The new Standard Vixanti Starship Quarters (SVSQ) is intended to provide the ideal balance between traditional lifestyle expectations and the nearly limitless configurational potential offered by the use of biogel surfaces on walls, floor, and ceiling.

To satisfy traditional expectations and help make it easier to bridge the psychological gap between conventional and biogel lifestyles, each SVSQ unit is provided with walls free of biogel coating except to either side of the entrance doorway. A window or a holographic window simulation panel is positioned opposite the door, above a biogel couch flanked by end tables. Bedding alcoves are provided on either side of the room, each with a large queen sized bed intended to accommodate 2, giving the room a maximum normal occupancy of 4. A 2 person 'senior personnel' variant replaces one of the bedding alcoves with a personal effects storage area.

The floor and ceiling of each SVSQ unit is largely made up of a 24cm thick layer of biogel. 12cm thick panels line the wall to either side of the room door. Along with the rest of the biogel in the room, these are all connected to the ship's biogel network/reserve volume supply. These surfaces can be reshaped in virtually arbitrary fashion, allowing for furnishing, decor, and physical entertainment as varied as the residents' imaginations. In addition, the bedding alcoves can be completely filled with biogel to encase and, if instructed to do so, physically entertain its occupants.

In order to provide more solid work surfaces, a number of small panels are placed strategically around the room, which can be extended and held in any desired position by the biogel that connects them to the wall. Several of these have hidden, folding computer screens and holo-keyboards. Two of these special panels are contained in the end tables, while one larger one is kept below each bed.

In order to make configuration easier, the side walls above and to one side of the bedding alcoves, as well as the head and foot end of each alcove itself, is fitted with embedded biogel 'oracle' sensor panels. In concert with the gestalt minds within the ship's biogel core, these are capable of discerning exactly what an occupant desires of the biogel configuration potential, and making it a reality without a word needing to be spoken.

Generally, the occupants of each SVSQ unit will set limits on what can and can't be done without each individual's explicit consent. That said, one should visit an SVSQ with due caution, as the occupants may have set few rules, or no specific rules for visitors, or perhaps even allowed visitors to adjust the room themselves, perhaps even triggering 'entertainment' activities without realizing it until it's too late!

Currently, only Vixanti Biogel Lifestyle Starships are equipped with these sorts of quarters units, though the new and highly affordable Gelitech Compact Home will soon be bringing similar functionality to the masses.
