at something behind you? Also, he looked way too sick to even have the strength to stand. The thoughts clouded your mind as you followed Lucian, the lone man, back to his house.

The house stood away from the busy market and neighboring houses. His mother sat at the table, looking through her cup of coffee, like there was something enigmatic about it.

Lucian, huh? Doesn't that mean light?

You can't help but smile a little. Knowing his real name makes you feel butterflies in your stomach. You can't wait to meet the older, lone man and talk to him about this dream.

How the hell can I go back?

The question dawned on you. Panic arose in your chest. Surely, you can't just keep dreaming, right? Was this even a dream? Your thoughts were cut off when Lucian's mother slammed her fists on the table.

"You are the reason why I am stuck in this house; do you hear me?"

Lucian nodded slowly. He bit his fingernails as he stared at the floor.

"I sacrificed all my dreams for you and this family," she said. "Everything! While your father goes 'round town working," she scoffed as she slowly shook her head. "Working, huh? Or fucking that young woman again!"

You tried to cover Lucian's ears, but your hands just went through him.

"Have you seen your younger brother? A fucking imbecile, much dumber than you. Now, I know where you got the genes."

Lucian slowly walked towards his mother. "Mother, I'm sorry."

His mother looked away. She nibbled on her lower lip as her eyes were filled with tears. "As you should," she replied bitterly.

Lucian hesitantly wrapped his arms around his mother's waist as he let out a heartbreaking cry. She placed a hand on Lucian's head and slowly ruffled his hair, tears streaming down her face.
