The Mosin was still in service with combat troops in the 60s? in switzerland the K31 was only still around for rear echelon troops, infantry already got the SIG 510

M39 Mosin was very common weapon for soldiers in basic training. When soldiers were trained in their special roles, the rifleman could get his hands on AK-47 (type 3) or RK62 (still in very limited numbers). Squad leaders would likely get issued a KP/31, Sten or KP/44.
