Little is known for certain about the strange entity that many have come to call the transdimensional horror. It is believed to be a form of transdimensional fungus which feeds on transdimensional substances and energies.

Prior to the advent of stable transdimensional substances like biogel, encounters with these organisms were extremely rare, and generally limited to incidents involving spacefaring vessels traveling ftl along the border between normal and higher order space. While encounters are still extremely rare, it is feared that the organisms may eventually become drawn to concentrations of biogel.

No know knows what happens to biogel wearers who are consumed by a transdimensional horror. It is suspected that their life essences become bound to the organisms to serve as a constant energy source.
