"That was really odd," you muttered.

Kristine grinned. "Oh, that was the least odd thing that has happened. Anyway, you really are curious about all of this, huh?" Her eyes grew bigger. "Wait! Are you one of those filthy tourists?" She narrowed her eyes on you.

You burst into laughter. "No, Kristine! It's actually the opposite." You looked down at your hands. "It's just that... we couldn't afford living in the city anymore. Just those kinds of usual problems."

"Oh, I'm sorry," Kristine said. "Well, this town is perfect for you and your family, and I hope you'll stay long here."

"That's a nice thing to say," you replied after the memory of moving houses flashed before your eyes.

"Also! If you wanted to know more about the Old Helios, I know who you can talk to," Kristine said. "They have tons to say about..."

Kristine's words were cut short as her eyes went from you to the screaming kid at the end of the road.

You stood up, feeling the familiar panic in your chest. Everyone froze as they watched the kid riding Kristine's bike, shouting for help, tears running down his face.
