I suggested this sketch for one of my customers, but we decided to go with a different pose. I feel like I want to still use it for some different uniform. Any ideas?

just give her an LMG25 instead of the K31

Since she's drinking water seemingly desperately, you could also make it an Afrika Corps or Desert Rat themed piece. The sometimes forgotten American forces in the Africa campaign could also make for a good outfit.

I’d say maybe a free French foreign legionnaire in Africa, would be a good occasion do draw a MAS 36
