Chapter 438: A Script Filled with Purple Ambiance

"Unfortunately, things seem to have taken an unexpected turn for you," Hachiman remarked.

Upon hearing Hachiman's words, Minami was taken aback, but she didn't show it on her face.

"Hikigaya-kun, what are you talking about? I don't understand."

Seeing her deny it, Hachiman shrugged indifferently.

"Is that so? Let's just consider it as me talking nonsense then. But I advise you, Sagami-san, if you really want to achieve your goals, you'll have to work hard. After all, you are the chairperson, and you need to fulfill your responsibilities."

"As for Yukino, I'll talk to her and make sure she gives you some space to shine. The rest is up to you."

With that, Hachiman didn't wait for Minami's reaction and continued walking towards the classroom.

Watching Hachiman leave, Minami's expression was uncertain.

...

Class 2-F.

The classroom was currently voting on what performance their class should do for the cultural festival, and in the end, Ebina's suggestion of the musical "The Little Prince" won.

"The Little Prince" is a famous children's literature short story written by the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1942.

The story revolves around a pilot who crashes in the Sahara Desert and meets a little prince from another planet. They share their experiences and become friends.

It's a well-known work and a suitable script for high school students to perform.

The only problem was that the scriptwriter was named Ebina Hina...

A hardcore fujoshi writing the script, and the main characters are two males. You can already guess what might happen in this script.

In Ebina's script, the beginning includes character descriptions and a plot outline, which are somewhat bearable. However, the remaining content includes phrases like "I've been to 108 planets," and "a certain pilot and a perverted prince."

And most importantly, in this play, Ebina wants Hachiman to play the pilot, while the role of the prince is assigned to Hayama.

Thinking about the script he had just seen, Hachiman's eye twitched.

"Do you need me to add anything else?" Ebina pushed her glasses up, reflecting an inexplicable light on the lenses.

Seeing her like this, both Hachiman and Hayama looked at her speechlessly.

"I don't think so," Hachiman firmly refused.

"Why not? I would definitely buy a copy if there's a Hachiman and Hayama CP fanfic," Ebina, standing between the two, spoke with excitement.

"Faced with the disheveled pilot, the prince used innocent and gentle words to launch a clever attack, and the two eventually formed a deep and touching friendship."

"That's the charm of this work."

Although this was indeed the original plot of the story, it sounded weird coming from her mouth.

Hachiman could guarantee that if he actually played the role, the script would definitely contain some unspeakable scenes.

With that in mind, he continued to shake his head.

"It's really not possible because I'm an executive committee member, so I'm responsible for the entire cultural festival's operation, and I don't have any extra time."

Hayama chimed in, "Exactly, theater requires rehearsal time, and it's obviously not realistic to have Hikigaya-kun act."

In his mind, he really didn't want to act in any romantic scenes with Hachiman.

After hearing both of them, Ebina couldn't help but feel disappointed. "Yeah, I forgot about that. So it's really a shame."

"So, should we reconsider the cast? For example, replacing someone else as the prince..." Hayama suggested.

Hey, isn't this your real purpose?

Seeing Hayama actually wanting to remove himself, Hachiman raised an eyebrow.

But at this point, Ebina seemed to have an idea. She picked up a chalk and started writing on the blackboard.

She erased Hachiman and Hayama's names, then changed them to Pilot - Hayama and Prince - Totsuka.

"There, problem solved. Although the pilot lacks the disheveled feeling now, it should be fine."

Dropping the chalk, Ebina crossed her arms, confidently nodding at the personnel arrangement on the blackboard.

This made Hayama somewhat helpless. He thought his persuasion had succeeded when he saw Ebina erase his name, but in the end, she just changed his role.

"So am I still going to act?"

Seeing Hayama's helpless expression, Ebina's eyes lit up.

"Not bad, there's a hint of disheveledness."

But Yui, who was beside them, felt a bit troubled and poked her cheek with a pencil.

"Now that the script is decided, the next issue is costumes."

"No problem, I've already prepared." Ebina's face showed a confident smile as she pointed to Saki Kawasaki, who was sitting by the window lost in thought.

"It's decided, it's you, Kawasaki-san."

"Huh? Me?!"

Suddenly being called by her name, Saki was surprised.

"Yes."

Ebina nodded repeatedly, then approached the girl and started fidgeting with her hands.

"I know, Kawasaki-san, you've made some subtle modifications to your school uniform and coat, right?"

"And you made this hairband yourself."

Being touched so intimately by Ebina, Saki felt a bit embarrassed. "Indeed, I made it myself and some with a sewing machine."

After saying that, she glanced at Hachiman not far away.

Hachiman naturally noticed the girl's gaze and, although he was puzzled, he still showed an encouraging smile.

Unexpectedly, Hachiman noticed her, and Saki quickly averted her gaze, her face slightly flushed.

But then Ebina spoke up, "Great, let me see!"

She started to fiddle with Saki, who was now feeling flustered.

Hachiman could vaguely hear some "stop" "it's ticklish" and similar sentences coming from behind him.

At this point, Saika, who was standing beside him, spoke up, "Oh, so I'll be playing the prince? It seems quite rare. I wonder if I can do it."

Saika's expression, tinged with a hint of distress, appeared softer than most girls', causing even Hachiman to feel a ripple of emotion.

He's a guy, he's a guy, he's a guy!

He silently repeated to himself several times before offering Saika an encouraging smile.

"Don't worry, Saika. I believe you can do it."

Hearing his encouragement, Saika's face brightened with a radiant smile.

"Yeah, with your encouragement, Hachiman-kun, I feel confident now. You must come watch when the time comes, Hachiman-kun."

"Don't worry, I'll definitely come." Hachiman nodded.

Just then, they heard Hayama's voice.

"Totsuka, let's go over the script."

"Sure, got it." Saika agreed, then waved to Hachiman.

"I'll go ahead, Hachiman-kun."

"Alright."

Hachiman responded, preparing to leave the classroom. But before he stepped out, he glanced in the direction where Minami was sitting.

She was chatting happily with her friends, but her expression seemed somewhat distracted, as if she was still pondering what Hachiman had said.

After seeing Hachiman leave, Minami also stood up and addressed her two friends.

"Sorry, I have to go to the meeting room. We have a meeting soon."

"Oh, I forgot you're the chairperson now, Minami."

"Right, right. Minami, you've got to do your best as the chairperson."

Minami's friends encouraged her.

"Yeah, yeah, I will. Thank you."

With a word of thanks, Minami quickly walked out of the classroom.

As she turned a corner, she finally caught up with Hachiman.

"Hikigaya-kun!"

Hearing someone calling his name, Hachiman stopped, turning to see Minami running towards him.

A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Oh? Minami, what's up? Do you need something?"

Seeing Hachiman's smile, Minami's expression once again became uncertain, as if she had made some decision. Her voice was low as she spoke.

"Can you really help me?"
