The forest breeze was warm to your skin, like a summer afternoon. Like yesterday, everything was still and quiet, as if the forest itself was holding its breath, afraid that a slight noise would end the world. You can't say you'll miss the forest. You almost died in unimaginable ways overnight.

You can't wait to get back home.

Your eyes drifted from the thick forest towards Lone man. He looked at you and then at the next huge tree. He leaped behind tall trees, each time disappearing under the light and then reappearing in the shadows. His body looked lighter compared when you two were inside the house.

He looked almost like a thin mist under all the light.

Your heart raced. He's putting his life on the line to safely lead you out of the forest. What if he dies because of you? You shook your thoughts away. Surely he knows the consequences of all his actions. You don't know much about him or this forest anyway.

You just have to trust him.

You followed him as he navigated through the forest. You felt like you wanted to say something.
