It would seem this stray diver just couldn't resist the shimmering, bioluminous allure of a group of fresh water captivation barnacles. These unusual creatures are not true barnacles, per-se, but a collection of hard-shell aquatic filter feeders that can take on distinctly differing roles depending on their position in the group structure. Feeders surround the base of the structure, while suckers are located on top. These latter creatures snare unsuspecting divers, holding them in place so that they can be probed and, if female, seeded. This will result in the birth of several dozen tiny orbular larvae when the subject next enters a body of fresh water. These will gather together to form a new colony.
