I've been in Toronto visiting friends and family since Dec. 5. I've kept busy though, here are some watercolour bits and pieces I've been playing around with. Not sure what they'll lead to but I'm really enjoying the medium and it's been a nice change to work on paper instead of digitally. I'm hardly a perfectionist anyway but I like how it forces me to accept a bit less control over what happens with each image. Sorry for the lack of updates and low quality of these pics, I'll post proper scans when I'm back in LA and share a scene from the next Sublo episode. Lots more to come soon!

btw that LACC panel was pretty funny, we barely found out what time it was supposed to be at and one guy on the panel didn't show up till 3/4 of the way through.

also... anybody ever seen that mid-90s UK stop-motion cartoon Crapston Villas (created by Sarah Ann Kennedy)? I just discovered it a couple of weeks ago and love it! it uses the strengths of the medium really well to create a hilariously tactile, visceral depiction of squalor and misanthropy. It's definitely not for everyone but it's all on youtube, give it a try!
