Occasionally I'll get a completely random idea out of nowhere and ride that train until I get bored with it and do something else. Can't say if I'll come back to this one, but I won't "not" do more of it either.

[Synopsis on the back of the VHS tape]

Beach Raptors (1998) is a body horror thriller where Jurassic Park (1993) meets The Island of Dr. Moreau (1977) in this tropical island vacation from hell. Five young couples take a private yacht to a nearby island beach for some fun in the sun. But there's a reason the island has been uninhabited since the 'feather event'.

Three of the five women suddenly and abruptly transform to large feathered monsters from the Cretaceous period, and they are hungry for blood. They are primal and possibly cannibalistic, and the men must flee and fight for survival before the other two women suffer the same fate.

Meanwhile, the military science researcher and her own small army is called in to investigate and contain the strange potentially viral outbreak before the young couples can escape this island and contaminate the rest of the village.

It's a race to save humanity, or what could be left of it. Who will be cured? Who will survive? Who will succumb to the tooth-and-nail feathered fury of... the Beach Raptors.

[The Ending]

The dinosaur women actually maintained their personalities and intelligence the whole time and had no intent to eat anyone. It was a series of miscommunications that lead the group to assume Mikey was dead, when in fact, he was just trapped in a meat truck on the abandoned island.

Once the girls hunted a deer down and found the meat truck on the island, they were much more agreeable and asked Mikey to reach out on their behalf to get the military to stop hunting them. After the confusion settled, The five couples decided to just keep the raptor forms and live on the island together.

Dr. Elaine Clawe remains determined in trying to find a cure to her own raptor condition, but it's not clear if she ever does, as the cause of the transformation remains unexplained. It's hinted that she's allowed to leave the island, as the final scene ends with a raptor version of her walking to a podium to give a lecture, presumably about her findings on the island.
