New Year Ret 'roo' spective (Patreon)

As is tradition, I've waited until way past New Years to talk about the New Year and plans. :P

I split it into multiple parts because I can't shut up...

Part 1/3

First, a personal retrospective

2023 was a challenging year, depending on who you are. Mine was neutral, mostly okay. It was a rough bout of unemployment carrying over from 2022, but I had a lot of free time. I took a lot of (really terrible) short jobs to balance things while trying to get back to work. My finances are only starting to climb back up after securing a more stable day job, sometime in November.

Thank you everyone for sticking around to help fund these insane sketches and art projects I do in the meantime. You all helped me out a lot!

For media influences, MyHouse.wad and "The Thing you can’t Defeat" opened my eyes to the horrors of DooMentia, which lead to a terrifying spiral of (literal) DooM-scrolling and other nostalgic (and aesthetically retro) media.

I rewatched one of the earliest inspirations I had for TF Art for Halloween's stream (Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight) and it's okay. It had better writing than I remembered, was WAY gorier than I remembered, and way shorter TFs than I remembered.

In November, I discovered Jack Stauber's Opal, rediscovered Charlie Kaufman's I'm Thinking of Ending Things, and found a lot of lostwave media (if you watch my streams, you've heard "Like the Wind..." enough times). Overall, its been a very reflective year as I continue to feel inspired by weird, old media as it gets grainier and loses itself to time 

How about a personal art retrospective...?

Oh right! Yes. Drawings! Art has been going well, as of last year. Numbers aren't very interesting, but I finished and published:

• 11-12 commissions* (one is private; many are sequences)
• 11-12 personal arts* (including the "Point of No Return" head sequence and "Transdermal Celebration" fan-art)
• 49 finished "Ideas From a Hat" sketches for patrons-only! (only 1 cancelled idea)
• 1 Secret Santa gift.
• Only 1 Patreon-reward image escaped ("Portal Pants Part 2")

We'll address that last bullet point (the elephant in the room).
